AMAIRA

Bang! Bang! Bang!

My heart beat grew louder and I felt all the blood rush up to my face as I crawled underneath the staircase before settling at the farthest corner, knees raised to my chin as I hugged myself tight.

I hear the shrill scream of my own mother, and I tremble with tears running down my face when I realize the hunters had caught her.

This was really real.

It wasn't a nightmare as I hoped it would be.

My parents, my sisters, they were all gone. Forever. And I was never going to see their smiling faces again.

"He said there were three of them. Where's the third girl."

I shake in my spot, my face beaded with sweat, trickling down my face, my almond shaped eyes lowered, closed as I prayed to the moon goddess to shield me from the eyes of these horrifying men.

They scatter and break several things, but I place my hand over my mouth, stealing my breath as I wait for them to leave.

Hunters and werewolves have and always will be enemies from the nick of time till now. We never got along, and we stayed in our territories and minded our business, only lashing out if we crossed paths.

But this was just something else. My father was Alpha Drago of Red Moon's pack, and just when he's training me on how to be an Alpha since I was going to be the next Alpha in line, these motherfuckers actually barge into my home and blow my dad's head off before killing the rest of my family.

I feel my canniness aching to pop out and the urge to go out there, shift and year every single one of them apart is quite difficult not to imagine.

But I realized there are more than ten men out there, and I was no match for them. I was barely 18 even, and point of correction, I didn't have my wolf. I was late so I can partly shift.

After a while, and to my relief I think they got tired because they later left, but just to be sure and out of caution, I stayed there for like twenty minutes, soaking in the fact that I'm all alone and the only survivor of this hellhole Alpha family.

As I creeped out from under the stairs, tears run down my cheeks in realizing that truly, I was really alone. The smell of blood and the sight of my family's disembodied body parts are horrifying and I find myself screaming as I run out of there.

I don't know how they did it or who planned this, but whatever they did plan, they planned it really well, because they didn't just raid my home, they wiped out my entire pack and took everyone's life.

I stand there in the midst of burnt down houses and the stench of blood and sulphur and realize that I'm not the only survivor of my family.

I'm the only survivor of my pack.

*

I'm lost, I don't know where to start, and I think I'm posting, but at least I've done something. I finally left my pack, and decided to find solace in another and probably get them to help me get my revenge on those assholes that wiped my pack dry.

My pack was really small, and I doubted that anyone would know I was an Alpha's daughter, and I was right.

They didn't give me that warm welcome I was hoping for and they definitely made me feel like an outcast when the Alpha of the pack I was in learnt what happened to my pack.

"Who do you say you are again?"

"I'm Amaira. Daughter of Alpha Drago of Red Moon's pack."

"Red Moon's? Never heard something like that?"

I roll my eyes as I silently glare at the Alpha who wasn't acknowledging me but sorting through files on his desk.

"It's really small... "

"Well, welcome to our pack, Amaira. You can start off in the kitchen, and you can inform Omegas to get you a room in the servant quarters."

I gave him a blank stare like I was seeing for the first time and I wasn't sure what his intentions were.

"What?"

He raised his eyes to scrutinize me like I was some insect.

"Didn't you hear me?"

"I believe there must be a misunderstanding somewhere. I'm an Alpha's daughter."

"Well, with your entire pack wiped out of existence, you're pretty much a nobody, possibly a rogue. We'll start the necessary rites initiating you to be one of us, but for now, you can start helping around."

"But... "

"Amaira if you don't concede to this, then you can leave. It's better you do now that I haven't converted you to one of us, because if I do, you can't change your mind anymore."

I gulp slowly as I leave the office to clear my head, wondering what I was going to do.

I had no one else to help me or let me in, considering most packs thought I was just a rogue. But the one pack that finally accepts me lowers my status to that of an Omega. How truly demeaning.

I consider changing my mind and leaving. Going out into the rogue's land isn't that bad, right?

How could you even think of something like that Amaira. The rogues will sniff your scent out and kill you when they realize you have Alpha's blood running through your veins.

I didn't realize that while in deep thoughts, I had gone past the Alpha's mansion, towards the gardens that spread deep into an open forest.

I let the wind caress my hair and skin as I drop to a log of wood to sit down, raking my fingers through my hair when I suddenly freeze on seeing and hearing something rustling in the bushes.

Abruptly standing up, I fell at my effort and scrambled back.

Was it another hunter who probably followed me here to finish me off?

Or a rogue?
