Disappointment.

- Do you think she will like it?- Shioban looked at her husband, passing him a small long box. The man opened it to find a gold bracelet with a small figurine attached to it. He smiled, looking at the creature it was representing.

- I think it is perfect. You made a great choice. It is very accurate on this occasion. This night will be memorable for all of us.- Felix closed the box and gave it back to his Luna. - I am sure Kaitlyn will be thrilled.

- I am a little scared of how she will handle the news.

- Me too, but we cannot wait any longer. She will find out one way or another. Hopefully, it will be easier with a family by her side. - Felix nodded.

- Maybe this will fix her relationship with Kylan. Those two are smart enough to pretend everything was fine, but I caught Kylan eying her when he thought no one was looking. This boy has something against her, but whenever I try to talk to him, he denies everything. We need to put an end to this. - Shioban said with concern, squeezing the box tighter in her hand. It was painful to watch her kids growing apart.

- You are right, my love. Every time they are alone, Kaitlyn looks upset. But she puts a smile on her face, acting like nothing happened. And it has been getting worse in the last few years. I hoped he would find a mate who could change him. - Felix added, placing his hands in his pockets.

- We will see what this night will bring us. - His wife replied with a little smile, trying to cheer up her mate.

Soon, the couple reached the packhouse, where a few young people were standing outside.

- Are those the guests? They arrived a bit early. - Alpha pointed, raising his brow.

- You know, the young ones are always so impatient. - Luna replied, giggling.

- They look like Kylan's friends. I was not expecting to see them here. Kaitlyn does not hang out with them.

- Maybe our son took the matter into his own hands, trying to make this evening special for his sister. - Siobhan said with hope, but Felix remained quiet. He felt something was off here.

- Maybe. - He replied with hesitation. - Let's get inside.

The alpha couple enters the packhouse to find more young members of their pack. Some of them looked uncomfortable like they wished to leave this place.

Shioban pushed herself through the crowd, followed by her husband. In one of the rooms, she found a group of females standing around the couch that someone occupied. Luna came closer to see her son lying there with a pale face covered in sweat.

- Kylan!- She screamed, falling to her knees next to her child.

- What happened to my son?- Alpha asked in a dangerously calm tone. No one said a word. - I will ask again, and the Goddess will have to help you if I do not hear an answer.

- He was rejected. - Someone said behind the Alpha.

Shioban gasped while Alpha was overseeing his son. Then he looked around. - Where is his mate, and where is my daughter?

Again, the only reply he received was silence. Alpha raised his eyes, which were gold right now. Everyone bowed their heads in submission.

- She is where she is always supposed to be. - Kylan said quietly, but in the silent room, his words were almost like a scream.

- What do you mean by that? - Felix gave his son a cold stare.

One of the girls got closer.

- Alpha, Luna. It was Kaitlyn. She was Kylan's mate. He rejected her first, but she didn't even budge, but after her rejection, he almost passed out from pain.

-Where is she now? - Alpha looked at the girl, who started to shake under his gaze.

- Hopefully, far away from here. - Kylan replied, sitting with his friends' help. - I told her to leave this place and never return, or there would be consequences.

Siobhan watched her son, sitting with a smirk on his face. She stood up from her knees, fixing her dress. Kylan raised his eyes at her, but before he could add something else, his mother slapped him across his face.

- You fool. What have you done?

Kylan looked at her; anger shone in his eyes.

- I did what you had no courage to do. She did not belong here; she was never part of this family. Her real family left her, knowing how useless she would become. - The young man said, balling his fists. - You gave her love. You made me treat her as an equal. She is nothing like us, nothing like me.

Alpha Felix watched his son and the people around him. Some of them looked scared, while others had a smirk on their faces.

- Everyone out! - He roared.

- No!- Kylan protested. - I said what they already knew.

- Out!!- Alpha growled, making everyone flinch. Soon, the room was empty. No one was willing to face Alpha's wrath.

Shioban went to her husband, placing her hand on his, to help him calm down.

Felix glanced at Kylan with the same disgust his son reserved for Kaitlyn.

- You knew she was your mate, so you called everyone to make this rejection spectacular. You achieved your goal, but not the way you planned, I guess. Judging by your condition, it was, in fact, a show.

- It was her fault. It may be shocking, but this weakling had no wolf, so she was not bonded to me. I received the full power of this rejection.

This time, Siobhan gave her son a cold stare.

- You are right. She has no wolf, she is not like us, and we are not equal, as none of us is a match for her. The Moon Goddess was looking after you, as a few hours later, Kaitlyn's rejection would kill you on the spot.

Kylan raised his brow, listening to his mother's words. Then he burst into laughter.

- How come a wolfless girl can be above me?

- She may be wolfless, but it doesn't mean she is not a shifter. - Felix got closer to his wife. Luna pulled out a folded piece of paper and handed it to her son.

- Read it. - Alpha ordered.

- What is it?- Kylan looked at the paper that was old, with yellow stains and torn on the edges. He unfolded it to find neat handwriting. - A letter? What does it have to do with me?

- It was in Kaitlyn's basket. Be careful, as it belongs to her. Please read it, maybe then you will understand our decisions. - Siobhan said, sitting in the massive leather chair. Felix stood next to her, glancing at his son.

- Fine. - Kylan mumbled before starting to read.

To people with good hearts,

Please take care of my little daughter. My heart breaks at the thought of leaving her, but it is the only way to protect her. My enemies follow me from one place to another, trying to take my most significant treasure. They will chase me while she stays safe here. I will lead them away from you so my sweetheart can discover what a loving family means.

My daughter bears a great power that needs to be hidden and protected at any cost, or the whole world will face the consequences.

My mate, her father, looks for her. He desires her powers and will not stop until he finds her. If that happens, our world will be doomed.

My mate fooled me. He did not love me. I was perfect for him, as I am a witch. Our child would be powerful beyond imagination.

With his daughter by his side, he could conquer any part of the world.

I had to save her. We escaped after her birth, thanks to my powers, but we had to move constantly. That is not the life a child deserves.

Please protect my daughter until she is ready. I can help you in the only possible way. The necklace she has will protect her as long as she wears it. It hides her presence and power until the time comes and she will be able to stand up against her father.

If I am lucky to keep myself alive by her 18th birthday, we will meet again. Another way, please give her this letter to explain everything.

If you ever come across the name Lucius Firestorm, be careful.

May the gods bless you,

Kaitlyn

- Great story. - Kylan folded the letter with a cold smile on his face. - I have to admit, someone has an imagination. Power beyond any. Please, have you ever noticed anything special about Kaitlyn? Her mother made up a story to explain why she left a baby.

And who is this, Lucius? Never heard of him. Besides, in Asterium, there is no more considerable power than our pack.

Felix was fed up with his son's behavior. He left the room to return with a book his son had seen a few times in the library but showed no interest.

Alpha opened it, looking at the pages as he searched for the last piece of the puzzle. He smirked and placed the book before Kylan.

The young man looked at the picture on one of the pages. An enormous black dragon was sitting next to the woman.

Kylan took a closer look and gasped. She could be Kaitlyn's older sister,

The text above the picture said- King Lucius Stormfire, with his mate, Kaitlyn.

Felix took the book back and shut it gently.

- Kaitlyn is wolfless, just like you said. She is a dragon Princess, and one day, she will become a Queen. Do you still think we are equal?

Shioban stood next to her mate.

- You banished her on the night when she was about to find out the truth since her mother never showed up. But your insecurities and jealousy get the best of you. Now, when I look at you, I do not see my son. All I can see is disappointment.
