LOGINCLAIRE'S POV:
Jennifer took me to The Howling Moon that night. I froze at the entrance, my fingers nervously plucking at the black satin corset they'd forced me into. The damn thing squeezed my ribs so tight I could barely breathe, and the thigh-high stockings made me feel like some cheap imitation of myself.
"This is degrading," I muttered, crossing my arms over my chest.
Jennifer adjusted the silver choker around my neck - the club's so-called "protection" against overzealous patrons. "You'll make a month's salary in one night," she reminded me, her voice softening as she added, "Your dad's medical bills aren't going to pay themselves."
The weight of that truth pressed harder than any corset. With a shuddering breath, I pushed through the heavy doors.
The club was a busy one and well decorated with flashing lights and loud music. Men were busy drinking while most of the women in here were half-naked and danced as if they were drunk. They ground against leering men, their laughter sharp and artificial as hands groped bare skin.
"Hey, gorgeous, let me buy you a drink?" A beta male with whiskey breath grabbed my wrist. His touch burned like acid.
I wrenched free without breaking stride, my stomach churning. This was worse than I'd imagined.
Before I could bolt, a broad-shouldered manager appeared. "You're late," he snapped, jerking his chin toward a secluded hallway. "VIP room. Don't keep him waiting."
My pulse thundered in my ears as I approached the private suite. The door felt heavier than it should have, like fate itself resisted what waited beyond.
Then I saw him.
Theo.
His silver eyes locked onto mine the moment I entered, and suddenly, the corset wasn't the only reason I couldn't breathe. Every instinct screamed to flee, but my feet remained rooted, caught in the gravitational pull of his presence.
"What are you doing here?" The words slipped out before I could stop them, barely audible over the blood roaring in my ears.
One dark eyebrow arched as he took a deliberate sip of whiskey. "I own the place, little wolf." His voice was rougher than I remembered. "The real question is - what are you doing here?"
My breath hitched. The truth lodged in my throat like a stone, but I forced it out. "My father's dying." The words tasted like ashes. "The hospital bills... no one else would hire me after..." I couldn't finish, couldn't voice Adrian's betrayal again.
Theo put down his drink. Moonlight from the floor-to-ceiling windows caught the gold flecks in his silver eyes as they searched mine.
"You don't belong here." His voice was rougher than I remembered, the words more growl than speech. My wolf stirred for the first time in weeks, pressing against my skin in recognition.
I swallowed hard. "Beggars can't—"
"Don't." A calloused thumb brushed my cheek, smearing a tear I hadn't realized had escaped. "Never call yourself that."
Then he was moving, shrugging out of his tailored jacket and settling it over my shoulders, swallowing me whole. The gesture was so unexpectedly tender that fresh tears threatened.
"Come." One word, spoken softly, yet brooking no argument. His hand at the small of my back guided me past gawking staff into a private elevator.
The penthouse smelled like him. I barely registered the sprawling city views before he was pressing a crystal tumbler into my hands, the warm water doing little to soothe the tremor in my fingers.
"Drink." He waited until I obeyed before settling beside me, close enough that our thighs almost touched. "Now talk."
The words spilled out of me in a raw confession—my father's terminal illness, the astronomical medical bills, the countless rejection letters piling up in my inbox. Theo listened with unsettling stillness, his silver-flecked eyes never wavering from mine, absorbing every shaky breath and suppressed tremor in my voice.
When I finished, he exhaled slowly, the muscles in his jaw tightening. "If you walked through hell to save your father," he said, his deep voice roughened with something I couldn't name, "then you're the strongest woman I've ever met."
My throat tightened at the unexpected praise, but before I could respond, his phone buzzed violently across the glass coffee table. A shadow passed over his face as he read the screen, his entire body tensing like a predator sensing danger.
With swift, deliberate movements, he grabbed a pen and scribbled on a hotel notepad. The check he tore off and pressed into my palm made my breath hitch—six figures, written with the casual ease of someone for whom money meant nothing.
"For your accompaniment tonight," he said. "My driver will take you home."
I stared at the numbers, my stomach twisting. It was more money than I'd ever held, yet still only a fraction of what my father needed.
"Thank you," I whispered, but Theo was already striding toward the door, his broad back rigid with tension.
The ride home passed in a blur. Back in my apartment, I collapsed onto the couch, the check crumpling in my clenched fist. The penthouse's opulence still clung to my skin—the scent of Theo's cologne, the heat of his gaze, the way his voice had dropped when he called me strong.
I pressed the heels of my hands into my eyes. Why did his approval matter so much?
And why, whenever I met those silver-flecked eyes, did my entire body ache with this unbearable hunger?
I longed to ask my wolf Eve, but she remained silent since the rejection. I hope she'll recover soon. I couldn't imagine my future without her.
THEO’S POV:I was standing in the living room, surrounded by people I care about. As I heard Claire’s soft laughter from across the room…my heart melted with joy.The storm has passed. And it's a new journey of happiness for Claire and I.Claire and I have come a long way after our bonding ceremony. After she came back to the lab, things between us just… clicked. We worked together day and night, rebuilding Valmont Corp’s reputation, developing new, safer drugs, and restoring faith in our name. She poured her heart into every experiment, every formula. And every time I saw her in that white lab coat with her hair tied up and her glasses sliding down her nose, I’d fall in love all over again.Adrian took charge of our overseas expansion. He’s been doing well — better than I expected, to be honest. The boy who once acted on impulse has become a man who makes wise business calls. I’m proud of him.Luna Roanna never misses a chance to remind me that I should tell him that more often. As f
CLAIRE'S POV:It was the most beautiful day of my life — the kind of day that makes your chest feel tight in the best way possible. The marking ceremony had gone smoother than I imagined. Even though I tried to stay calm, my heart had been pounding the whole time. And now, standing beside Theo with his arm around my waist, I could finally breathe. We took turns taking pictures with our family and friends before we moved to the reception hall. The hall buzzed with cheers, laughter, and clinking glasses. Everyone was smiling, congratulating us, and showering us with so much love that I felt like I could melt right there.Theo leaned close and whispered, “You okay, my Luna?”I smiled and nodded. “More than okay. Just… overwhelmed.”He chuckled softly, brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear. “You better get used to it, Mrs. Valmont.”Hearing that name — Mrs. Valmont — made my stomach flutter. My wolf purred inside me, content and calm, something I hadn’t felt in a long time. Then A
CLAIRE’S POV:Two weeks came very quickly. And it's finally the day of our marking ceremony.I could hardly sleep all night and the moment I opened my eyes in the morning, my heart was already beating so fast I could almost hear it echo in my head.Today wasn’t just any other day—it was my marking ceremony. The day I would officially become Theo’s Luna.I didn't want to go to the hall from Theo's place. So I went back to my apartment.Jennifer barged into my room before I even got out of bed, already grinning like she’d won the lottery. “Get up, sleepyhead. You’re getting marked today!” she squealed.I threw a pillow at her, laughing nervously. “Stop shouting, Jen. You’re making me more anxious than I already am.”“Anxious?” she said, pretending to be offended. “Girl, if I were you, I’d be dancing right now. Theo Valmont is every she-wolf’s dream.”I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help smiling. “Yeah, yeah. Let’s just get this over with before I faint.”She helped me get dressed, fixing
CLAIRE’S POV:When my phone rang and I saw Mom flashing across the screen, my heart skipped. I hadn’t heard from her in a few days, and my mind immediately raced to Dad. I excused myself from the noise around our table, stepped aside, and swiped to answer.“Hey, Mom,” I said softly, already bracing myself.“Claire, sweetheart!” she said, her voice bubbling with joy. “Your father’s been discharged! He’s fully recovered, can you believe that?”I froze. “Wait—what?” My heart jumped. “He’s been discharged? Like—completely?”“Yes, dear!” she laughed, her voice trembling with excitement. “He’s strong now. The doctors say he’s made a miraculous recovery. You need to come and pick us up, honey. We’re already waiting in the lobby.”I pressed a hand to my chest, tears instantly clouding my eyes. “Oh my God, Mom… that’s amazing!” I whispered. “I’ll be there right away.”“Drive safe, baby,” she said, her tone softening. “We’ll be right here waiting.”“I will. Love you, Mom.” I ended the call and
CLAIRE’S POV:“Nicole Marcus, the Werewolf High Council sentences you to ten years imprisonment, effective immediately.”The courtroom exploded in noise. Nicole screamed as tears ran down her face, her voice echoing through the room, “You can’t do this! I didn't do it intentionally! Claire provoked me when she stole my fiancee! Dad, do something!”But even Alpha Marcus looked powerless now. His influence couldn’t save her this time. The guards stepped forward, gripping her arms as she tried to resist. She turned to Theo, glaring daggers at him through her tears. “You’ll regret this, Theo! You all will!”Theo didn’t even respond. He just looked at her with that cold, unreadable stare — the kind that could freeze lava.I sat there, still trying to process everything. Ten years. For a moment, I actually pitied her. She had destroyed so much, not just for others but for herself too. When the session ended, Theo stood and offered his hand to me. I took it, and we walked out together, follo
THEO'S POV:“Do you still deny the accusations?” the Chief asked Nicole.Nicole’s lips quivered. “I didn’t mean to kill her,” she blurted out suddenly. “I just… I just wanted to scare her! She ruined everything for me. Adrian dumped me, and everyone blamed me for leaking those stupid files. I wasn’t thinking straight!”I closed my eyes, anger rising in my chest. “You nearly burned down my company and killed an innocent woman, and you call that not thinking straight?”The Chief banged the gavel. “Enough! The council will deliberate.”We waited while they discussed in low tones. Every minute felt like an hour. Claire’s hand brushed mine briefly, grounding me. Adrian stared at the floor. Nicole sobbed quietly while her father whispered in her ear, probably trying to think of another lie. Finally, the Chief spoke. “This court acknowledges the evidence presented and the testimonies of witnesses. However, due to the seriousness of the allegations, the Council will conduct an independent inv
