He shrugs. “Didn’t really pay attention. Thought maybe she went to meet someone.”

I look at Alex, my stomach knotting. Who will she meet at this moment?

Ever since what happened to Rimi, one thing’s been clear. This pack isn’t safe anymore. Sydney can get hurt if she’s out there alone.

My heart pounds harder.

Alex looks just as tense. “I will try to track her by her scent. It should be easy.”

I nod and we look for her throughout the party but don’t find her. I frown as I look at the gates of the complex. Something pulls me towards it.

“Let’s look outside the complex,” I suggest. We head out of the complex and walk towards the forest instead of the packhouse.

Alex’s eyes flash. “I can smell her. She’s near the forest.”

“Good.” I mutter and notice that Alex frowns as we approach the forest. I’m about to ask him the reason but then I don’t need to as I find Sydney.

She’s not alone. There’s Simon standing with her. They seem to be arguing about something.

    VENUSThe shrill cry of the alarm drags me out of sleep. I blink groggily, the ceiling unfamiliar for a second before my mind catches up. I'm in Sydney’s room.My arms are tangled in a blanket and when I shift, I realize I’ve been sharing the bed with Sid. She’s still fast asleep beside me, her face buried in the pillow, looking more like a sulking child. Across the room, Alex snores lightly on the guest bed, one arm draped over his face.
