As I walked along the path that led to the training grounds, another feeling washed over me, and I stopped instinctively at the gate. A mixed feeling of awkwardness and nervousness washed over my whole being. Maybe I should just go back⊠this feeling, this nagging feeling â it just wouldn't go away. But I could understand the nervous feeling. Unlike my old pack, where I knew almost everyone, I was new here. And this was the first time I had come here alone, without company or Jonah, aside from the day I had come to train at dawn. But it was different then â well, because Jonah had ordered that it should be off-limits. The pack members looked at me, but it was a look of guarded, curious glances. They must have been curious to know who I was â just like I was curious to know them. There were a lot of them, and yet I didnât know any of their names, not even one. They saw me as their Luna, butDariusâs POV âMy bed was just too small that I felt so uncomfortable lying on it.â I lied. Well, it wasnât a lie entirely, and it wasnât entirely the truth either. The frown dissipated from her face at my words. âOh, you. You are bigger than I am.â So she shuffled out of the bed, walking towards the door. âIâll take that room and you can take mine.â She twisted the doorknob, opening the door. But my hands that slammed hard across it in an attempt to close it back had her jumping up in fright. She stepped back swiftly, twisting to face me with eyes that were wide with shock. Her scent changed into that of fear. She was now scared of me. And in no time, those eyes that held shock now dripped down tears in abundance. Damn it. I made her cry again. âWhat⊠what do you want from me?â She stuttered out as she cried. Her shaky hands were raised to wipe those tea
Dariusâs POV But instead of running in the opposite direction outside, like I had wanted, I paused, walking in the opposite direction when the scent drifted across my nostrils. The scent was beautiful, enticing, drawing me nearer, closer. And before I knew it, I was now standing right outside the door. Her door. I was dying to go in, and my hands itched to open the door. This scent would be the only thing that would calm me down. It had worked before. It always worked. I slowly reached out to the doorknob with hands that trembled, twisting it open and slowly opening it to prevent it from making a noise. I popped my head inside the small space like I was about to do something awful, peeking to see what she was doing, even though I knew what she would be doing. Unlike my room, which was dark and devoid of warmth and life, this room, which had turned into hers just h
Dariusâs POV Just like Jonah had shown, I was incompetent. Because how would my mother have died if I wasnât? It was hard to accept, but I have to accept it now â that I was the reason my mother had died, that it was my fault. I gave her the chance to slit her throat. All the braveness I now feigned â if I had feigned it before and bravely killed that witch, maybe my mother would still have been alive, right? If I had been sensible enough, I wouldnât have wished that life would become fair again, that it would become joyous again, even when that other woman had arrived. I wouldnât have wished that my life would be back to normal, if only⊠if I had been stronger, bigger. If only Iâ I violently shook my head, trying to shake the dark and depressing thoughts off my head. My hands fisted on the small bed covers. There was no way in hell my life would ever change. Even if I poured all the whole gui
Dariusâs POV The green-eyed Omega and I had arrived in the cabin, tucked away in the woods. She had put up a protest, whining about how she didnât want to be in the same space as me. Nonsense. I let go of her hands, still holding her bag with the other one as I fished out for the keys to the house from my pant pockets. The keys made clanking sounds as they dangled from the force from which they came out. This houseâthis buildingâI hadnât come here in so many years. And that was because this house, to me, is a nightmare in itself. Before it became a nightmare, I had lived here peacefully, happily, when my mother was alive, when she happily lived with my father. I used to run around in this houseâaround the house and into the woods. But that was until everything fell apart, and this place became only my fatherâs sanctuary, but a nightmare for my mother when another woman came into the picture. D
Danikaâs POV âGood, especially you, Sammy. You are older, stronger, and she is younger, so do not hit your sister again. Okay?â Sammy obediently nodded again, âBut I was not lying, Grandpa, when I said she hit me. So in this case, what must I do when she hits me first again?â Dad glanced towards Jonah. âTake a look at your dad,â he said. And Samuel glanced at his dad. âYou see, he is even stronger than everyone, and he can protect you. So tell your dad when Talia hits you again, Iâm sure he will take care of it.â He nodded in understanding. âOkay, Grandpa, I will do just that.â Now Dad took their hands forward, placing Samuelâs hand on Taliaâs. âNow I want you to hug each other. Samuel, you go first, so that I will be sure that you have really understood all that I have said.â They both turned to each other, but Samuel just slipped his free hand in his pants pocke
Danikaâs POV After everything that had happened to me, after everything that I had passed through, the Goddess finally consoled me with them â Samuel and Talia. âHey! Samuel, stop!â I scolded him. âWhat did I tell you about hitting your sister? Now apologize to her.â His face morphed into a frown, indignant about the apology, and after a while, âIâm sorry,â he said. âAnd?â I probed further, my voice indicating that he should continue. âAnd I will not do it again,â he replied, his voice low. âGood. Thatâs my baby. Look who is here â you both should come over and say hello to Grandpa.â Talia and Samuel greeted him, bowing their heads as they did so. âLittle ones,â Dad smiled at them, glancing up again to look at me. âShe has your eyes â so beautiful. And the boy, heâs handsome as well,â he said. Now, looking down at Talia â âNo, Dad, ha
