Draven's POV

There was a short silence. I turned my gaze back to the Lorekeeper. "It is the reason I was cursed?" I couldn’t help but ask.

I had never known the origin of the curse, I only knew I grew up with it.

She gave no answer.

The woman's gaze shifted to Aria and then back to me. "You need to understand what I'm telling you," she finally spoke.

She went quiet again and I could see that she was chanting. Her lips moved but no words came out.

She was that way for a few seconds before she f

  • Rejected Luna of The Cursed Alpha   Your ancestors were terrible people

As soon as we stepped out of the dungeon, I could feel everything that we just learned pressing down upon me and even upon Aria. She was unusually silent. Not that kind of comfortable silence that I had learned to appreciate. This one was different. It meant she was elsewhere.I glanced at her as we walked. She was looking ahead with a slight frown on her forehead.I recognized that expression; it was her thinking expression. She was thinking too much. I didn’t need to be able to read her thoughts before I knew what she was thinking about. "You are doing it again."She turned her gaze toward me. "Doing what?""Thinking."She opened her mouth. "That is hardly considered a crime.""Well, it should be."She arched an eyebrow.I smiled. "At least for you."She rolled her eyes.I had missed this. The little reactions. The looks she gave me when she thought I was insane. All of this, especially after everything that had happened to us in the few days, made me want to see more of these. To m

Her lips moved but no words came out.She was that way for a few seconds before she finally opened her mouth, "Your curse is tied to her bloodline and it is there because of the mistake of the alpha king’s ancestors against the eclipse bloodline.”I frowned. Why was I the one paying for their mistake?"Why me?""That's your fate.” The woman looked at Aria. "When she touched you, she didn't just recognize your curse. Her blood also recognized that it has placed it there.”Aria paled. "What does it mean?""It means that it would take a lot more than curse breaking to break the cur

Aria's POVWhat was I truly created to do?I thought to myself. I never asked for such responsibilities. All I want is to live my ordinary life without being hunted for something that I did not even know I had until now.My eyes fixed on the lorekeeper, I could not look away from her.My bloodline. The hunters.Prophecy.Draven's curse. They all seemed to be connected somehow, but I could not figure out the way they were."What are we supposed to do now?" I asked. The lorekeeper looked at me. "Now we need to understand what you are actually capable of."I frowned. "I know what I can do.""No." Her tone was quite calm. "You know what you have already been able to do. There is a difference between them.”Draven's hand was squeezing mine.I looked at him, he was looking at the lorekeeper."How do we do it?" He asked."Your powers are based not only on the intention but also on the touch." The lorekeeper answered."I don't understand.""You have used your powers instinctively. To weaken t

Nobody spoke. The words seemed to hang above the herb room like a threat.I looked at the Lorekeeper. "What do you mean?"She didn't speak right away. Instead, she looked at Aria. "The men who came for you last night.""They were sent because of the bloodline?" Aria said.We had all come to that conclusion."Most likely.""Then the attacks have already started," I said. The Lorekeeper nodded. "The prophecy doesn't state that the kingdoms will bleed immediately." She tapped the page. "It says it will happen when those who fear the Eclipse come for her."I looked at Aria. She was studying the prophecy.“I don’t know if you know this, but some curses are placed there to target the eclipse bloodline. Here is what I mean…” She glanced at us. "People with those curses rage when they see someone with the eclipse blood and when they are not able to kill that person, they kill everyone around and that’s when the kingdom would start to bleed.”I looked at the lorekeeper, there’s still that one

  • Rejected Luna of The Cursed Alpha   The Prophesy

One word refused to leave my mind.Eclipse.It followed me from the dungeon. It followed me along the corridor. It followed me right back to my chambers.I've heard that word before. Many years ago.Long before Aria.Long before I knew anything about the Nullifiers or bloodlines or how my curse responded to her presence.I heard it once in a prophecy.A prophecy I've never fully comprehended, I opened the door to my chambers immediately I got there.Aria was sitting by the window. She turned around immediately. "There you are."I nodded. Her gaze shifted towards my face. "Something happened."Not a question.I walked past her to the bookshelf."What are you looking for?""Something."She frowned. "So helpful."I ignored her.My fingers brushed against the books on the shelf.Records from old times.Treaties between different kingdoms.Books on curses.Historical texts.Nothing.I turned to another shelf.Aria stood up. "Draven.""I recall writing something.""What?""A prophecy."She

  • Rejected Luna of The Cursed Alpha   Tied to my curse

Aria woke up early. She always did.Despite everything that happened last night, I watched her wake up beneath the covers as the first light of the sunrise appeared through the windows. She stayed motionless for a moment. Then her eyes opened, and she looked at me. "You're awake.""I've been awake."Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Did you sleep?""Enough."I didn't.She knew it.I could read it from her eyes. But she didn't say anything. Instead, she got up and covered herself with the blanket."Where are you going?""To the dungeon."She looked confused. "The men?"I nodded. "I need answers."She looked uneasy.I took her hand. "I'll protect you," I said, giving her my word."I know."I kissed her forehead. "Wait here until I come back."She nodded.I left the room. But I kept the image of her scared face with me all the way to the dungeon. The first thing I noticed when I entered the place was the smell of blood. My guards stood outside of the cells.Three men had been captured. Two of
