{Hailey’s POV}I looked at the kid and then back at the monster—I mean, the big black wolf.“Hey, you!”The boy looked at me and raised a brow in annoyance. His expression tells me that he was neither happy nor pleased with my presence. Well, guess what? I don’t care because right now, I’m the only one who could save him from that roaring wolf.“Leave now! Run!” I panicked, but to my irritation, the stubborn kid stayed where he was without a trace of fear in his expression. I sent daggers his way to let him know that I was not joking. “I said, run! Do you want to get bitten by that thing?!” I yelled while pointing at the wolf who snapped its canines at me while growling angrily. The boy snorted. “He doesn’t bite.” He stated. “He’ll devour you straight away.”I opened my mouth to say another warning, but I was surprised when I saw the big black wolf running towards us. I tensed up before looking around, thinking of any possible escape, but there was none…unless…I use my water element,
{Hailey’s POV}My reaction was quick, I abruptly pushed him away and cleared my throat. My face flushed, and my knees slightly trembled as I took three steps back.I hate this.“Leave now, Alpha. What you’re doing is clearly illegal.” Thankfully, my voice came out strong, contrary to what I was actually feeling. His eyes didn’t change though—the same dark dilated pupils—as he stared down at me with a surprisingly soft expression.“Call me by my name.” I blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting that from him. “You know me, right? So, call me by my name.” He repeated.LennoxMy mind was practically screaming his name, but my lips remained tightly closed. I pursed my lips and tore my gaze away from them.Think fast, Hailey. He doesn’t look like he’ll be leaving anytime soon, so I have to figure out another way to change the subject because there’s no way in hell I’m going to give him the satisfaction of saying his freaking name. Yes, I’m stubborn like that.“You!” I pointed a finger at
{Hailey’s POV}Ever since that day when I saw the wolf, I’d been more conscious whenever I was out in the clearing or just outside the house. I was always wondering if someone was watching me or Sapphire. I couldn’t stop thinking if that wolf ever heard our conversations or saw us—saw me losing control of my water element.I wonder if that was just an accident. But I’ve never been so sure about what I saw, and I saw that werewolf watching Sapphire’s house like there was no tomorrow, and although what it was doing was kind of harmless, I still couldn’t ignore this nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach—like warning bells going off whenever you encounter a bad people. But I could be wrong. Maybe I was just tense and being a little too paranoid.I could only hope so.“Sapphire,” I called when I saw her opening the front door. She stopped and turned to me, waiting for me to continue. “Where are you going?”Of course, I didn’t tell Sapphire about the ash brown werewolf, watching her house
{Hailey's POV}Late in the winter of my nineteenth year of existence. I was out in the woods, curled up in a ball with my back against a tree. I should be at the pack house, with my family and friends for it was my brother, Ares’s twenty-first birthday today. But after what I heard from my parents just a few hours ago, I don’t think I have it in me to enjoy.Apparently, Aunt Rae told them about my situation. She was, after all, my trainer and also the one gifted with the element of nature. Mom had promised me before that when the time comes, she was the one who would personally train me, but five years ago, she got pregnant and was now busy taking care of my four-year-old sister, Freya. At first, I was disappointed. I mean, I idolized my mom so much, but I understand, and besides, Aunt Rae was a good trainer. She was the one who trained Mom as well, so she was pretty good. For the past two months, my element—my water—became untamed, to say the least. I have hurt Rae a couple of times.
{Hailey’s POV}It was a very excruciatingly painful twenty-four hours of plane ride without doing anything other than sleep, eat, or stare blankly at the plane window. I felt like it was the longest time of my life. I wasn’t used to this kind of silence. At the pack, the only time I was quiet was every time that I was asleep. I’ve never felt lonely because I have so many people to talk to, but now, I know that’s about to change.I didn’t know if I should feel relieved or not when the pilot announced that we have already landed, but when my feet landed on the ground, I know it was the latter. I wanted to go home.“Miss Hunter,” A man in his late thirties, wearing a black suit came to me. “My name’s Adam. Your father sent me to escort you. I will leave once you are safely in the care of the mistress of air.”I meekly smiled at him. “Adam, can I ask you a question?”He nodded. “Of course, Miss Hunter,”I brushed him off. “Just call me Hailey. Anyway, where are we? What is this place?”He
{Hailey’s POV}I woke up groggily, hearing the most annoying bell ringing around. I turned and then burry my head in one of my backpacks that I used as a pillow because the generous owner of this house didn’t even bother to give me one. I waited for a few minutes, but the bell didn’t stop.“What the hell?!” I abruptly sat up in annoyance when someone rudely pulled my backpack away, causing my head to briefly fall on the couch. My eyes turned to slits when I saw the one who did it. Of course, it was none other than Sapphire. She was standing in front of me, holding a bell in her left hand while she used her other free hand to pull my backpack.“What the hell?!” I complained and looked out the window. My jaw went slack when I saw that the sun was barely even up. I turned my gaze at Sapphire again and let out an exaggerated breath. I was about to speak but she interrupted me.“Get up. You have chores to do. I’m giving you five minutes to get ready. Go outside once you’re done.”She didn’
{Hailey’s POV}I automatically took a step back as my eyes slowly widened. I felt something unfamiliar fluttering inside me like a worm or butterfly moving inside my tummy or was it the abnormal beating of my heart as I stare at the most drop-dead-gorgeous man I have ever seen in my life. He’s tall and lean. His eyes were a shade of pitch-black and the way they gaze at me—serious and deep—was making me feel things I’d never felt before. Then, his eyes glowed. It turned to gold as though he was communicating with someone through mind-link, and despite being too focused on him, my senses couldn’t help but notice or more like, feel someone behind me. I immediately turn around and to my surprise, I saw the guy earlier. The one with shaggy blonde hair Sapphire was talking to.His brown eyes were wary and his body language was alert to any possible movements from me. I mentally scoff. As if I would touch you.“Who are you? Introduce yourself.” The beta or gamma ordered.Irritation immediate
