Rejected Revenge: Mistress of Water

{Hailey's POV}Late in the winter of my nineteenth year of existence. I was out in the woods, curled up in a ball with my back against a tree. I should be at the pack house, with my family and friends for it was my brother, Ares’s twenty-first birthday today. But after what I heard from my parents just a few hours ago, I don’t think I have it in me to enjoy.Apparently, Aunt Rae told them about my situation. She was, after all, my trainer and also the one gifted with the element of nature. Mom had promised me before that when the time comes, she was the one who would personally train me, but five years ago, she got pregnant and was now busy taking care of my four-year-old sister, Freya. At first, I was disappointed. I mean, I idolized my mom so much, but I understand, and besides, Aunt Rae was a good trainer. She was the one who trained Mom as well, so she was pretty good.For the past two months, my element—my water—became untamed, to say the least. I have hurt Rae a couple of times.

{Hailey’s POV}I woke up groggily, hearing the most annoying bell ringing around. I turned and then burry my head in one of my backpacks that I used as a pillow because the generous owner of this house didn’t even bother to give me one. I waited for a few minutes, but the bell didn’t stop.“What the hell?!” I abruptly sat up in annoyance when someone rudely pulled my backpack away, causing my head to briefly fall on the couch.My eyes turned to slits when I saw the one who did it. Of course, it was none other than Sapphire.She was standing in front of me, holding a bell in her left hand while she used her other free hand to pull my backpack.“What the hell?!” I complained and looked out the window. My jaw went slack when I saw that the sun was barely even up. I turned my gaze at Sapphire again and let out an exaggerated breath. I was about to speak but she interrupted me.“Get up. You have chores to do. I’m giving you five minutes to get ready. Go outside once you’re done.”She didn’

{Hailey’s POV}His face was so close to mine that I could almost hear his breathing. My mind was stuck processing what he just said.‘Why don’t I show you that myself?’What the heck was he talking about?I stared at his face and saw him smirking at me like he had won something. I didn’t know why, but I suddenly got irritated, seeing how arrogant he looked. He must’ve thought that he got the control.I crossed my arms over my chest, looking at him challengingly.“You know, trespassing is a crime, right?”He tsked. “No rules or law can stop me. I only make them, but it doesn’t apply to me.” I really hate how smug he sounded.I scoffed, shaking my head in disbelief. “You don’t deserve to be an Alpha, then.” I spit the words out like venom, my eyes glaring daggers at his pitch-black ones. “A great leader should make a good example for his people. If a leader can’t even abide by the rules, how could you expect your people to be loyal to those rules? Being an Alpha doesn’t make you a God.

{Hailey’s POV}My reaction was quick, I abruptly pushed him away and cleared my throat. My face flushed, and my knees slightly trembled as I took three steps back.I hate this.“Leave now, Alpha. What you’re doing is clearly illegal.” Thankfully, my voice came out strong, contrary to what I was actually feeling.His eyes didn’t change though—the same dark dilated pupils—as he stared down at me with a surprisingly soft expression.“Call me by my name.” I blinked in surprise, clearly not expecting that from him. “You know me, right?
