"WHAT DID YOU say, Beta Bruce?" Damon asked.

Bruce was stumped for words. He did not know how to react or what to say as he stared at the body in Logan's room. The only thing he thought to do was to act dumb. "Who is that? And where is Alpha Logan?"

"I was hoping you could tell me," Damon replied. "You were watching me, what were you expecting to see?"

"I don't know what you are talking about," Bruce muttered as he entered the room. He looked around. The scuffle marks on the floor were not much. There was no destruction of items around. It seemed like the skilled assassin had gone down without much of a fight. Bruce cursed at Ruth inwardly for choosing someone as incompetent as this. He crouched and examined the man closely.

"She fucking underestimated you, Logan," Bruce said under his breath. He looked around, there was even no blood. He looked closer and scoffed. The man's neck had been broken. Such a clean kill.

Bruce stood up and turned to look at the Gamma. "What is your name?"

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIRAS ALEK PULLED into the pack, his shoulders were slumped from defeat and sadness. Logan was silent beside him in the passenger seat, and the witch Ava was behind. They had stopped only once in 24 hours for a toilet break and gas refill, and the whole ride was in silence, as they were all immersed in their own thoughts. He eased to a stop in front of the mansion and got out. His eyes were bloodshot, and his chin was darkened by a small stubble. Joram waited at the door. He looked a lot better than before Alek left. He still held a walking cane, but he stood firmly on both legs. Darius jumped forward and opened the door. His eyes were also bloodshot, showing that he had not slept in almost a week.Joram hobbled forward and opened the back door. If he was shocked to see Ava in the backseat, he did not show it. He bowed gracefully and extended a hand which Ava took. "Welcome." He said. He gazed over the car's roof, trying to meet Alek's eyes, but his brother looked

CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRI WAS A wolf. A real shifted wolf. And not just any type of wolf. I could tell I was a silver wolf by the color of my fur. It was gleaming white. But how had this happened?Did the ritual by the witches of my death somehow unlock my wolf spirit?I suddenly remembered the dream I had had in the prison cell where my Dad told me that there is a reason for everything. Was this the reason I was locked up and a part of the scary ritual?I looked around, not used to the heightened senses. My hearing was sharp, my sight was sharp, and different scents flooded my nose.I jumped at every sound, afraid that the witches could be coming after me so I ran deeper and deeper into the woods, trying to lose my trail. I felt more powerful than I have ever felt. I felt free and happy as I ran, jumping over logs of wood.I had no idea where I was, or where I was going, all I know is that I needed to be far away from here. As far away as possible.I ran for the next couple of hours befo

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR"WHO ARE YOU?" Alek asked as they followed the woman. She took a turn that they had not even seen in the tunnel."I swear if you are trying to play any games," Logan growled as they went deeper into the darkness."I don't blame you for not trusting me," she said. "My name is Ava. I was Claire's host." She looked back and looked at the hulking silhouette of Alek. "She was brought here by the vampire, and she was assigned to me.""And did you take care of her?" Alek growled."Yes, after all, my job was to take care of her," the witch said."She is being sarcastic," Logan said."Yeah," Alek nodded. "I got that.""My job was to make sure she was fed and did not wander off," Ava said. "I was to make her as comfortable as I could." "In the underground cave cell?" Alek scoffed."She was not there all the time," Ava snapped. "She was at my house. Sleeping on my bed and eating my meals.""I take it that you were not happy with the arrangements," Alek said."I was not,"

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIRALEK FELT IT as soon as he entered the coven. There was that sizzling invisible energy that he felt in the other sites. But this time, the energy was stronger. It was so strong that he felt the hairs on the back of his neck and arms stand. He looked at Logan who nodded to signify that he had felt it too. He clenched his fist, certain that they were at the right place. Somehow, his instinct had led them to the right place. They got to the cabins. The whole place was deserted. No sound. No sign of life. Alek looked around, feeling a deep sense of doom in his guts.Had he been too late? He asked himself."I do not think there is anyone here," Logan said in a low voice."And I can't catch her scent," Alek said."Maybe they masked it," Logan suggested. That sounded like a feasible idea, but it was unlikely. "This place is their safe forte. They would not go through all the trouble to hide this place, and still hide when inside here too." Alek said. He walked through

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR "DON'T TELL ME we aren't there yet," Logan growled awake. He sat up and grabbed the map. He looked at it and looked at the time and the speedometer. "So we should be somewhere around... here?" "Use my phone to check," Alek said. "Oh, we have internet service now?" Logan said, picking up the phone and going to maps where he tried to find out their location. "Yeah, I was pretty correct." "Then we will be there soon," Alek said. They had been driving for almost 12 hours, switched seats 3 times, and made 4 stops already. "It's a miracle the car has not given up on us already," Logan muttered. "It's not a miracle," Alek muttered. "It's a fucking expensive vehicle." Every hour he spent away from Claire without information about her whereabouts made him more irritable. The itch on his neck mark was gone, but instead, his tattoos burnt into his skin, making him even angrier. He gripped the steering wheel so tight that it threatened to break. "Text Joram," Alek

WARNING: THIS CHAPTER CONTAINS SCENES OF BLOOD, SELF-HARM, SACRIFICE, AND GORE WHICH MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME READERS.CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRTHE AIR WAS chilly and heavy. The night was dark, there was no moon. The flames on the staff danced violently, but they did not blow out.The witches opened up a path to let me walk through. I could not make out faces or even shapes. They were all like one large mass of black, but I could feel their eyes peering into my soul.I managed to control my breath as I approached Azaela. She stood in the heart of the circle. Esteavo was beside her. She turned to look at me but the vampire kept his face averted."Just so you know," Azaela said, "This will be painful, but I will make it as minimal as I possibly can.""She doesn't deserve it," Esteavo growled. "Let's get this over with. I'm done living."Azaela nodded and made a sign with her hands and the witches around recited a spell. Their voice rose as one, vibrating through the air. I spun around, star
