Selina's POV.

The iron doors creaked open with a sickening echo, and every muscle in my body tensed as I prepared for the worst.

My children.

My heart thudded so violently I thought I might pass out. I rolled over and fell on Malik.

My lips moved in a silent prayer, not to the Moon Goddess, just to fate, to mercy, to anyone listening.

Please, don’t let them hurt my babies.

But what came through that door was not what any of us expected.

Declan stepped into the open.

My mouth fell open in shock, his hair was messy, face flushed with fury, and dragging behind him, were two of her guards, chained tightly. He shoved one of them forward, and the man fell to his knees in the dirt with a grunt.

Gasps rippled through the crowd. Confusion followed.

Luna Drusilla’s smug expression vanished. “Declan,” she snapped. "What do you think you’re doing?”

He took another step forward, his eyes met hers. “Were you really going to kill those children, Mother? In front of their parents?”

Eva's POV.I staggered into the house, gasping for breath. My legs ached, my throat burned, and my heart still pounded violently against my ribs like it was trying to escape. The wind had died down before I got to the pack, but my mind was still a whirlwind of questions.Who the hell was that man?No. That thing.Nicklaus, a man in a coffin, a dagger in his chest, a voice in my head, a proposal of marriage. And then... gone. Like mist in the air.I didn’t have the luxury to process any of it as I focused solely on making it to my room without running into anyone. I needed to think... Or cry... Or both. The front door creaked open a little less noisily as I tiptoed inside, thankfully, the living room was empty, no pack warriors lounging about, no omega staff cleaning or dusting. Just silence. Exactly what I needed.I climbed the first stair quietly, one hand clutching the railing, the other still trembling from the dagger I’d pulled from a dead man's chest.“Eva.”The voice made my h

Eva’s POVI stood there, still panting, staring down at the coffin where Nicklaus's body lay... lifeless, yet somehow more alive than the version that had been beside me this whole time. The silence in the cave now was defeaning, pressing heavy on my chest. My mind was racing in a thousand directions, trying to make sense of what had just happened. I had just discovered that the only person who’d been by my side the past few days wasn’t real, not entirely, at least. That he had been a ghost, trapped in flesh that hadn’t moved in five years. And yet… he’d felt so real.“I can offer you a deal.” His voice suddenly sliced through my spinning thoughts.I blinked and turned toward him... the him still standing beside me, although in my mind like he'd said. He looked the same, calm and strangely distant, his hands clasped behind his back like he was offering me a business proposal and not standing in front of his own corpse.“A… deal?” I repeated cautiously. “What kind of deal?”He took a

Eva's POV. After the fight with Nicki, I sat beneath the tree again, brushing off the remnants of dust and dried blood on my knuckles. My chest still heaved slightly from the adrenaline, and my heart, although slower than a few minutes ago, still thumped with the taste of release, It had felt good, too good. And he was still beside me.Nicklaus.Leaning with one knee bent and the other stretched out casually like we hadn’t just made a mess. "That felt really good." I giggled excitedly.I never knew a day would come when I'll stand up for myself and actually win the fight. "Weakness is an advantage to your enemies..."They will feed on it and leave you dry." I quickly cut him off, finishing off the sentence. I can't believe I've memorized that in my head already. “Hey…” I turned to him, my voice softer than I expected. "Yes, little wolf?” He lifted a brow.I frowned at the nickname, do I even deserve that when I don't even have a wolf?I pushed that to the back of my head and f

Eva's POV.Breakfast was barely over before I jumped towards the door, heading outside. That wasn't my usual routine, I always ran back to my room immediately after breakfast while Ethan and Annabelle went out to play or visit friends. But today was different, my room wasn't safe for me anymore. I can't seem to close my eyes for a second in there without his face popping up. I couldn’t breathe in my own room anymore.Everything felt heavy. The air, my body, my thoughts. Especially my thoughts. The moment I had opened my eyes this morning, I was still trembling from the dream. Last night.I didn’t dare describe it to anyone. God, I could barely admit it to myself. But it felt so real. The way his mouth moved on mine. The way his hands...I let out a groan as I made my way towards the door. "Eva, where are you headed?" I heard mom call out. "Out." I replied curtly. "Out." She repeated, fixing her gaze on me. "That's new, you never want to go out, and you're not even going with Et

Eva's POV.I laid curled beneath my blanket, the cool breeze from the open window brushing over me, my eyes were closed, but I wasn’t asleep, sleep wouldn’t come, no matter how hard I tried. All I could see was him.The stranger in black, the one with eyes that looked like I could be lost in it if I stared too long. His voice echoed through my mind, and his presence, it had seeped into my bones, refusing to let go.I opened my eyes and sighed, rolling over to face the wall.It was just a conversation, a weird, mysterious conversation and yet it had left me feeling like I’d been cracked open, seen, and understood.“Ugh, get a grip, Eva,” I mumbled to myself, burying my face into my pillow.I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to force my mind elsewhere, but his face, those sharp cheekbones, and that long, flowing hair... wouldn’t leave. It was like he’d left a mark inside me just by being near.I suddenly heard something.A soft rustling sound. A low hiss escaped my mouth as I slowly, cur

Twenty years later. Eva's POV.Ethan and I strolled out of the house after I'd begged him to stay indoors with me for the entire week, I could only compensate him by going for a short walk, he needed the fresh air, even if I didn't. It was a serene evening, one that should have brought peace. But nothing about me has been peaceful since the past twenty years. Ethan's presence has been a comforting constant in my life. We shared everything, our thoughts, our dreams, and unfortunately, the whispers that followed me wherever I went.As we passed a group of girls near the playing grounds, their laughter ceased, replaced by hushed murmurs and sideways glances. I felt their eyes on me, their judgment as palpable as the evening breeze."Did you hear? She still hasn't found her wolf," one whispered, not bothering to lower her voice."Twenty years old and still no sign. It's unnatural," another added, her tone dripping with disdain. My heart clenched. The words, though not new, pierced deep
