Dominic’s POV

I’m walking across the field after practice when I spot Coach Margret from afar. He’s talking to some officials near the main building, gesturing with his hands like he’s explaining something important. I decide to avoid him for now, I’m not in the mood for another lecture about team responsibilities or whatever he wants to discuss today.

Instead, I head toward another direction and I sight Luna and Cassie sitting on the bleachers. Luna looks exhausted, and I can see some bruises on the side of her face. Whatever happened to her after the game yesterday that makes her disappear must have been serious.

As I approach them, I feel that familiar knot in my stomach that appears whenever I’m around Luna lately. Everything about this situation with my father and Lily feels so complicated, and Luna is right in the middle of it without even knowing the full extent of what’s happening.
