The Pack's border defense is tight-clad; the warriors are ready. Most of the smaller Packs that have pledged their allegiance to my Pack, have their warriors trained and ready to strike at my call. It's been a stressful couple of weeks for everyone. The Pack's security has been doubled and the warriors barely sleep as much as they do previously. There's an incoming war; that much we've informed the warriors. But the source of the war hasn't been fully explained. How do I explain to them that we'll be fighting against the supernatural? Why in the Goddess's name is this war coming in my time? I've been able to draft out the specifics.Odus's curse is meant to be lifted in the next full moon which is exactly three weeks from now. But I'm not certain of the exact time.An attack on my kind would have to be launched a few hours or minutes before that. Werewolves fighting alongside a marked Moon-made and her Alpha would make it impossible for t~Xyana~"What?" The question escapes my lips before I can help it. "Which of them? Adina or Fresca?""Do you have two Omegas?" Clifton asks with a concerned frown."There's a new Omega that has been helping me out since I got back. I asked about Adina and both the Omega and the pack Matron had no real answer to offer me.""Are you're just telling me now?!" Gaston yells. "I have a fuckin lot on my plate and putting the pack house to order is the least I can expect from you!"Fresh tears rush down my eyes and Declan draws me into an embrace. Clifton bites down on his lips and Dion groans, looking away.I knew at that moment that I messed up. "I'm so sorry." My lips shivered."She just got back, Alpha. She's going through a lot already. Don't heap the blame on her." Declan comes to my defence."Where is the body?" Gaston asks."At the warrior's quarters." Declan replies, staring at his phone screen. He turns the image to me and I see Adina's lifeless body. A sob breaks out of my lips as
~Xyana~I push my hands up in surrender. "Mona..." I whisper her name. "Please tell me why you're upset, and I swear I will make it right."How can I be this stupid? Alpha Zegulf showed me proof of Gideon being the bad guy. I should have let my mates know immediately I had the chance. But I was finding it hard to wrap my head around any of it. I wanted to see Gideon first and speak to him to hear his defence. That was stupid, very stupid of me. "You're going to keep quiet and do as I say." Mona hands me a duct tape. "Cut out some of that and tape it over that cute mouth of yours." She orders, a gun still pointed at me.I stare at her in defiance, Juno roaring within me. She lets out a small laugh. "Honey, this gun contains high-end fully coated silver bullets. One bullet is all it takes to put your stupid ass away for life. Now do as I say!"I nodded and got to work immediately. I pull the duct tape across my lips and watch her for further instructions. "Your legs too, Darling."I
~Xyana~Sneaking out of the Pack hospital wasn't as hard as I thought.Killian was waiting out front and Mona's car was packed towards the back entrance.Unfortunately, the gate that leads to the back entrance was locked. So I had to slip my frame down and hide away before Mona could drive out of the hospital premises. When we were certain we were in the clear, I slipped back up, laughing at our little game of sneaking around.Mona laughs when she looks sideways at me. "Can you tell me why we are sneaking around, Babes?"I fix up my seat belt and shrug. "Because those men wouldn't have let me come out if I'd told them I wanted to.""Oh, Xyan, you didn't tell them?"I shake my head. "Don't worry yourself about any of that. It's just a fun birthday party. I seriously need something to take my mind off all that has been happening around me.""Happening around you?" Mona asks, frowning. "Is everything alright? Are your mates treating you terribly
~Gaston~Clifton finishes running us through the current safety and exit options he created for the Pack members against the coming war.He also gave a thorough rundown of the current state of the Pack and its members: financially, emotionally, and every other aspect. The figures are not looking bad, and I'm impressed that none of the rumors going around has in any way affected our Pack's production level. After Clifton, Declan took over the floor and ran through his figures and needs. The warriors are very much ready for a war. They have everything they need but might require an increase in their food ration.I note it down instantly and turn to Dion, who stands and starts slowly but soon kicks into his presentation. Tech-wise, security looks great. They might need a few more armored drones to cover more grounds in readiness for the war. More secret street cameras have been installed all over the Pack to cover both allies and blindspots they never
~Xyana~I stare at my reflection in the mirror, and It feels like I'm gradually morphing into someone with a bigger purpose in life.Everything is happening at once, and as terrifying as it seems, I feel grateful that I have a role to play and that some of the strongest men I've ever known will, at one point, rely on me to save our kind. It's too shocking to be true. As I stare at my reflection, I tug my hair gently. I guess it's time I finally change my hair to a black or deep brown. New Luna, new hair, upgraded personality...'Goddess, where are these stupid thoughts coming from?' I chuckle, stepping away from the mirror.A knock comes on the door, and when I ask the visitor to come in, it turns out to be Fresca bringing in laundry. She greeted me and walked over to the walk-in closet to drop them. When she came out I decided to rephrase the usual question I've been asking her for days. Fresca, does the Alpha know that Adina doesn't work as m
