Adrian is eighteen months old when the second major crisis hits, and this time, it’s personal.

I’m in the middle of a mediation-Alpha Jennifer Black and Alpha Thomas from Mountain Peak, a water rights dispute-when my phone buzzes insistently. I ignore it. Then it buzzes again. And again.

“Excuse me,” I say, checking the screen. Fifteen missed calls from Kael, three from Eleanor, two from Alexander. My stomach drops. “I need to take this.”

I step into the hallway, calling Kael back immediately.

*Ten Years Later*Adrian is twenty years old when he mediates his first major territorial dispute without any assistance.I watch from the observation room as my son-now taller than his father, with the same steel-gray eyes and commanding presence-guides two hostile Alphas toward compromise. His power is evident in every word, every gesture, but he wields it with precision and restraint.“He’s better at this than I ever was,” I murmur to Kael.“He learned from the best.” Kael’s arm wraps around my waist. “From you.”The mediation concludes successfully. Both Alphas shake Adrian’s hand, genuine respect in their expressions. My son has become what the prophecy promised-the most powerful Alpha in generations. But more importantly, he’s become kind, ethical, dedicated to peace rather than conquest.“Mom!” Luna appears in the doorway, fifteen now and beautiful, her dark hair pulled back in a practical ponytail. “Did Adrian finish? I want to show him my new shielding technique.”Luna d

The emergency pack council meeting is called for the following evening.Word of Adrian’s incident spread fast-too fast to be natural gossip. Someone leaked it deliberately, probably to stir up exactly the kind of fear and concern that now fills the council chamber.“This is a witch hunt,” Marcus says, standing beside us as we wait for the session to begin. “They’re using a ten-year-old’s defensive action to justify their fear of the prophecy.”“Let them try,” Kael growls. “I’ve got three lawyers on standby and Luna Victoria already called to express her support.”I’m less confident. The chamber is packed with Alphas I don’t recognize, all wearing expressions ranging from concern to outright hostility. Richard sits in the front row, looking smug.Of course he’s here.Adrian is at home with Luna, both kids under heavy security with Catherine and Eleanor. I hated leaving them, but this fight requires me here.Alpha Morrison calls the session to order. “We’re here to discuss the incident

The emergency call comes at 3 AM on a Tuesday. I’m pulled from deep sleep by my phone buzzing insistently. Kael answers it before I’m fully conscious, his voice going from groggy to alert in seconds.“What? When? We’ll be there in twenty minutes.”“What’s wrong?” I ask, sitting up as he’s already out of bed, pulling on clothes.“Adrian. There’s been an incident at the training facility. He’s okay,” he adds quickly, seeing my face.“But they need us there immediately.”We wake Luna, bundle her into the car half-asleep, and make the forty-minute drive to the Junior Alpha Training Center in thirty minutes. My mind races through possibilities-training accident, fight with another Alpha, power surge he couldn’t control. The director meets us at the entrance, a stern woman named Commander Brooks. “Alpha Thorne, Luna Sage. Thank you for coming so quickly.”“What happened to our son?” Kael demands.“He’s physically unharmed. But there was an… incident during tonight’s advanced control exerci

Luna is six weeks old when I attempt my first post- baby mediation. “Are you sure you’re ready?” Kael asks, watching me try on three different professional outfits because nothing fits quite right yet. I’m sure. Dr. Vance cleared me. Luna’s eating well. Catherine’s coming to help with both kids. And it’s just one mediation-low stakes, territory boundary clarification between two friendly Alphas.” “That’s a lot of justification for a simple yes.” “I’m justifying it to myself as much as to you.” I finally settle on a dress that accommodates my still-changing body. “I need to do this, Kael. Need to prove I can still be Luna Sage, not just Luna Grace’s mother.” “You’re both. You’ve always been both.” “I know. But I need to feel it.” I adjust the dress one more time. “Besides, the pilot program evaluation is in two weeks. I should stay sharp.” He doesn’t argue further, just kisses me and wishes me luck. The mediation goes smoothly-so smoothly it’s almost boring. Two Alphas w

I go into labor three weeks early, which shouldn’t surprise anyone given my track record. It’s 2 AM when the first contraction wakes me. For a moment, I think it’s just Braxton Hicks-I’ve been having those for weeks. But then the second one hits, stronger, unmistakable. “Kael,” I shake his shoulder. “It’s time.” He’s awake instantly, going from dead asleep to fully alert Alpha mode in seconds, “Are you sure?” “Very sure. And my water just broke, so yeah, we need to go.” What follows is controlled chaos. Kael calls Dr. Vange while simultaneously getting dressed and grabbing our hospital bag. I call Catherine to come stay with Adrian, who’s still asleep and has no idea he’s about to become a big brother tonight instead of three weeks from now. “How far apart are the contractions?” Kael asks, helping me into comfortable clothes. “About five minutes. We have time, but not a lot.” Catherine arrives within fifteen minutes-she must have broken several speed limits. “Go,” she says, kis

Sage’s POVThe next morning, I arrived at the office to find a woman sitting at my desk. Not just any woman. A tall, leggy brunette in a designer suit that probably cost more than my monthly rent, casually flipping through the filesI’d left organized in my inbox.“Excuse me,” I said, my voice shar

Sage’s POV“Who’s this?” Jade Sterling asked, her ice-blue eyes sliding over me like I was a piece of furniture she was considering having removed.“My assistant, Miss Draven,” Kael said, his tone flat and professional. He gestured toward me without looking. “She’ll be taking notes.”“Another assi

Sage’s POVBy the end of my first week at Thorne Enterprises, I’d learned three important things:One: Kael Thorne was a perfectionist who expected everyone around him to be psychic. Two: I was apparently very good at pretending I wasn’t three months pregnant and terrified.Three: My morning sickne

Sage’s POVI stood outside Thorne Tower at exactly 7:45 AM on Monday morning, wearing my only professional outfit and trying to convince myself I wasn’t about to make a huge mistake. The building looked even more intimidating in daylight. Sixty floors of black glass and steel piercing the sky, ma
