THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW

She kissed Ethan’s forehead one more time before quietly stepping out.

Dr. Myers stood waiting outside. He was polite as always, but his face gave him away. That solemn look doctors wore when they had to deliver something that hurt.

“Ms. Russo,” he greeted softly. “Good morning.”

“Morning Doctor,” she replied, barely above a whisper. “Is… is it about Ethan’s tests?”

“Yes,” he said, glancing down at the file in his hands. “Let’s go to the consultation room. It’s better to talk privately.”

Karline nodded, her legs heavy as she followed him down the hallway. Isabella walked beside her, clutching her rosary, muttering quiet prayers in Italian under her breath.

The small consultation room was cold. Too cold. The air smelled faintly of antiseptic and coffee.

Dr. Myers gestured for them to sit, and Karline did, her palms already damp.

“I’ll be honest with you,” he began gently, his voice soft but firm. “We received all of Ethan’s results this morning.

  • Rejected by my Husband    Chapter 50

REID'S POINT OF VIEW The city outside my apartment windows was quiet.A sharp contrast to the noise in my head.I loosened my tie, rolled my sleeves, and sank into the armchair. The familiar burn of whisky slid down my throat, and for a moment, everything felt… still.Still, but not peaceful.Never peaceful.Karline’s face kept flickering behind my eyes, the way she looked at me today night, all defiance and pain mixed together like poison and honey.Even after five years, her eyes could still cut through every defense I’d built.I was halfway through my drink when the doorbell rang.A frown creased my forehead. It was past ten. Who the hell..I opened the door. And froze.“Natalie?”She stood there, smiling as if she had every right to be on my doorstep, a suitcase beside her and a silk scarf wrapped neatly around her neck.“Surprised to see me?” she said lightly, her tone too cheerful for this hour.I stared at her for a moment, then stepped aside just enough to keep the conversati

  • Rejected by my Husband    Chapter 48

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW Karline’s heels echoed across the marble floor as she walked out of the hall, her breath trembling. The laughter, the music, the lights, all faded behind her. She didn’t care if people saw her leave. She just needed to breathe. To get away from him. Her eyes were blurry with tears as she stepped into the cold night air. The wind brushed against her bare shoulders, cooling her skin but doing nothing to ease the ache in her chest. She walked faster toward the parking lot, fumbling for her car keys with shaking hands. Her heart still raced with anger. With pain. With memories she didn’t want to remember. The drive to the hospital was long, the road quiet and empty. Streetlights blurred past as she fought the sting in her eyes, gripping the steering wheel tight, praying Ethan was okay. Isabella sat on the small chair beside the bed, her eyes tired but gentle, a wet cloth in hand as she dabbed Ethan’s forehead. Matteo stood by the window, his arms crossed

  • Rejected by my Husband    Chapter 47

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW “Stop playing your dirty games with me, Reid,” Karline snapped, her teeth gritted, voice trembling with anger. Reid’s jaw tightened. He didn’t let go of her wrist. If anything, his grip only grew firmer. “Which games, Karline?” he asked, his voice low but sharp, the edge of his anger just beneath the surface. “Tell me. Which dirty games are you talking about?” Her lips parted, breath quick, chest heaving. “You know exactly what I mean!” Reid leaned closer, his expression dark, eyes blazing. “No, enlighten me..” Her heart pounded. “You_” “Which dirty games?.” His tone cut her off, colder than the marble floor beneath them. “You have to follow every rule I give you. Every order. Just like you do every day..” his voice dropped to a quiet growl, “..tearing yourself apart just for monthly payment, it's your job right? not my dirty game?” Karline’s breath hitched. Her eyes filled with fury and humiliation all at once. “You’re disgusting,” she whispered.

  • Rejected by my Husband    Chapter 46

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW The moment Karline turned, she froze. Her smile faded, her breath caught halfway.Because standing near Reid, was Natalie. For a second, the world seemed to tilt. The warm golden lights of the ballroom blurred, the hum of people laughing and the soft violin faded in her ears. All she could see was that familiar woman, tall, elegant, with her hair perfectly pinned and that same polite, honeyed smile that always felt too sharp to be sweet.Natalie.Karline’s hands clenched at her sides, nails digging into her palms. Something inside her snapped, a bitter, fiery ache that made it hard to breathe. So that’s why. That’s why he came back so calm, so controlled. He had brought her with him.The same woman whose words destroyed everything.Reid turned when he noticed Karline’s expression, confusion flickering in his usually unreadable eyes. “Karline..”She cut him off with a bitter laugh, stepping closer but keeping her distance at the same time. “You can dance wi

  • Rejected by my Husband    Chapter 45

THIRD PERSON POINT OF VIEW “I don’t know how to dance, Mr. Carter,” Karline said softly, trying to sound polite. Her voice was steady, but her lips carried that small, sharp smile,.the kind that hides far too much behind it.Reid’s gaze stayed on her. calm and silent. But in that silence, there was a strange heaviness that made her chest tighten. She stood there, clutching her small purse with both hands, trying not to meet his eyes.He looked composed, powerful, untouchable, everything she didn’t want to see right now.He took a slow step toward her. “You don’t?” he asked, his tone quiet but firm.Karline gave him a cold smile. “No, I really don’t, Mr. Carter. You should ask someone else. I’m sure your old secretary would love to.”That last part slipped out before she could stop herself.Reid’s brow arched just slightly, his eyes narrowing, not in anger, but in something else. Something unreadable. He didn’t speak for a long moment. The air between them stretched thin, tight. The
