Harriet’s POV

I stood at the edge of the place I had fled when my lover had denied me, I remembered his words that we would never be together. The tears that I had cried because of him. He had made me feel worthless and unwanted and weak. I was just an omega in his eyes.

But then, I’d met Gino. He was everything that Damon wasn’t. Yet, Damon had followed me to France and believed we were mates? I couldn’t think of anything worse than being with someone who hadn’t seen my worth from the start. All I was to him was someone to have sex with. He had chosen Aurora after all, she was a better fit for him.

Leaving this pack had been the right thing to do, I thought I’d be happy with Gino. A fresh start away from my old life and yet there it was, seeping its way back into my new life like a snake.

I had to face Damon head on and tell him straight that we were over, he had made his decision and it was Gino I wanted to be with.

Suddenly Sandra came rushing towards me with the b

Chapter One “Harriet, you know we can’t be together; you are an omega, and I am the alpha of this pack. We can’t be anything more than lovers.” Damon stated as he laughed coldly in my face I felt a sting of rejection and disappointment as Damon's words hit me like a punch to the gut. I had been hoping that he would see me differently, that he would see past the societal norms that dictated our roles as omega and alpha. But it seemed he was just as bound by those norms as the rest of the pack. I tried to keep my emotions in check, but it was hard to hear him dismiss our feelings like that. I felt like I was just a means to an end for him, a way to satisfy his desires without real commitment or love. "I thought you felt something for me," I said, trying to keep my voice steady. "I thought we had something special." Damon's laughter sent a chill down my spine. "You're an omega, Harriet. You're meant to be loyal and obedient. You're not meant to be loved or cherished

Where are you going?" my best friend Sandra asked as I threw my few belongings into a suitcase from underneath my bed. I hesitated, unsure of how to answer. I didn't know how much she knew about the pack's dynamics, and I didn't want to reveal too much. "Just leaving for a little while," I said, sounding casual. "I need some time to think." Sandra's eyes narrowed. "Think about what? You're not even telling me what's going on." I sighed, feeling a sense of guilt wash over me. I didn't want to lie to my best friend, but I didn't want to reveal the truth. Not yet, at least. I couldn't tell her. I couldn't tell my best friend that I had been sleeping with the alpha of our pack for the last five months of my life. It was a secret eating away at me, making me feel like a traitor and a fool. And now, as I was preparing to leave, I couldn't bear the thought of telling her about Damon's rejection. It was like a fresh wound, still raw and bleeding. I thought back to ho

I stepped off the bus and onto the city's bustling streets, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me. Excitement, anxiety, and a hint of uncertainty all battled for dominance as I gazed up at the towering skyscrapers and endless streams of people rushing. This was it. My new life. My new identity. I took a deep breath, trying to calm my racing heart. I had left behind the pack, the drama, and the toxic relationships that had been suffocating me. I had left behind Damon and Aurora, and the memories still lingered like a nasty wound. As I made my way through the crowds, I couldn't help but feel a sense of disorientation. The sounds, the smells, the sights - everything was so different from what I was used to. I felt like a fish out of water, struggling to keep my head above the surface. But as I looked around at the unfamiliar buildings and people, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was starting from scratch. That everything I had known and loved was behind me and

The following day, I woke up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. The room was still quiet, with only the occasional sound of cars driving by outside breaking the silence. I got out of bed and began to get dressed, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation building inside me. Gino obeyed his word, arriving at the doorstep at 10 am sharp. He was dressed in a casual but stylish outfit, and he looked like he had just stepped out of a magazine ad. I felt a flutter in my chest as I took in the sight of him. "Hey," he said with a smile as he handed me a cup of coffee. "I brought breakfast. I hope you like it." I took the coffee from him, feeling grateful towards him. "Thanks, Gino," I said. "You're going out of your way for me." He shrugged. "No problem, Harriet. I'm happy to help out a fellow human in need. Now, are you ready to explore the city?" I nodded, feeling a sense of excitement wash over me. What would the day bring? Would Gino show me around the city, or

“I don't have anything to wear for a job like that, and what experience do I need since I have no idea. Where I come from, I don't... Well, it's a long story. “I stopped myself before I revealed anything about my past to Gino. He was watching me intently. “Harriet, I want you to know that I am here for you. Whatever happened in your past doesn't change my opinion of you, and I believe everyone deserves a chance to better themselves,” he said seriously. I glanced at him and sighed. “Even people who bump into you and cause you to spill the coffee? A smile played on his lips, and he chuckled. “Yes, even those people.” Gino's words touched me deeply. I couldn't believe that someone like him existed, someone who was so kind and understanding. I took a deep breath before responding, "Thank you, Gino. That means a lot to me." I hesitated momentarily before continuing, "I don't have any experience in a working job like the one you mentioned. And I don't have any proper clothes for i

It was my first day at my new job, and I felt a mix of nerves and excitement as I got up and showered. Gino had sent a car for me to be picked up and dropped off at the building as he had to attend an important meeting, but he had promised me that I would be in good hands. As I arrived at the sleek, modern building that housed the company, I was impressed by the buzzing energy and the sense of purpose in the air. I walked through the glass doors and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who directed me to the HR department for my orientation. As I made my way through the bustling office, I couldn't help but feel a ripple of excitement at the thought of being a part of such an innovative company. “Aw, yes, the new girl.” A man with a clipboard gestured me to follow him, and I was soon introduced to Fiona, a warm and welcoming employee assigned to guide me on my first day. Fiona explained to me the company's mission and vision, which was to create technology solutions tha

I couldn't believe what I was agreeing to. Twenty-five thousand dollars to pose as Gino's wife? It was a lot of money, but was it worth it? I wasn't sure. But as I looked into Gino's eyes, I saw something there that made me hesitate. Something that made me want to say yes. Gino's eyes sparkled with amusement as he nodded. "Excellent. I knew I could count on you, Harriet. You're a smart businesswoman, and I know you'll do a great job." I felt a flutter in my chest as he released my hand. "So, when do we start?" I asked, trying to sound casual. Gino grinned. "We start tomorrow. I have a meeting with my partners tomorrow afternoon, and I want you to be by my side." I nodded, trying to process everything that was happening. This was going to be a wild ride, but I was ready for it. As we walked back to the office, Fiona caught up to us. "Hey, guys! What's going on?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Gino turned to her. "Harriet and I are getting married," he sai

As the meeting dragged on, I found myself zoning out, lost in thought. What was Gino really looking for in this fake marriage? Was it just a business arrangement, or was there something more? I glanced over at Gino, trying to catch his eye, but he was too engrossed in the meeting to notice. His eyes were fixed intently on the papers in front of him, his brow furrowed in concentration. The meeting finally came to a close, and we left the conference room together. Gino turned to me with a smile. "Well, that's done," he said. "The merger is set to close next week." I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. It was over, and now we could move on to the next step. But as we walked back to the office, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Gino seemed distant, preoccupied. And I couldn't help but wonder what was going on behind those piercing blue eyes. We spent the rest of the day going over the details of our fake marriage, discussing everythin

Harriet’s POV I didn't trust Aurora. Not one bit. She hated me, and now she had even more reason to try and destroy my life. I couldn't let that happen. I had to face Damon and end all of this once and for all. Gino was the one I wanted to be with, nobody else. What had started as a contract was now very much real for me! There was no way I would let Aurora come along and get in the way of anything. I would wait and bide my time, but she wasn't going to get away with anything. I was going to make her sorry for ever messing with me. “Gino, let's go home,” I told him as I slipped my hand into his and smiled up at him. I decided that once he was asleep, I would sneak out and go back to the packhouse. Damon needed to know that I was off-limits. I would never be his little sidepiece again; he deserved nothing from me. “Sure, honey.” He half smiled back, and I could already see that he was stressed out from all this. I squeezed his hand and assured him that we would be okay.

The words hung in the air between us, sharp and heavy. I watched as surprise flickered across Harriet’s face, briefly extinguishing the fire of her anger. “What?” she breathed, her eyes wide with confusion. “Your what?” “Step-sister,” I repeated, forcing myself to stay calm, though my insides were twisting with anxiety. “Our parents married when I was young. We grew up together, but it was a complicated relationship. After I left the pack, I thought I’d never have to deal with that side of my life again.” As I spoke, I could see pieces clicking into place in her mind. “So, she’s family, but… that doesn’t explain why she’s a threat to us.” “Our relationship has always been strained. When I left after our parents death, Aurora took it personally. She felt abandoned, and now she wants to force me back into the fold—into a life I refuse to be part of.” Harriet’s expression shifted, the fiery anger ebbing but not entirely gone. “So she feels betrayed by you, then? That doesn’t e

Gino’s POV My phone buzzed against my thigh, pulling me from my spiraling thoughts. It was a message from Harriet, a simple question that carried the weight of our unspoken bond. “Harriet:Hey, everything okay? You were gone longer than expected. Whats going on?” I stared at the screen, recalling the way she looked at me—full of trust, love, and a slight hint of worry. My resolve crumbled. The irony of the situation nearly choked me. I had wanted to protect her; I had built walls around us to keep her safe, and now they felt like prison bars. She deserved honesty, the kind that grew in the light rather than thrived in shadow. Aurora should have stayed away, she should never have come to find me or Harriet. If this so called mate of Harriet’s thought that he was going to take her from me then he could think again. I took a deep breath and typed back, my fingers trembling as I struggled to find the right words. “Gino: I need to talk to you about something important. Wait

Gino’s POV The revelation hit me like a punch to the gut. I staggered back, instinctively trying to process the weight of her words. Harriet—my sweet, unwavering Harriet—was tied to a world I had fought tirelessly to escape. My mind raced as I pieced together this unexpected twist, my resolve hardening into something akin to iron. “No,” I whispered, almost as if saying it aloud could negate the implications of what Aurora had just disclosed. “You’re lying.” The defiance in her eyes morphed into something darker, something that felt almost triumphant. “Am I? You think I’d come here without intel? You may have forgotten the intricacies of pack politics, but I haven’t. I know every whisper, every secret. And I know what Alpha Damon wants. Harriet is a prize, Gino—a beacon of hope for someone who wishes to restore what’s been broken. Your ‘perfect little world’ is clashing against the realities of a power struggle you’ve completely ignored.” My heart pounded in my ch

Gino’s POV When I stepped into that small, dimly lit room, I had to steel myself against a flood of memories that rushed back with a vengeance. Aurora. The very name sent a cascade of anger and regret through me. I had thought I had left that life behind and erased the past with a stroke of ambition and the determination to carve out something new. But looking at her now, defiant and stubborn on that sagging mattress, I felt the weight of our shared history settle heavily on my shoulders. Aurora had been part of my old pack, back when I was just another wolf trying to find his place in a world that didn’t care about the complexities of loyalty or betrayal. We had once been close, bound by blood, shared difficulties, and the unfiltered anguish of being part of something bigger than ourselves. It had been years since I walked away, trading in fangs and claws for business suits and boardroom tables, but there was still a flicker of that bond lingering in the recesses of my mind. An

Aurora’s POVI came to with a pounding headache, dark shapes surrounding me like shadows. The air was thick and musty, smelling of stale cigarettes and something sweet that made my stomach churn. As I blinked against the dimness, the jarring recollection of the last moments before my blackout hit me with the force of a freight train. Gino had been there, towering over me, eyes narrowed like angry coals. I had underestimated him, and that mistake had cost me more than I could bear.Panic began to swell in my chest as I pushed myself up, groaning at the ache radiating through my skull. I was in a small, sparsely furnished room, the low light straining to break through the filthy window. “What the hell?” I muttered, shaking off the remnants of disorientation. My instincts kicked in, hyper-alert, adrenaline coursing through me as I assessed my surroundings.I was trapped.Rubbing my temples, I sat on the edge of what appeared to be an old, sagging mattress, momentarily flustered by the re

Aurora’s POV The remnants of my conversation with Damon clung to the air like smoke that refused to dissipate. I paced the confines of my room, the walls feeling like they were closing in on me. How dare he think he could rekindle something with Harriet after everything that had happened? I had given him the world, and yet, he still pined for a woman he had already cast aside. It was infuriating. I had left him simmering in his own regrets after our last confrontation, and part of me reveled in his pain. Yet, the other part—the part that craved dominance and control—could not shake the feeling of annoyance that gnawed at me. It was one thing to hurt him, to see him broken and desperate, but the thought of Harriet standing in his way? That sent a surge of envy through me like molten steel. “What could she possibly have that I don’t?” I muttered, my reflection glaring back at me in the mirror. I was everything he ever desired—charming, beautiful, cunning. And yet, he chose to lame

Damon's POV “What a sight, Damon,” she drawled, leaning against the door frame with an air of superiority. “You pacing like a caged animal, and for what? To win back your precious Harriet? How adorable.” I clenched my jaw, fighting against the rising tide of anger and frustration. “What do you want, Aurora?” “Oh, I think you know,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I just couldn’t help but overhear your little heart-to-heart with your Beta about how much you miss your omega. It’s like watching a soap opera unfold—the tragic hero pining after his lost love. But lo and behold, she’s with someone else now!” “Enough.” My voice came out harsher than intended, and I felt Lucas’s eyes dart back and forth between us, sensing the tension thickening like a stormcloud. “Enough?” Aurora laughed, the sound harsh and cutting. “It’s rich coming from you, Damon. After all, you’re the one who cast her aside for me. Look how that turned out. You thought you could juggle two live
