“I don't have anything to wear for a job like that, and what experience do I need since I have no idea. Where I come from, I don't... Well, it's a long story. “I stopped myself before I revealed anything about my past to Gino. He was watching me intently. “Harriet, I want you to know that I am here for you. Whatever happened in your past doesn't change my opinion of you, and I believe everyone deserves a chance to better themselves,” he said seriously. I glanced at him and sighed. “Even people who bump into you and cause you to spill the coffee? A smile played on his lips, and he chuckled. “Yes, even those people.”

Gino's words touched me deeply. I couldn't believe that someone like him existed, someone who was so kind and understanding. I took a deep breath before responding, "Thank you, Gino. That means a lot to me."

I hesitated momentarily before continuing, "I don't have any experience in a working job like the one you mentioned. And I don't have any proper clothes for it either."

“We're going shopping," Gino replied, his eyes sparkling excitedly. "I want to get you some new clothes to make you feel confident and prepared for the job."

At first, I was hesitant to accept his offer. I didn't want to burden him, but Gino wouldn't let me refuse. He insisted that he wanted to help me get on my feet and that I deserved a chance to start anew.

As we walked through the crowded streets, Gino's enthusiasm was infectious. He pointed out different stores and asked for my opinion, laughing when I hesitated to decide. He was patient and kind, and I felt more at ease with him.

Finally, we arrived at a trendy boutique that Gino had recommended. The sales associate greeted us warmly and showed us racks of stylish clothes. Gino let me pick out a few pieces that caught my eye, and then he took over, selecting more outfits he thought would suit me.

As we tried on clothes, Gino's encouragement and praise made me feel like a queen. He told me how beautiful I looked, how confident I seemed, and how proud he was of me for taking this chance.

When we finally left the store, I wore a stunning outfit that made me feel like a new person. Gino smiled at me, his eyes shining with warmth. "You look amazing, Harriet," he said. "I'm so proud of you for taking this chance."

I felt a lump form in my throat as I looked at Gino, grateful for his kindness and support. "Thank you," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

Gino's face softened as he looked at me. "You're welcome, Harriet," he said. "I'm happy to be able to help you in any way I can."

As we walked to the car, Gino's arm casually slung over my shoulder, and I felt a sense of belonging I hadn't experienced in a long time. It was as if he was claiming me as his own, and I was grateful for it.

"Thank you for today," I said, feeling a sense of gratitude wash over me. "I appreciate it."

Gino smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "You're welcome, Harriet. I'm just glad I could help."

As we pulled up to the coffee shop, Gino turned to me and said, "You know, Harriet, I think you're going to do great things. You need a little push and some confidence."

I felt a surge of emotion at his words, and I knew that I would do everything in my power to make him proud.

As we walked into the coffee shop, Gino's phone rang. He pulled it out and answered it, his expression serious. "What's going on?" he asked, his voice low.

I waited patiently, watching as he listened to the person on the other end of the line. After a few moments, he hung up and turned to me.

"Sorry about that," he said. "I have to go take care of something. But don't worry, I will ensure my driver Reg will take you back to Raquels, and I will call you this evening.

I nodded, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over me. But before I could say anything, Gino leaned in and kissed me gently on the forehead.

“I can come with you?” I blurted the words out before I could stop myself. My sudden offer took Gino aback, and he shook his head.

"I think that's unnecessary," Gino said, his eyes locked on mine. "But thank you for the offering. I'll be back soon, and we can continue to work on getting you ready for your new job."

I nodded, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over me. But before I could say anything, Gino leaned in and kissed me gently on the forehead.

As he walked away, I felt a lump form in my throat. I couldn't believe that someone like him existed, someone who was so kind and understanding. I took a deep breath and watched as he disappeared into the crowd.

Reg got in behind the wheel and started the engine, pulling out of the coffee shop's parking lot with ease. As we drove through the quiet streets, I couldn't help but feel a sense of calm wash over me. The gentle hum of the engine and the soft music playing in the background created a soothing atmosphere, and I relaxed into the seat.

Reg chatted with me about his day, sharing stories about his adventures and misadventures. I listened with a smile, feeling connected to him as we drove through the city. He was kind and gentle, and I felt grateful to have him as my escort.

As we approached Raquels' B&B, Reg pulled into the driveway and pulled up to the entrance. "We're here," he said, turning off the engine. "Raquel's waiting for you inside."

I thanked him again for his kindness and hospitality, and he smiled warmly before leaving the car. He helped me out of the passenger seat and walked me to the door.

She looked up from her book and smiled, her eyes crinkling at the corners. "Harriet, dear! Welcome back. I'm so glad you're doing well."

Raquel gestured to the chair across from her, and I sat down, feeling a sense of comfort. She poured me a cup of tea and handed it to me, her hands gentle and kind.

As we sat there, sipping our tea and chatting about nothing in particular, Raquel's eyes sparkled with curiosity. "So, what brings you to the city?" she asked, her voice soft and gentle.

I hesitated for a moment before answering. "I just had a bad break-up," I said finally. "And I wanted a fresh start."

Raquel nodded sympathetically. "Ah, I know how that can be tough," she said. "But sometimes it's just what we need to move forward."

We sat there for a moment in silence, sipping our tea and enjoying each other's company. Then Raquel spoke up again. "So, tell me about yourself," she said. "What do you like to do for fun?"

I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude for her kindness and interest. "I like to read and take long walks," I said. "And I love trying new foods and drinks."

Raquel laughed. "You're going to love it here then," she said. "There's always something new to discover. I see you have been shopping. Anything nice?” she asked curiously. I smiled and nodded excitedly.

“Gino insisted on it since he's offered a job where he works,” I informed her.

“Gino is very kind and caring,” she stated as she sipped her drink.

As we continued to chat, I felt a sense of comfort and belonging wash over me. It was as if I had finally found a place to be myself and not worry about being judged or criticised.

It was my first day at my new job, and I felt a mix of nerves and excitement as I got up and showered. Gino had sent a car for me to be picked up and dropped off at the building as he had to attend an important meeting, but he had promised me that I would be in good hands. As I arrived at the sleek, modern building that housed the company, I was impressed by the buzzing energy and the sense of purpose in the air. I walked through the glass doors and was greeted by a friendly receptionist who directed me to the HR department for my orientation. As I made my way through the bustling office, I couldn't help but feel a ripple of excitement at the thought of being a part of such an innovative company. “Aw, yes, the new girl.” A man with a clipboard gestured me to follow him, and I was soon introduced to Fiona, a warm and welcoming employee assigned to guide me on my first day. Fiona explained to me the company's mission and vision, which was to create technology solutions tha

I couldn't believe what I was agreeing to. Twenty-five thousand dollars to pose as Gino's wife? It was a lot of money, but was it worth it? I wasn't sure. But as I looked into Gino's eyes, I saw something there that made me hesitate. Something that made me want to say yes. Gino's eyes sparkled with amusement as he nodded. "Excellent. I knew I could count on you, Harriet. You're a smart businesswoman, and I know you'll do a great job." I felt a flutter in my chest as he released my hand. "So, when do we start?" I asked, trying to sound casual. Gino grinned. "We start tomorrow. I have a meeting with my partners tomorrow afternoon, and I want you to be by my side." I nodded, trying to process everything that was happening. This was going to be a wild ride, but I was ready for it. As we walked back to the office, Fiona caught up to us. "Hey, guys! What's going on?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Gino turned to her. "Harriet and I are getting married," he sai

As the meeting dragged on, I found myself zoning out, lost in thought. What was Gino really looking for in this fake marriage? Was it just a business arrangement, or was there something more? I glanced over at Gino, trying to catch his eye, but he was too engrossed in the meeting to notice. His eyes were fixed intently on the papers in front of him, his brow furrowed in concentration. The meeting finally came to a close, and we left the conference room together. Gino turned to me with a smile. "Well, that's done," he said. "The merger is set to close next week." I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. It was over, and now we could move on to the next step. But as we walked back to the office, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. Gino seemed distant, preoccupied. And I couldn't help but wonder what was going on behind those piercing blue eyes. We spent the rest of the day going over the details of our fake marriage, discussing everythin

As we entered the apartment, Gino's eyes never left mine, and I felt a flutter in my chest. He walked ahead of me, his long strides eating up the distance to the living room. I followed him, my heart pounding in my ears. He stopped before the floor-to-ceiling windows, gazing out at the city skyline. The silence was oppressive, and I felt I was waiting for something to happen. Finally, he turned to me, his eyes still burning with intensity. "I think it's time we talked about what's going on here," he said, his voice low and husky. My heart skipped a beat as I realised that this was it. This was the moment when everything would change. "What do you mean?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Gino walked closer to me, his eyes never leaving mine. "I think we've been playing this game too long," he said. "I think it's time we stopped pretending and started being honest with each other. I want real honesty, and we should get to know each other better since we will s

The morning sun poured into my room, casting a warm glow that chased away the remnants of the night’s uncertainties. I sat in bed, stretching and recalling the kiss that lingered on my lips like a dream I didn't want to forget. Today was the day of our shopping expedition, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement mixed with nervous energy. As I picked out an outfit, I considered how much had changed in such a short time. I slipped on a simple tailored dress that hugged my figure in all the right places and, after some deliberation, decided on a light jacket. I wanted to impress Gino, but more importantly, I wanted to feel confident. "Wow, you look stunning. I might have to keep you around as my fake wife a little longer," Gino teased. I laughed, feeling my cheeks blush. "Well, I'm glad to hear that because I'm still trying to find the perfect outfit to impress your family later." “Trust me, with you as my date, I'm pretty sure my parents will love you,” he said, ope

“I just started as a receptionist," I said, directing attention to Gino's mother. "I'm enjoying it so far. It's a great environment, and I’m learning a lot." Gino's father nodded appreciatively. "That's wonderful! A good receptionist is the backbone of any business. And don’t get me started on the importance of first impressions. You’re already off to a fantastic start with that dress,” he added, gesturing at my outfit. Gino chimed in with a playful glint in his eye. “Told you she would stun everyone, didn’t I? Harriet is also quite talented at organising events. We might need her for family gatherings!” I felt a blush creeping up my cheeks again at the compliments and the easy banter Gino shared with his family. They made me feel part of their joyful chaos. Just then, Gino’s mom stood up, heading toward the kitchen while calling back to us, “Who wants dessert? I made my famous tiramisu!” A chorus of excited responses followed, and I felt my nervousness dissipa

The next day, I woke up to find that Gino had already left. I wasn't sure where he had gone, but it was a hard pill for me to swallow as I sat in the silent apartment alone. I stood up and walked over to the window. It was a breathtaking view, and I knew I was lucky to be here, but my thoughts soon wandered to my past. How did they feel that I had left the pack? Had Damon even noticed? I wondered how Sandra must be feeling. I had promised to call her, and still, I hadn't. I hesitated as my eyes fell on the mobile on the kitchen side that Gino had bought for me. I hadn't even used it. Maybe I should call my best friend to tell her I was okay and still alive. As soon as I picked up the shiny phone, I felt the nerves kick in. My fingers trembled slightly as I turned it over, the sleek surface reflecting my uncertain expression. I took a deep breath, reminding myself that Sandra would be relieved to hear from me, but the weight of guilt hung heavy in my chest. M

The weight of his words hung heavily between us, a reassuring balm to the sting of Trudie’s outburst. I let out a shaky breath, trying to process both the chaos of the moment and Gino’s presence as my anchor. “Thank you for handling that,” I said, my voice steadier now. “I didn’t expect someone from your past to show up like that, let alone to accuse me of… replacing her.” I stepped back, creating a little distance; I still wasn’t sure how to navigate this new territory. Gino moved as if to close the gap again, but something in my demeanour made him pause. “You didn’t replace anyone, Harriet” His sincerity shone through his bright, unyielding eyes. “I just… I never thought I’d be stepping into someone else’s shoes, even if it’s unintentional,” I confessed, feeling a warmth creeping into my cheeks. “It’s hard not to feel like you’re just going to slip back into that old life with her.” “There’s no going back for me, not now. Gino’s POV My phone buzzed against my thigh, pulling me from my spiraling thoughts. It was a message from Harriet, a simple question that carried the weight of our unspoken bond. “Harriet:Hey, everything okay? You were gone longer than expected. Whats going on?” I stared at the screen, recalling the way she looked at me—full of trust, love, and a slight hint of worry. My resolve crumbled. The irony of the situation nearly choked me. I had wanted to protect her; I had built walls around us to keep her safe, and now they felt like prison bars. She deserved honesty, the kind that grew in the light rather than thrived in shadow. Aurora should have stayed away, she should never have come to find me or Harriet. If this so called mate of Harriet’s thought that he was going to take her from me then he could think again. I took a deep breath and typed back, my fingers trembling as I struggled to find the right words. “Gino: I need to talk to you about something important. Wait

Gino’s POV The revelation hit me like a punch to the gut. I staggered back, instinctively trying to process the weight of her words. Harriet—my sweet, unwavering Harriet—was tied to a world I had fought tirelessly to escape. My mind raced as I pieced together this unexpected twist, my resolve hardening into something akin to iron. “No,” I whispered, almost as if saying it aloud could negate the implications of what Aurora had just disclosed. “You’re lying.” The defiance in her eyes morphed into something darker, something that felt almost triumphant. “Am I? You think I’d come here without intel? You may have forgotten the intricacies of pack politics, but I haven’t. I know every whisper, every secret. And I know what Alpha Damon wants. Harriet is a prize, Gino—a beacon of hope for someone who wishes to restore what’s been broken. Your ‘perfect little world’ is clashing against the realities of a power struggle you’ve completely ignored.” My heart pounded in my ch

Gino’s POV When I stepped into that small, dimly lit room, I had to steel myself against a flood of memories that rushed back with a vengeance. Aurora. The very name sent a cascade of anger and regret through me. I had thought I had left that life behind and erased the past with a stroke of ambition and the determination to carve out something new. But looking at her now, defiant and stubborn on that sagging mattress, I felt the weight of our shared history settle heavily on my shoulders. Aurora had been part of my old pack, back when I was just another wolf trying to find his place in a world that didn’t care about the complexities of loyalty or betrayal. We had once been close, bound by blood, shared difficulties, and the unfiltered anguish of being part of something bigger than ourselves. It had been years since I walked away, trading in fangs and claws for business suits and boardroom tables, but there was still a flicker of that bond lingering in the recesses of my mind. An

As I blinked against the dimness, the jarring recollection of the last moments before my blackout hit me with the force of a freight train. Gino had been there, towering over me, eyes narrowed like angry coals. I had underestimated him, and that mistake had cost me more than I could bear.Panic began to swell in my chest as I pushed myself up, groaning at the ache radiating through my skull. I was in a small, sparsely furnished room, the low light straining to break through the filthy window. “What the hell?” I muttered, shaking off the remnants of disorientation. My instincts kicked in, hyper-alert, adrenaline coursing through me as I assessed my surroundings.I was trapped.Rubbing my temples, I sat on the edge of what appeared to be an old, sagging mattress, momentarily flustered by the re

Aurora’s POV The remnants of my conversation with Damon clung to the air like smoke that refused to dissipate. I paced the confines of my room, the walls feeling like they were closing in on me. How dare he think he could rekindle something with Harriet after everything that had happened? I had given him the world, and yet, he still pined for a woman he had already cast aside. It was infuriating. I had left him simmering in his own regrets after our last confrontation, and part of me reveled in his pain. Yet, the other part—the part that craved dominance and control—could not shake the feeling of annoyance that gnawed at me. It was one thing to hurt him, to see him broken and desperate, but the thought of Harriet standing in his way? That sent a surge of envy through me like molten steel. “What could she possibly have that I don’t?” I muttered, my reflection glaring back at me in the mirror. I was everything he ever desired—charming, beautiful, cunning. And yet, he chose to lame

Damon's POV “What a sight, Damon,” she drawled, leaning against the door frame with an air of superiority. “You pacing like a caged animal, and for what? To win back your precious Harriet? How adorable.” I clenched my jaw, fighting against the rising tide of anger and frustration. “What do you want, Aurora?” “Oh, I think you know,” she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “I just couldn’t help but overhear your little heart-to-heart with your Beta about how much you miss your omega. It’s like watching a soap opera unfold—the tragic hero pining after his lost love. But lo and behold, she’s with someone else now!” “Enough.” My voice came out harsher than intended, and I felt Lucas’s eyes dart back and forth between us, sensing the tension thickening like a stormcloud. “Enough?” Aurora laughed, the sound harsh and cutting. “It’s rich coming from you, Damon. After all, you’re the one who cast her aside for me. Look how that turned out. You thought you could juggle two live

Damon’s POV I paced the hall and glanced at the big clock every few seconds. I noticed the concern etched on my Beta’s face. “Alpha, you need to think this over properly, you can’t just force Harriet back to the pack.” He sighed and his words echoed in my ears. I stopped and ran a hand through my hair, frustration bubbling just beneath the surface. "You don’t understand, Lucas. Harriet isn’t just another pack member to me. She’s… everything." Lucas crossed his arms, his brow furrowing deeper. "I get that. But you can’t treat her like she’s a possession. She chose to leave for a reason. She looked happy with that Gino guy. We need to respect her decision." “Respect?” I scoffed, throwing my hands up in exasperation. “How am I supposed to respect the decision that ripped my heart out? I chose the pack, for our future, but now it feels like I’ve lost both women. They both deserved better than what I offered.” Lucas took a step closer, his voice lowering. “You need to face th

Harriets’s POV As I nestled deeper into Gino's embrace, I felt a sense of calm wash over me. His heartbeat thudded rhythmically—a steady reminder that I wasn't alone in this moment. It felt surreal, almost magical, as if I had stepped into a new reality where trust and hope could flourish. “You really mean that?” I asked, pulling back just enough to gaze into his eyes. I needed to see the sincerity in them, to solidify this newfound faith we were building between us. “Absolutely,” he replied, his voice firm yet gentle. “I’m not going anywhere. You can take your time, and we can figure this out together.” The sincerity in his expression tempered the last remnants of my anxiety. With each passing moment, I found myself shedding the layers of doubt that had become second nature. I wasn't just a liability or a burden; I was a partner, someone worth loving and experiencing life with. “What if I don’t know how to let go?” I asked, the question slipping from my lips before I cou

Harriet’s POV As I sank onto the bed beside Gino, the tension in the air began to dissolve, replaced by a fragile, yet comforting peace. The evening light filtered through my curtains, casting a soft glow around us. I could feel his presence like a steady heartbeat, grounding me as I grappled with the swirl of thoughts and emotions that had taken residence in my mind. “Do you—” I started, hesitating. “Do you really mean what you said? About not viewing me as just a contract?” His answer came swift and sure, “More than anything. You’re not just a piece of paper to me, Harriet. You’re a person—a wonderful, vibrant person. And I want to know all of you, not just the parts that fit neatly into a box.” There was something in his tone that melted the remaining doubt in my heart. He didn’t see my past as a shadow to be evaded; instead, he seemed to embrace it as part of who I was. It was a radical shift from the way I had been treated before, where my identity had been dictated
