Chapter 4

Raven’s POV

All these feelings can’t be erupting at the same time. It doesn’t make sense that I have two mates, or is it?

My heart was throbbing even as he got closer. I think I just heard him call me mate.

“I’m sorry… I think… this is a mistake.”

His eyes glinted as his lips curved into a smile. “I can’t be mistaken. The vision has haunted me for months.” Holding my arm, he asked, “Don’t you feel it?”

His eyes peering deep into mine caused my whole being to erupt in passion. My eyes dilated, and my desire skyrocketed. It was almost like a savage desire to pull him close.

His fingers ran through my hair, pulling us closer. “You don’t need to speak… I know you feel it too.”

His baritone seemed to be disarming my defences. Could he read my mind too? Those eyes and firm hands were so desirable.

“Come with me, mate.”

“Raven.” My lips muttered, causing him to halt. “What did you say?”

“I said Raven… that’s my name.”

His cold stare didn't waver. Instead, he displayed a wry smile. “How about I call you Luna from now on?”

Luna? Really? He doesn’t even know me. Why does he sound so certain?

His hands held mine firmly as he led me into his sleek black limousine.

The leather seats and golden interior screamed class. I hoped this wasn't a dream.

“So tell me, what are you doing on this lonely path in the woods?”

My heart thumped. I was already enjoying these moments. Did we have to go back to the past?

“I don’t want to talk about it.”

His eyes turned icy. “I insist. My wolf sensed you were in danger, hence the urgency to seek you out so late and follow my sharp instincts. What if something had happened to you?”

“I… am sorry.” I tried to look away from his worried eyes. He should be a stranger, but why did every minute feel like I had known him all my life?

“I was framed and thrown out… of my pack.”

I couldn’t ignore the vein popping in his neck and his tightened jaw.

“Are you alright?”

Paaam!

His hands slammed against the chair, and his eyes burned red. “How dare they? Treat my mate like trash! What if I hadn’t come in time?!”

The fire in his voice sent shivers down my spine.

“Everest, it’s fine.”

His eyes darted in my direction. “I prefer you call me Alpha!” His firm voice gave no room for argument.

He was an Alpha King , not just any Alpha King

but a dominant one.

Two hours later, we arrived at the pack house. It was indeed a mansion with a very large manor. From the first gate, guards stood in their black uniforms with stern faces. Reaching the second gate, there were even more Gamma guards and some Omega maids in the same black outfits.

“Welcome to your new home, mate… Raven!”

He took my hand as we stepped out. The height and width of the mansion overwhelmed me, leaving me with even more questions. Maids and guards lined the entrance, stretching from the door to the lobby.

“This is your new Luna!” His voice thundered like a commander.

They all bowed without even stealing a glance at me. It looked more like a military zone than a house. No smiles, no side talks, just people moving as commanded.

“I’ll show you your room. I’ve prepared it specially for you.”

Fear was slowly creeping through my body. Who was this person, and why were they all so scared?

Two huge bodyguards marched towards us. Their uniforms had red badges on the shoulder epaulettes.

“Greetings, my lord!”

They bowed until he snapped his fingers for them to rise.

“Has he been caught?”

“Yes, sir!” one of them replied. “A troop has been sent to get him and his family to face capital punishment!”

Nodding mechanically, he said, “That’s good… ensure none of them escape.” Turning towards me, he added, “Meet my Luna…”

They forced a smile before bowing. “So glad to have you, my lady!”

“These are my Betas. Axel and Ambrose!”

I’ve never heard of an Alpha king having two Betas, but for now, that’s not my business. I’ve been feeling nauseous, and I want to sleep.

Getting into the room prepared for me, my eyes immediately registered my disgust.

“Why is it so pink?”

Everest stepped back. “I thought ladies loved pink?”

I wasn’t sure what to say next. He had obviously done it with a genuine heart.

“But… it’s so… pink!”

“Belinda!” he thundered.

A petite lady walked up from behind. “My lord.” She bowed, fidgeting.

“Why is it so pink?!”

Looking up, she turned towards him. “My lord, we were just… following your… instructions, sir!”

Taaah!

His slap sent her to the floor. My heart rate doubled. Why did he slap her? Fear engulfed my whole being, especially as I watched the lady struggle to get back on her feet.

“How dare you?!” he roared. “Are you trying to say I was wrong?”

Immediately, she fell to her knees. “No, my lord! I was wrong.”

He stepped forward, but I couldn’t bear to watch him hurt her again.

“I love it!” I blurted out, especially as I saw him still advancing towards her. “It’s perfect, thank you.”

My fears were taking hold of me. Immediately, he snapped his fingers to dismiss everyone else.

“Can I expect you tonight?” he asked with a sinister smile and a flirtatious tone.

“Tonight? What’s happening tonight?”

He winked, making his intentions clear. Was he mad? After all I’d been through tonight? I didn’t even know him.

“Please,” I said, trembling as I took his hands. “This has been so traumatic, and… I’d love to… gather myself.”

“Yeah!” he yelped. “You must be tired… take all the time you need.”

I could hear the discomfort in his voice, but I was definitely going to take all the time I needed.

“I’ll send Vivian to you… she’s going to be your personal maid.”

“I’ll want Belinda,” I found myself saying.

“Really? After the mistake she made with your room?”

“Yes!” It’s the least I can do, especially after what he did to her.

He kissed my forehead before stepping out. I buried myself in the bed. Watching him leave, his height and size made him an intimidating sight to behold.

How did I even get here?

The tears slipped down my cheeks. This had to be a case of jumping from the frying pan into the fire, or even worse.

The door pushed open, revealing Belinda with a large tray of food. Other maids escorted her before leaving.

“My lady… I’m so… sorry about the room.”

“It’s fine.” I reached for her hand. “I’m so sorry I caused you so much pain… I didn’t expect him to hit you.”

She stared blankly, as though an apology wasn’t something she was used to.

“He just corrected me,” she said, trembling.

“There are a million ways to correct someone”

She trembled, hinting that I should hush my voice. “Ma, please, can we stop talking about the Alpha? Ears are everywhere!”

Getting closer, I asked, “Is he always like that?”

“That’s just… the Alpha. He loves us and corrects us… He is the king of the pack, and you are his wife now, making you the Luna.”

A lump rose in my throat as she spoke. I wasn’t sure if it was because of her irritating fear of Everest or just everything that had happened.

The nausea increased by the second, causing me to run into the toilet to throw up.

I could hear Belinda knocking softly. I quickly washed my mouth to ease my lightheadedness.

I could smell everything. Something was wrong.

Immediately, I shut my eyes to connect with my healing stream.

I remembered a few nights ago with River… when my mate Bond betrayed me.

I shouldn't have…

My eyes flew open as a terrifying realisation struck me. What if what happened with River was connected to the bond I was now feeling with Everest?

No… that couldn’t be possible. Could it?
