Chapter 3

Lucian's POV:

Mate? I looked at the wolf again, touching her felt electrical, I felt sparks. But how was this possible? Second chance mates were close to non-existent. I felt max in my mind again, “Max?" I tried again. I wasn't expecting a reply, “learn to put some fate in me kid" I heard him grunt.

My eyes widened, “Max?!" He grunted again, “Can you stop screaming, I'm right in your head, you know." I laughed, “You fucker, where have you been? you were gone for 4 years, max!” I said as my feeling skyrocketed, i felt max sadness and shame, "I'm so sorry Lucien, but I couldn't cope with all that pain" I closed my eyes “So you left me? i was in that pain without you for 4 years" Max whimpered as he hung his head low.

I sighed. “Anyway, I'm glad you're back", At my words, he perked up again, remembering what he said earlier. “So, why did you call this wolf our mate?" Max sounded confused as he said “I don't know kid, but I can feel it, you can too. I think we should take her to the pack house and figure it out". I nodded. I wasn't about to leave her here alone.

I turned to face Tyler and Delta, they've been quiet, obviously not wanting to interrupt but their eyes held questions. Shifting, (ps; they're not naked after shifting.) I turned to face the white wolf, my mate, —it felt foreign to say— I carried her, her wolf form felt so thin, I could feel bones, I wondered what happened to her.

Turning, I start my way to the pack, Tyler and Darius following behind me. The walk to the pack house took longer than it would if i was in my wolf form. After 30 minutes, we got to the pack gate, I went straight to the pack doctor.

Lena, our pack doctor was a woman in her late forties, she was a very nice doctor, entering the clinic, I found a room and dropped my mate on the bed. Then I set out to find Lena, I found her in office, Lena looked surprised to see me, her eyes quickly scanned over my body.

“What brings you here, alpha?" she asks me as she removes her glasses.

"I have something to show you, come with me, please” I say, pleading. She looked confused as I urged her to follow me to the room the omega was in.

As Lena entered the room, she gasped as she took in the white wolf, she was still passed out, yet to shift. “Oh my God, who's this? what happened to her?" She asked looking at me for explanation.

I shrugged, "I don't know, lena. I went on a rogue haunt, they were preying on her”. Pity filled Lena's eyes, " Oh poor thing, i wonder how she ended up there".

Looking at my new mate, “I wonder the same" I said. My heart aching as I felt her pain.

“Anyway, I'll check her and treat her". I nodded, crossing my arms without moving an inch. Lena looked at me expectantly, “You have a wait outside, alpha" She said, very pointedly, looking at me through her glasses.

" Oh,okay,sure, I mean you'll need space” I say clearing my throat awkwardly. I didn't want to leave my mate, I felt drawn to her. "Oh kid, you're already getting whipped” Max teased. Laughing, I flip him off in my head, "Like you won't be worse when you officially meet the beautiful white wolf,” He scoffs, " Ofc, I'll be obsessed with my mate” He says before turning his tail to me. I laugh softly, it was nice having him back, I didn't feel so alone anymore.

Going to the lobby, I waited for lena, I sat, standing again after 5 minutes, I started pacing; I was feeling very restless. After forever, Lena finally came out of the room, looking distressed and sad.

Speed walking towards her, “What happened?" “Will she be fine?"

Lena sighed, “It's very bad, Alpha”. I was getting impatient, "Lena, talk to me”.

"Well, first of all, she can't shift until her wolf deems it fit that there is safety, they're both in so much pain, there are cuts all over her body, bruises on her ribs, her rib bone was broken and-” she hesitated, "And what, Lena?” I gritted out. She cleared her throat, continuing, " And there are signs of being forcefully used”.

My brain hung, "What? Like she was-” I couldn't bare to finish the words, Lena nodded, understanding, "Many times even” she says.

Fisting my hands so tightly, "I'll find who ever did this and they'll have a slow death” I promised.

"Alpha, can I ask a question" Lena starts, I nodded my head, “I mean I know what happened to her was bad, but why do you care so much about her?" she asks.

“She's my second chance mate", I say.

Lena gasped, “That's close to impossible, I'm happy for you alpha, really, you deserve it".

“Yeah, thank you, Lena".

Max was feeling restless, he needed to see our mate, I needed it too, deciding to stay in the room till she wakes up, i went to her ward room.

Getting there I saw that she had shifted back. I was in awe. She looked so ethereal. Her long Brunnet hair cascaded down and splayed over the bed. Her lashes caressed her beautiful face. She was beautiful. She was wearing a tattered black dress, the dress had no arm, I could see bruises on her arms.My heart ached as I looked away. I found a chair and took a seat. I hadn't slept in hours, I decided to take a rest.

Olivia's POV:

“Olivia" I heard in my head, I didn't answer. “Olivia, wake up", The voice said again, I realized the voice was Liana, my wolf. “What's wrong, liana?" I asked, confused, “You need to open your eyes, we need to know where we are, we've been out of it for so long" Hearing that, I gasped and immediately opened my eyes.

I looked around, I heard a beeping machine, there was a drip on my hand, my nose felt uncomfortable, it felt like there was an oxygen there, I figured I was in a hospital, “How did I get here?" i thought. I looked to my side, there was a man there, he was sitting on a chair beside my bed, his hands were folded on his chest, his head hanging on the chair, i wondered why and how he was there.

It was as he felt me looking at him, he opened his eyes, immediately he looked into my eyes, I felt something, I was confused, I could feel goosebumps on my skin, liana wasn't saying anything, she was quiet.

"Liana?” I tried. Liana's breath quickened. Olivia, it's weird, something weird is going on" she said, sounding close to fainting. “What's wrong?" I ask, worriedly. “This man, he's-"

“I see you're awake" The man says clearing his throat awkwardly, Liana gasped again. “He's mate!" My wolf shouted. Her voice sounded disoriented, I was confused.

“How are you feeling, mate?" He asks.

Mate? The machine beside me starting beeping loudly, my chest felt heavy, I started fighting to remove the drip, I needed to run, my head was so light.

“Hey,hey, calm down" The man said, trying to touch me. I started hyperventilating, I couldn't breathe, “Breathe Olivia, you're panicking” Olivia said, breathing heavily.

I couldn't breathe! I clutched my chest as the man started clicking the intercom desperately. He looked so scared.

The last I saw was a woman in white robe opening the door before I passed out.
