Ember Celeste Frost's pov

I wandered a short distance away and found a patch of grass to settle on. Around me, laughter rose, friends teasing one another, voices trading silly jokes that meant nothing yet filled the air with warmth. It was such an ordinary moment, so simple, yet as I sat there surrounded by their joy, I felt an ache swell in my chest. My eyes stung, and I had to blink hard to keep the tears from falling.

I felt a surprising lightness. The constant gnawing inside no longer had to plague me every day. I wouldn’t drag anyone down now. Lying so close to the palace, I felt a strangely liberating freedom. I wished my parents and Klaus could see me — the thought of their sorrow if they found me gone knotted my stomach. I’d been reckless; I should have left a note to spare them the worry.

More than anything, I wanted to finish training and return stronger — to stand before my family, my pack, even Owen, with a different fire in me. Looking back, I see it wasn’t his rejection

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   Flirting with Trouble

Ember Frost's POVOver dinner, my father announced that visitors would be arriving soon. I inclined my head in acknowledgment, though inwardly, I paid it no mind. After all, during these weeks, I’d already been paraded before more strangers than I cared to count. However, I nearly choked on my food when Orion walked in, followed by a tall, unfamiliar man. If not for the glass of water I snatched up just in time, history would’ve remembered me as the first princess who died of shock at the dinner table.Their resemblance was undeniable — the same eyes, the same sharp jawline, though the elder carried himself with a refined composure that made him seem carved from another world. But the silence that fell over the table unsettled me. No greetings, no warmth, only a heavy stillness that pressed down on the room. Even Orion, ever the reckless tease, remained rigid and somber at his father’s side. The silence was so unnerving that I lost my appetite completely and set my food aside. For onc

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown    The Playboy Exception

Ember Frost's POV “How do you feel?” my father asked, expressionless, the question sounding more like an assessment than a father’s care.I forced myself to drop the playful tone I often slipped into and answered with careful composure, “Not bad.”“Your Majesty, she performed admirably. With time, she will grow into a formidable warrior,” Orion said, his expression calm, almost too serious. The exchange left me feeling strangely out of place, though thankfully neither of them seemed bothered.“That’s good to hear! She will continue tomorrow. Thank you for sparing us a little time out of your busy schedule,” my mother said to him gently.“It’s nothing, Your Majesty. It’s my honour to be her instructor,” he said with a formal bow of his head.My father gave him a nod before we turned to leave. Curiosity tugged at me, so I glanced back, just in time to see him looking too, pulling faces at me.“I knew it! He couldn’t possibly keep that mask on for too long.“Ember, what are you doing?”

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   The Muscular Playboy

Ember Frost's POVBy the time I completed my second lap around the training ground, my breath came in ragged gasps. My legs felt like lead, my stomach twisted into painful knots, and I bent over, clutching my knees, convinced I might collapse then and there.I hated to admit it, but Orion was an exceptional trainer. He seemed to know exactly where my limits lay and had no qualms about pushing me to the edge, as if my survival didn’t matter. Each moment of training felt like a battle with death itself, yet even when my body screamed for mercy, I forced myself to rise again.“This won’t do. You’re too weak.” He studied me with a critical gaze. I had no rebuttal; he was right.Yes, I was out of shape, painfully so. Back when I trained with my peers, they always went easy on me, carefully limiting my exercises. If something seemed too complicated, I was made to sit out and watch from the sidelines while they endured the gruelling routines. My body had grown soft from years of pampering; m

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   The First Step Forward

Ember Frost’s POVI found myself staring at my mother's face, following every familiar line as if it were a mirror reflecting my future. The similarity between us was unmistakable, a gentle reminder of the importance of family ties. One day, I'd mature into her looks, with the same form of eyes and lips. But what I doubted I could ever inherit was the grace—the softness, the elegance—that seemed to radiate effortlessly from her.My mother settled beside me on the bed, and we drifted into easy conversation. It had become her quiet ritual ever since the day I was brought back to her. I understood she was trying to heal the years we’d missed, filling the gaps with warmth and presence. The effort touched me deeply, and I savored the comfort of finally being treasured.“Sweetheart, your body is already telling you what you need,” she said warmly, catching me mid-yawn again. “Rest now. Tomorrow is waiting, and you’ll want all your strength when it comes.”Perhaps, sleep was the only escape

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Crown   First Impressions

Ember Celeste Frost’s povFor a long moment, he said nothing. No, yes, no, no, just that calm, unreadable expression that left me guessing. My father stayed silent, his gaze fixed on him. I wasn’t sure what was happening, so my eyes flicked back and forth between the two of them.Sir Orion seemed like a completely different man now. The playful, charming boy who had tried to tease me moments ago was gone. His lips were set in a firm line, and he met my father’s gaze without an ounce of hesitation. At last, I saw the courage and strength that marked him as a true warrior. My father’s expression had shifted, and now he seemed intimidating. His eyes radiated dignity, seriousness, and something else I couldn’t quite name. Usually kind and playful with me, at this moment, I couldn’t bring myself to meet his gaze. I didn’t have the courage.I held my breath, certain the standoff would last forever, until Orion moved aside.“I am deeply honoured, Your Majesty.”His smile was perfect, yet som
