The mansion was already lit when they returned.

Soft yellow light spilled from the upper windows onto the dark driveway. The air smelled of rain that hadn’t fallen yet. Aria stepped out of the car and followed Silas through the side entrance without speaking.

Her body still carried the quiet tension of the afternoon.
Watching Torren walk around free had left a cold, precise anger sitting under her ribs. Not the wild kind. The useful kind.

Silas led her straight to the study.

He knocked once.

“Enter.”

Dominic Vale was standing by the window with a glass of something dark in his hand. He didn’t turn around immediately.

“Report,” he said.

Aria stepped forward. Silas remained by the door.

“We located Torren,” she said.
“He left a restaurant on the east side at approximately 1:40.
He made one stop at an apartment building, met two other wolves at a corner store, then left in a black SUV.
He wasn’t alone.
He didn’t notice us.”

Dominic turned slowly.

His eyes moved over her face, searching for something.

“And?” he asked.

“That’s all we observed.”

Dominic walked to his desk and set the glass down.

“How did it feel,” he said, “watching him?”

Aria held his gaze.

“Like looking at something that should already be dead.”

A faint flicker of interest passed through Dominic’s expression.

“Good,” he said. “That means the memory is still sharp.
Sharp memories make clean decisions.”

He opened a drawer, took out a thin black file, and placed it on the desk between them.

“This is everything we currently have on Torren.
Routes. Contacts. Weak points.
You will study it.
You will not act on it.”

Aria’s fingers curled slightly at her side.

“For how long?”

Dominic’s voice stayed calm.

“Until I say otherwise.
You are still learning how to move inside this family.
If you rush the first debt, you risk exposing the rest.”

He leaned forward slightly.

“I did not bring you here so you could die again for the sake of anger.
I brought you here so you could become someone who collects debts properly.”

The words settled heavily in the room.

Aria gave a short nod.

“I understand.”

Dominic studied her for another moment, then glanced at Silas.

“Increase her combat training.
Add night drills starting tomorrow.
I want her body catching up to her intentions.”

Silas gave a single nod.

Dominic looked back at Aria.

“You’re dismissed.
Study the file.
Sleep.
Tomorrow will be harder than today.”

Aria picked up the black file, turned, and walked out of the study.

The hallway felt longer than usual.

She went straight to her room, locked the door, and placed the file on the desk. For a moment she just stood there, staring at it.

Then she opened it.

Photographs.
Addresses.
Known associates.
A short note about a girlfriend who lived three districts away.
A preferred bar.
A pattern of leaving the pack house every Thursday night.

Aria sat down and began reading properly.

Outside, the wind pushed against the windows.

Somewhere in the city, Torren was probably still breathing without a single worry.

Aria turned another page.

Her bloodline stirred again — low and steady, like something waking up for the second time.

She rested her hand flat on the open file.

Not yet.

But soon.

A soft knock on the door broke the silence.

Aria closed the file and stood.

“Yes?”

The door opened. One of the household staff stood there, looking slightly nervous.

“Miss Vale… Mr. Vale asked me to inform you that you have a visitor waiting in the small sitting room downstairs.”

Aria frowned.

“A visitor?”

“Yes. He said the name is… Kael Nightshade.”

The name hit the air like a blade.

Aria’s entire body went still.

For a second the room tilted.

Kael.

Here.

In this house.

The staff member shifted uncomfortably.

“Should I tell them you’re unavailable?”

Aria’s voice came out quieter than she expected.

“No.”

She looked down at the black file on the desk, then at the silver knife resting near the lamp.

“Tell them I’ll be down in five minutes.”

The staff member nodded and quickly left.

Aria stood alone in the center of the room.

Her heartbeat was steady.
Too steady.

Three years early.
Different life.
Different name.

And somehow Kael Nightshade had already found his way to her door.

Aria picked up the silver knife, turned it once in her hand, then slid it back into its place against her ankle.

She smoothed her expression until nothing showed on her face.

Then she walked out of the room and toward the stairs.

Whatever reason had brought him here…

she would not let him see the girl he had once rejected.

That girl was already dead.

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Don   012 | The First Meeting

Aria stopped at the bottom of the stairs. The small sitting room was only a few steps away. Soft light spilled out from the half-open door. She could already hear the low sound of male voices inside — one of them familiar in a way that made her stomach tighten. She took one slow breath. Then she walked in. Kael Nightshade stood near the window with his back partially turned. He was taller than she remembered from this age, already carrying the quiet authority of a future Alpha. Dark shirt. Controlled posture. The same sharp profile that had once looked at her like she was something disposable. When he turned around, their eyes met. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Aria felt the old mate bond stir weakly in her chest — a faint, unwanted echo — and crushed it down before it could rise any higher. Kael’s gaze moved over her face, then her clothes, then the way she stood. There was a flicker of something in his eyes. Confusion. Recognition that didn’t fully form. “You’re Aria

The car stopped two streets away from the target.Silas cut the engine. The sudden silence felt heavier than the noise of the road. He didn’t look at her when he spoke.“You stay in the car until I say otherwise.
You watch.
You don’t approach.
You don’t speak.
You don’t do anything that makes us visible.”Aria gave a short nod.She already knew the rules.
She had learned them the hard way in her first life — by breaking them.Silas handed her a small pair of black binoculars and a dark cap.

Morning came too fast. Aria was already in the underground training room by 4:55.
Silas arrived two minutes later and said nothing. He simply pointed at the mat. Today there was no warm-up. He came at her harder than the day before. Faster.
Heavier.
Less patient. Aria blocked the first strike, but the force still drove her back three steps.
Her boots scraped against the mat. “You’re still too light,” Silas said.
“Again.” She came forward. They moved across the mat in sharp, ugly exchanges.
Silas didn’t give her room to think.
Every time she tried to create distance, he closed it.
Every time she tried to attack, he punished the opening. Sweat ran into her eyes.
Her arms burned.
Her lungs felt tight. But the heat in her chest was stronger today. It rose slower than yesterday, yet deeper.
Like something old was finally stretching after a long sleep. When Silas aimed a controlled strike at her ribs, Aria twisted and caught his wrist. For a fraction of a second, her grip was

The mansion felt colder when they returned. Aria stepped out of the car and walked inside without waiting for Silas.
Her footsteps echoed softly against the polished floor.
No one stopped her. She went straight to her room, locked the door, and only then let out a slow breath. The folded paper sat heavy in her pocket. Aria pulled it out and unfolded it again under the soft light of the desk lamp. Names. Some written in clean black ink.
Some she had already burned into her memory the night she died. She sat down at the desk and spread the paper flat. Her eyes moved down the list slowly. The ones who had watched.
The ones who had smiled.
The ones who had held the silver. Her fingers hovered over the last three names. She could still remember the weight of their bodies pinning her down.
The burn of the blade.
The quiet, almost bored tone of the one who whispered in her ear. The Alpha doesn’t keep broken things. Aria’s jaw tightened. She opened the drawer, found a pen, and b

  • Rejected by the Alpha, Claimed by the Don   007 | Something That Used to Belong to You

The car was black, quiet, and cold. Aria sat in the back seat with her hands folded in her lap.
Silas drove.
He hadn’t said a single word since they left the mansion. The city slid past the tinted windows in shades of gray and steel.
Familiar streets.
Familiar buildings.
A life she had already lived once and lost. She kept her breathing steady. Something that used to belong to you. Dominic’s words kept circling in her head. The car eventually left the main roads and turned onto a narrower path lined with trees.
Aria’s fingers tightened slightly. She knew this route. Even after three years and one death, her body still remembered. When the car finally stopped, Silas cut the engine and stepped out.
He opened her door without looking at her. “Get out.” Aria stepped onto the dirt. The air here smelled like river water and damp earth.
Exactly the same. They were at the old riverbank. The place where she had died. Silas walked ahead a few steps, then stopped an
