“Mate.”

The words slam into me like a punch to my gut, knocking the air out of me. My face drains of color instantly, my eyes widen.

“What?”

The guards stiffen. One of them visibly flinches.

I don’t react at first. I can’t. My heart is hammering so violently it drowns out every other sound.

No, no, no, no. Not again.

I grip the chains tighter, my breathing shallow. I don’t want this. I don’t want to be tied to another man, another Alpha, another monster who will only break me.

But the bond snaps into place, a warmth I don’t want. A pull I refuse to acknowledge. My wolf, weak and dormant, stirs sluggishly, recognizing him instantly.

The Lycan King doesn’t move. He just watches me, his eyes calm and void of emotion. Then he speaks again.

“Unlock the cage.”

The guards hesitate. “Sire, she’s a rogue—”

His gaze flicks to them, and the air grows unbearably hot. “I gave you an order.”

It isn’t loud. It isn’t shouted. But the weight of his voice makes the men scramble to obey. The keys jangle, the lock clicks, and the iron door swings open. The men grab my arm and pull me out.

I don’t move.

My legs won’t hold me up no matter how hard I try. The moment the guards step back, my vision wavers. I’m exhausted. Hungry. My body has reached its limit.

The world tilts…and then I’m falling.

Strong arms catch me before I hit the ground. A firm chest presses against my side, radiating warmth.

I want to push him away, but my body betrays me. His scent floods my senses—smoky cedar. I can barely breathe before darkness swallows me whole.

I wake to warmth.

Softness beneath me. A thick blanket draped over my body. My fingers sink into silky sheets, and the air carries the faint scent of smoky cedar. I bolt right up.

The room around me is enormous. Dark stone walls, a high ceiling with wooden beams, and a fireplace burning low in the corner. The bed beneath me is massive, filled with rich, silky linens and furs.

Everything immediately crashes into my head. The cage, the guards, the pain I felt, and him.

I don’t belong here. My chest tightens, panic creeping in.

The door creaks open, and I jerk my head up. There he is.

The Lycan King.

He steps into the room effortlessly, his gaze already fixed on me. He doesn’t look surprised to find me awake. If anything, he looks amused.

“Stay away.” I scramble back against the headboard.

He stops a few steps away, arching a brow. “I haven’t even touched you.” His voice is deep and smooth.

I tighten my grip on the blanket. “Just—just get it over with.”

He pauses, tilting his head sideways. “Get what over with?” He asks.

What is this? A joke? What does he mean? Is he testing me? These thoughts plague my mind.

I glare at him, ignoring the tremor in my voice. “The rejection. Just do it.”

He stares at me, the smile he wore on his face suddenly dropped, replaced by a frown I didn’t like. He steps forward, and I scramble back even more.

He stops, his gaze heavy on me. “You think I intend to hurt you? That I will reject you?” He asks, clearly stating the obvious.

I swallow hard, my throat dry as I force myself to meet his gaze. I tighten my fingers around the blanket as if it can shield me from him. “Why wouldn’t you?”

He studies me for a long moment. “Why would I?”

My heart pounds. “Because I’m nothing. A rogue. An omega. A burden.” The words spill out, bitter and raw. “You’re a king. You don’t need someone like me…”

“You presume to know what I need?” His voice is calm, but there’s an edge to it now.

I snap my mouth shut.

I don’t understand this man. I don’t understand why he hasn’t already cast me aside, why he isn’t laughing in my face like Aiden did.

The thought of him, of that night, that betrayal. It makes my stomach churn.

I square my shoulders, forcing steel into my spine. “Fine. If you won’t reject me, I reject you.”

Silence.

A flicker of something dark passes through his expression before it’s gone, buried beneath that cold mask he already wore.

Then he moves.

I don’t even have time to react before he’s in front of me, one knee pressing onto the bed, hands braced on either side of me. He isn’t touching me, but his presence alone feels like a trap.

His scent surrounds me, smoky cedar, something rich and wild. It makes my wolf delirious. My breath catches.

He leans in, his lips a breath away from my ear. “Try again, little wolf.”

My pulse skyrockets. I shove at his chest, desperate to put distance between us, but he doesn’t budge. He doesn’t even flinch.

His lips curve, as if amused by my struggle.

“Reject me all you want, not that it will ever make a difference,” he murmurs. “The moon goddess brought you here for me, and now you’re mine.”

  • Alpha Kieran’s Rogue mate   Chapter 14

Kieran~I watched her walk away. Head high, shoulders stiff, legs quicker than ever.Even now after I’d humiliated her in front of everyone, she refused to back down and let it go. What was her obsession with learning to fight? What did she need it for? I’m there. I’ll protect her.Damn stubborn woman. The moment she was gone, I felt the air shift. A silence I hadn’t asked for settled around. “Back to training,” I snapped, my voice sharp. All of them had stopped training to watch. “Get to work! No slacking, no laziness. Train like your life depends on it.”Immediately the sounds of grunts and groans filled the space again. I sighed, feeling an headache coming. I felt her presence before she even spoke. Lena stopped next to me, arms wrapped against her chest. “That was too much.” I didn’t glance at her. Just kept my gaze fixed on the field as the warriors resumed their drills.“She needed to understand,” I said tightly.“There are better ways to teach someone than tossing them to th

  • Alpha Kieran’s Rogue mate   Chapter 13

The next morning, I was out of bed as soon as the birds chirped. I wore a white shirt Kieran had given me last night and paired it with a black leggings Lena had dropped in the room after dinner. I tied my hair into a tight ponytail, looked at my self through the mirror and exhaled deeply. It’s okay! You’re fine, Emma. You can do it. I muttered to myself.I slipped out of the room as quietly as I could, last night during dinner, I’d caught on some of the conversations which lead to my firm decision of learning to fight. And so, I knew they would be out in the training failed as early as six am. Now, if only I could locate where the training fields were…I wandered past the hallway, the scent of pine drifting in through the open windows. A few wolves passed me by, giving nods or curious glances. No one really cared about the supposed ‘stray’ like that woman Savannah had said. The pack house was already bustling with energy even with how early it was. The maids were already working an

The dining hall was full by the time I walked in, and suddenly, it felt like every eye turned to me.They all looked at me like I was some alien who just landed in their home which in a way I kind of was. I swallowed tightly, looking away from the pack members and instead to the man whose gaze called out to me.Our eyes locked and i instantly looked away, letting myself be dragged towards the empty chair. Lena pulled me down to sit next to her while by her side was the man I’d call the beta. Judging by the warm sweet smile he passed to Lena. The pack members by now had recovered? No one was staring at me anymore and their conversations flowed smoothly like my presence wasn’t a bother.“Don’t want eggs or bacon? Or maybe you can have both.” Lena said as she called on a maid who began to serve the food.“Anything,” I murmured quietly. But I couldn’t focus on food.Because that sensation, that pricking awareness on the back of my neck was still there. His stare.I didn’t dare look again

  • Alpha Kieran’s Rogue mate   Chapter 11

“I know you’re Alpha Kieran’s mate.”I stopped breathing for a second, snapping my head to look at her. My stomach turned inexplicably. The look on my face must’ve been gravely scared because Lena’s smile wavered awkwardly,“Wow.” She breathed, rubbing the nape of her neck awkwardly. “He really wasn’t lying or downplaying it. You really don’t want to be anyone’s mate, do you?”I swallowed hard, looking away. “You do not know what you’re talking about.” I replied stiffly.“Don’t I?” Lena asked, brows quirked. “Usually, I would hear of the Alpha rejecting his mate but this is different.” She leaned closer to me, eyes squinted. “You do realize Kieran’s the King. Anyone would literally die to be in your position right now.”I shook my head. Of course I knew Anyone would die to be on my position. Anyone except me. “You’re wrong. Mates aren’t always a blessing. Sometimes they’re… not good. Sometimes they ruin everything.” I snapped, unable to help myself. Not when Aidan’s mocking eyes flash

  • Alpha Kieran’s Rogue mate   Chapter 10

The packhouse is quiet.Too quiet. For the past two days, I’ve heard constant movement…footsteps in the halls, voices, and grunting of those training. But now, stepping out of my room for the first time, everywhere was silent, almost as if no one was in the pack house.Did something happen?I hesitate in the doorway, half-expecting someone to stop me. But no one does. I look around, hesitant, but still, no one stops me, so I take a step forward, then another, forcing myself to breathe. It’s fine. I’m just getting water. The kitchen isn’t hard to find. It’s big, like everything else in this place, and completely empty. A large silver sink, dark granite countertops, the shelves were stacked with food I don’t dare touch. I don’t belong here.Still, my throat is dry. Ignoring the voice in my head that tells me to leave and not touch anything, I grab a glass and fill it quickly from the sink. Just a sip. Just enough to ease the dryness in my throat. But as I turn to leave, I slam into some

  • Alpha Kieran’s Rogue mate   Chapter 9

Chapter 9“Have the Silvermoon pack report to me on why their Alpha has suddenly disappeared from the pack…and why no one thought it important enough for me to know.”“Understood, Alpha,” Tobias nods.He starts to speak again, something about the crisis in the northern region, but I barely hear him. My thoughts are elsewhere, consumed by her. After her collapse in the woods, she has withdrawn into herself again. Silent. Distant. Not like she wasn't ever distant.A familiar frustration coils in my chest. She's in my home now, under my protection, yet she still feels like a ghost, slipping through my fingers.“Kieran.”Tobias's voice jolts me from my thoughts.I blink at him. He's frowning.“What's going on?” he asks. “I've been talking about the northern region for the past five minutes, but you haven't heard a word. Is something wrong?”I exhale, leaning back against my desk, arms crossed.“She has marks.”Tobias tilts his head. “Marks?” he repeats.I nod. “On her arms...” the memory
