Rex’s POV

The unease in my mind was quickly replaced with something else—something feral. A determination I didn’t know I had burned inside me, demanding that I protect what was mine.

Since the moment we stepped outside, I could feel it in the air—shock, anxiety, and those silent doubts. The moment Aries said her name, realization struck me like lightning. The mate who was supposed to be dead. And then I felt it… his guilt. A guilt that wasn’t mine to bear, yet it still gnawed at me.

I couldn’t blame him. Who would know the right way to react to something like this? It’s not every day that someone you buried comes back from the dead.

But I looked at her—really looked—and what I saw unnerved me.

She was unreadable. Her emotions guarded, even from my newly sharpened senses. That was the first red flag. There was something about her—something in the air around her that made my skin crawl. Like the eerie silence of a graveyard. Yet no one else seemed to notice. Only me.

  • Rejected mythical Luna   My people

Leaving Lucy’s building with all these plans set, even if they were small gave my heart a little peace. Not much, but enough. I walked beside Julian toward the training centre, the late afternoon sun casting long shadows as we moved in silence for a bit. I figured I’d take the chance to catch up with him, but of course, he beat me to it. “Little Rex,” he started, his tone soft but pointed. “Are you okay? Like genuinely okay. Not that fake 'I’m fine' crap about being cool with her staying here after everything with Aries.” I didn’t even try to fake a smile. “I’m not sure,” I admitted, my voice quieter than I expected. “I don’t doubt what Aries and I have. That’s not the issue. But I don’t know what her purpose here is and that unsettles me, Julian.” “I knew it,” he groaned. “You’ve got to stop pretending to be strong all the time. It’s not healthy to carry that weight on your chest constantly.” “I just... I’ll be fine if I can find out what the hell she is, and why she’s really her

  • Rejected mythical Luna   Getting to work

The bond between us thrived as we finally became one. I could feel all of him, and I was certain he felt the same. As I lay in bed, the morning sun slipped through the curtains, casting a soft, ethereal glow across his face. My mate. My Alpha. “I can feel you staring,” came his husky voice. He turned toward me, a lazy smile finding its way to his lips. “I was just admiring the work of art you’ve become lately,” I said, matching his smile. “Only recently?” he teased, sitting up and instantly wrapping himself around me, his head resting against my chest. “I’ve always been a work of art. You just hadn’t seen all of me. Now that you have… what do you think?” “It was perfect,” I said, meaning every word. “It was perfect for me too.” He kissed my forehead, lingering just a little longer than usual. “But I think it’s time we get out of bed. I’ve got some investigating to do now that my head’s clear.” “Selene,” I said, swinging my legs over the edge. “Yeah.” He stood and began pullin

  • Rejected mythical Luna   Doubts

Aries’ POV I couldn't breathe. It felt like the world around me had come to a standstill. Sound drained from my ears, and all I could see was her—Selene. The woman I once called mine. The woman who was supposed to be dead. She looked different—older, a little worn—but undeniably her. Her scent had changed, dulled, like time had buried it. And the bond we once shared, the one that snapped three years ago like a cord yanked too tight, didn’t stir. Nothing in me responded to her the way it once had. “Selene…” I whispered again, needing to hear the name out loud. I stepped away from Rex unconsciously, not out of choice, but sheer disbelief. This couldn’t be real. Selene smiled, that same haunting smile that once brought me peace. “I see you still remember my name, Alpha.” Julian’s voice broke the silence behind me. “You’re supposed to be dead.” Selene turned to him, cool and unshaken. “So I’ve heard, Beta. So I’ve heard.” Through the bond, I felt Rex’s shock and confusion—but even

  • Rejected mythical Luna   Mysterious figure

Aries POV Leaving Rex to train alone left me feeling unsettled. It gnawed at me, the idea of her out there harnessing forces beyond comprehension—alone. But I couldn't hover. Not when I had a duty to protect her from threats even she didn’t yet know existed. That’s why I was heading to my office. There had been whispers. Rumors. Shadowy figures trading secrets for coin. And I couldn’t sit idly while Rex carried the burden alone. If she was going to protect us, then I’d damn well do the same for her. Lilly was already waiting outside my door. “Alpha,” she greeted with a curt nod, and we stepped in together. “Sorry to keep you waiting,” I said as I took my seat. “It’s fine, Alpha,” one of the informants said. They were two men—veterans of the underground. No names, no loyalties. They sold information to the highest bidder. Right now, I didn’t care about the cost. I needed answers. “What did you find?” I asked, wasting no time. Before either of them could speak, my father walked

  • Rejected mythical Luna   The elements

“Did you see that?” Julian asked, voice sharp but clear. I caught Maron’s slow nod, awe creeping across her face. “She’s already syncing with her environment,” she murmured. But I wasn’t paying attention to their words—I was focused on the energy humming beneath my skin. It felt alive, like it recognized me. I flipped to the next page of Lyra’s journal, heart pounding. Air is the lightest of all elements, yet the hardest to master. It listens, not to control, but to harmony. Focus on a single object, and it will rise. I scanned the area and spotted a small stone nearby. It was light—perfect. I extended my hand, breath uneven. Rise, I whispered—not aloud, but inside myself. The stone trembled, shuddered, then lifted a few inches before falling back down with a soft thud. A breath escaped me. “I did it,” I said, louder this time. “You did,” Robin replied from where he leaned against a tree. “But you’re straining too much. Don’t force it—feel it. Draw it in like a part of you. T
