It was a week later and I hadn’t gone back to school yet. Letters of condolences had come from everywhere. As the head Alpha of the World Council, Kiran had known a lot of people, and many of them were saddened by his loss.

I hadn’t opened any of them and Levi had just shrugged when he arrived at the house and found me burning all the cards and letters in the fireplace. He had called to say that everyone would be at the house tonight as per William’s request.

I had declined Levi’s offer to stay with him and Charlotte. I couldn’t leave the house yet. Their scents were still there, Kiran’s scent was strongest in his study and I spent most of my time in there, sleeping on the couch as I struggled with my emotions.

I hadn’t gone into their room again, I had just closed the door after their ceremony. Kai came up to me later and gave me a silver chain with Kiran’s wedding ring hanging from it. “He’d want you to have it, think of this as your amulet, something that was his that you can draw power from.” It meant more to me than Kai could possibly know.

When everyone was present, William went to Kiran’s study and emerged with a large folder in his hands. He sat down at the dining room table and wiped a hand over his face. Kai had poured drinks for all of us and I wondered what was in that folder.

“This is the last will and testament of Kiran Montgomery Sinclair,” William said as he opened the folder and none of us said anything. Kiran had always been meticulous about his will and it made me smile.

“He wanted the house to stay in the family, so he’s not giving it to anybody, rather he wanted it to remain as is and to be used by everyone when the family visits Seward. He created a trust so that the house can’t be sold or demolished,” he continued.

“We wouldn’t have done that any way,” Kai said.

“Ownership of the hotel will go to Elijah on his twenty-sixth birthday. Kiran felt that the hotel has always been in the hands of the Alpha of Seward and should remain as such,” he said.

I wasn’t really surprised. As a child I had always thought I’d take over from Kiran, but so many things had changed and Elijah had worked there since he was sixteen and it was only right that he got it. I didn’t think I could sit in an office all day and run the hotel.

“Kiran left his Karambit to Levi,” William said with a smile. Levi laughed and nodded his head.

“What an asshole, leaving me the Karambit I gave him,” he said as we all laughed.

“His personal journals will go to Kai,” William continues as Kai smiled.

“All his dirty secrets are now mine,” Kai said as I shook my head at him.

“Kiran’s motorcycle collection will go to Alex, because a man can never have enough bikes,” he said and Alex chuckled softly.

“Adara’s jewelry is to be divided equally to the women of the family, but her wedding ring is to go to Adira,” he said and winked at her as she wiped a tear away.

“The rest of Adara’s belongings will go to Saga, her only daughter,” he said and squeezed Saga’s hand as she started crying again.

“His book of death magic will be delivered to Jericho. He said you would know what to do with it, as well as his gun collection,” he said.

“He kept it?” Kai whispered more to himself than to anybody.

“He wanted me to destroy it, so it could never be replicated or be used by another witch,” Jericho said. “The book’s magic is very strong, he tried to destroy it a few times.”

“Kiran was proud of each and every one of you, he loved you all. The contents of his safety deposit box in Seattle is to be divided equally between his great-grandchildren, River and Skai,” he said.

“Then lastly, Kiran owned a large property in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. This, along with the contents of his bank accounts and Karani’s chest, will go to Christian,” he said and I looked up.

William stood up and handed me a smaller envelope, the deed to the house and the keys. I hadn’t expected this. I had a trust fund, I wasn’t worried about money and Kiran had given me so much throughout my life that I almost couldn’t breathe at this extravagance.

“I don’t know what to say,” I said as I looked at the house keys in my hand.

“You were his first son, Christian, and then you were also his last. He was immensely proud of you and this is his way of telling you to get the hell out of Seward and go forge your own path in Wolfeboro, start afresh. He gave you his Alpha aura, his blood and his magic for a reason. Kiran sometimes did things none of us understood, but in the end he always had a reason for it,” Kai said.

“A great adventure awaits you,” Jericho said and smiled at me, his eyes glinting mischievously.

“A toast! To Kiran and Adara!” Alex said as he emptied his glass of scotch.

We spent the rest of that night drinking to their memories and telling stories about them. We laughed and cried and we laughed some more. At 3 AM we all stripped our clothes off and ran to the top of the mountain.

I stood looking at the town below me and a howl erupted from my throat, closely followed by the rest of the family. My wolf was a silvery color now, almost matching the snow and I was bigger. I could feel it rushing through me as the Alpha in me took over.

I was still smaller than Kai and Jericho, but not by much. I felt oddly strange standing there and I stayed as the rest of them started making their way back to the house. I would need to pack up my room after graduation and move to Fairbanks, but I already knew that no matter what I did, I’d end up in Wolfeboro, where Kiran wanted me.

Lyric was released two days later but I sent Caleb to pick her up and I avoided her during that time, making sure that we didn’t cross paths. I had other things on my mind and I chose not to think about her. I still didn’t trust myself around her. Gray still wanted to kill her.On Friday, Conroy and I ported to New York where the Council had their headquarters. Dinah was there with Rohan and three Council members, Ralph Goodwin, Mario Lopez and Charl Matthews. We were seated at a rectangular table and we’d all been introduced. Another man sat at the table but we hadn’t been introduced and I knew that he was a truth seeker.I didn’t know these men but they would know exactly who my family was. Gray was pissed off. He didn’t like Rohan any more than I did and this tribunal was just him being a sore loser. It was ridiculous actually, taking Conroy to the Council because of rejection.“This is the tribunal between the Sinclair and Carter packs of New Hampshire,” Ralph began. “The claim is

We all stood in the foyer, looking at each other. Caleb looked like he’d seen a ghost. His face was pale and confusion was etched onto his features. Alexis was emotional and unsure of what her next steps would be. It didn’t seem like she had anywhere else to go, so I stepped in.“Let her stay the night. Tomorrow we can all sit and talk about what to do,” I said to him.“Fine, but I’m doing a paternity test,” he said.“Fine,” she said as Caleb took her suitcase and she followed him to the spare room upstairs.Caleb wasn’t gone for long and I knew he hadn’t said anything else to her, other than to show her upstairs. He looked pissed off but I also knew that he would do the right thing by that child. I wasn’t sure if he’d ever forgive Alexis for what had happened, but he would be in his child’s life.“If someone takes me to the Council, I’m kicking your ass,” Caleb said as he came back downstairs and walked into the kitchen.“What did I do?” I asked him.“Everything that happens to you i

It took two days for the summons to arrive in my inbox from the American Council. Levi was with me in my office since Kai had called him and told him the whole story. We were busy discussing everything that had happened when I opened the summons.“Great, a summons to appear in front of the US Council,” I said.“Rohan doesn’t waste any time,” Levi said and gave me a half smile. “I could always make it look like an accident.”I chuckled and shook my head. Making it look like an accident was always Levi’s solution to a problem. “I haven’t even spoken to Conroy yet,” I said to him.“You should talk to him today. Don’t waste time with this,” he said.“Yeah, I’ll handle it,” I said.I called Conroy to come and see me at the house and went down to the living room for lunch. Lyric looked different. Her aura didn’t have that double ring around it anymore and I thought maybe it had to do with her emotions being all over the place. She barely ate and she looked pale.I made a mental note to sit

We had killed all the Zetas, the Alpha and the Beta. The only people remaining were Blain’s original pack and they accepted him as Alpha without hesitation. Order had been restored and I felt good. Gray was licking his lips and he wanted to fight some more.“Wolfeboro, let’s port,” I said. The guys joined me and I ported us back to Ossipee where Rohan and his men were still waiting in the den for us. Dinah was now with her cousin and I had no idea what he had told her. We were covered in blood and none of my men were harmed. Levi would’ve been proud, or pissed that I hadn’t called him to join us.“That was fast,” Rohan said.“Nobody’s a real match for Sin,” Conroy said looking around.“Anyway, we should talk,” Rohan said as he looked at me again.“I should talk to my Gamma first. Give him a few days to come to terms with what happened. Don’t push this, Rohan,” I said to him.“A ranked wolf cannot just reject his mate,” Rohan said as his face reddened. “Who the hell rejects the bond? T

I felt sorry for Dinah, the pain of Conroy’s silent rejection could be seen in her eyes. As Conroy’s Alpha, I wouldn’t force him to do anything he didn’t want to do. Gray silently agreed with me, I could feel his emotions about it and the fact that we’d married a woman who wasn’t our mate, made him feel differently about bonded mates.I sighed as everyone turned to look at me. As Alpha I had to sort out Blain and his pack first. I couldn’t just leave them, the effect of Kiran’s blood in me wouldn’t allow it. I’d sort out Conroy and his mate later. It was rare for a pack to be attacked like that, especially since Jericho had taken over as Alpha King.“These people all followed you, why aren’t you challenging the Alpha for your seat?” I asked him.“I’m seventeen and he’s strong. I don’t think I can defeat him in a challenge fight. I don’t have enough experience yet to lead my pack,” he said. His statement cemented the decision I’d already made. He was a true Alpha especially because he’

Zed stood up too and he looked uncomfortable as hell. Greg was looking out of the window now, his fists clenching and unclenching. I was ready for whatever would happen but I hoped Greg knew that if he took his anger out on Caleb, he’d lose.Even though Caleb liked to bake cookies, he could kick ass. Levi had made sure of that. Caleb was no push over and when his wolf was pissed off, it was a lethal combination. Greg didn’t look like he could take Caleb and if it came down to it, I’d take Zed on as well, but I didn’t relish the idea, especially not in his territory.“I’m really sorry, we had no idea about the imprinting,” Zed said. I was shocked for a few seconds, not expecting Zed to take the high road here. Greg turned back to look at us and I could see the resignation on his face.“Shit happens,” Caleb said and took Greg’s offered hand and shook it.“I hope this won’t jeopardize our future relationship with each other,” Zed said.“Not at all, I’m not one to hold grudges,” Caleb ans
