The ball formed in Kai’s hands and he lashed out making it fly towards me. Levi tackled him to the ground hard. I went down on one knee and crossed my arms to somehow block the magic fireball hurtling towards me. I could feel the pressure of it against me but my arms were ablaze as well and the ball evaporated.

“How the hell did you do that?” Kai asked me as I stood up, looking just as bewildered as he did.

“Kiran slit my throat,” I said as Kai walked towards me again.

Kai grabbed me and pulled me closer as his tears started. “I’m sorry,” he whispered and let go of me after a few minutes. Jericho appeared with Storm and his twins and he grabbed his father first as the twins ran to me.

“How?” Jericho asked after hugging Levi for a long time.

We all gathered in the kitchen area, some of us around the table and the others on the couches. I told them everything that happened, what Kiran had told me and what he did afterwards. Kai was angry, Levi just nodded and Jericho looked at me intently.

“You have his Alpha aura, I can feel it. It feels like him,” Jericho said as his eyes flashed between violet and blue and green.

“We should prepare their bodies,” Saga said as she finally made her way downstairs and went to Kai as they wrapped themselves around each other. That’s when Saga finally broke down and showed her true sadness, she would only do that with Kai and William.

“I can’t believe he’s gone,” William said as he stood next to Levi.

“Even dying he did on his own terms, you could never tell that one what to do,” Levi said and I started to laugh as I looked around. Soon we were all laughing because it was true, nobody told Kiran what to do, apparently not even Death.

We kept the funeral ceremony small, only the family which included Alex and his family. Kiran had seen him as a close confidante and friend. I had seen too much death in my life but their deaths were the hardest to accept.

We stood in the small clearing around their bodies. Adara was dressed all in white, looking peaceful as she lay next to Kiran. They had fought and loved each other fiercely. In my eyes there was nobody that could compare to Kiran.

“We are all gathered here tonight under the full moon to give our respects to Kiran and Adara Sinclair. I call unto the gods to accept them both in the afterlife. I call unto Odin to grant Kiran and Adara passage into his realm, where I’m sure Malachi awaits them,” Kai said as he stood at their heads.

“Adara was a good mother. She loved us with everything in her. She took none of our bullshit but nobody would dare harm us in her presence either. She loved to help people, she healed everybody she could. Healing was her life, so was her family and even though she and Kiran fought a lot, she loved him with everything in her,” he continued.

“Saga Sinclair, step forth and claim the first incision,” Kai said clearly.

William stepped forward with Saga, holding onto her hand tightly as tears ran down her face. Kai gripped the ceremonial knife and handed it over to William. They knelt next to Adara and Saga’s hand was on top of William’s as they cut down her sternum. William pulled her rib cage apart and Kai stepped forward as he and Saga took hands and gripped her heart together, setting her spirit free.

“I love you, Mom,” Saga whispered as they put her heart back into her chest.

“I could talk about Kiran for weeks. He was a great father, a great Alpha, a great leader. He had a wild temper but the one emotion that always ruled him was love. He loved each and every one of us with everything in him. He never backed down from danger, instead he ran head first into the worst of situations. He died for us, a few times and kicked our asses when we needed it,” Kai said and a small smile formed on my lips.

“Christian Sinclair, step forth and claim the first cut,” Kai said as he looked at me.

I stood rooted to the spot. I was adopted, I wasn’t their blood but I loved them all the same. Kiran had given me a purpose, a life, pride in myself and he’d loved me too. I had seen his pain when I had died, the years he had mourned me. He had never stopped mourning me.

I took the knife from Kai as he nodded. “He loved you, Christian, he did this for you once, now it’s your turn to do this for him.”

I knelt next to Kiran and unbuttoned his shirt, not wanting to ruin it. I made the cut down his chest and then cut through the sternum. I gripped his ribs and pulled them apart. I looked up at Kai but he didn’t move, nobody did. I pulled his heart out and lifted it into the moonlight. A fire surrounded us, blazing green then red and finally blue.

Kiran’s body was levitating a few inches off the ground and his mouth opened as a bright white light escaped like a sigh and moved towards me. I stumbled back falling down on my ass as the white light entered me and I could feel Kiran.

Kai had stopped everyone as they took a step toward me. I still had Kiran’s heart in my hand and I placed it gently back into his chest and stood up. The knowledge of Kiran Sinclair filled me, his strength and his magic surrounded me.

I went to stand next to Kai and he nodded at me, like he knew what I was going to do. I closed my eyes and I pictured it. I felt his hand on my shoulder and then I felt Jericho’s hand on my other shoulder. We opened our eyes and I could feel that my eyes had changed color.

The Valknut burned around Kiran and Adara, the flames leaping up into the sky before settling over them, engulfing their bodies. I was praying for the Valkyries to reach down and take their hands, to escort them to the afterlife.

“Brenna,” we said together and the flames started burning brighter and I could feel the heat of the flames as their bodies burned.

Lyric was released two days later but I sent Caleb to pick her up and I avoided her during that time, making sure that we didn’t cross paths. I had other things on my mind and I chose not to think about her. I still didn’t trust myself around her. Gray still wanted to kill her.On Friday, Conroy and I ported to New York where the Council had their headquarters. Dinah was there with Rohan and three Council members, Ralph Goodwin, Mario Lopez and Charl Matthews. We were seated at a rectangular table and we’d all been introduced. Another man sat at the table but we hadn’t been introduced and I knew that he was a truth seeker.I didn’t know these men but they would know exactly who my family was. Gray was pissed off. He didn’t like Rohan any more than I did and this tribunal was just him being a sore loser. It was ridiculous actually, taking Conroy to the Council because of rejection.“This is the tribunal between the Sinclair and Carter packs of New Hampshire,” Ralph began. “The claim is

We all stood in the foyer, looking at each other. Caleb looked like he’d seen a ghost. His face was pale and confusion was etched onto his features. Alexis was emotional and unsure of what her next steps would be. It didn’t seem like she had anywhere else to go, so I stepped in.“Let her stay the night. Tomorrow we can all sit and talk about what to do,” I said to him.“Fine, but I’m doing a paternity test,” he said.“Fine,” she said as Caleb took her suitcase and she followed him to the spare room upstairs.Caleb wasn’t gone for long and I knew he hadn’t said anything else to her, other than to show her upstairs. He looked pissed off but I also knew that he would do the right thing by that child. I wasn’t sure if he’d ever forgive Alexis for what had happened, but he would be in his child’s life.“If someone takes me to the Council, I’m kicking your ass,” Caleb said as he came back downstairs and walked into the kitchen.“What did I do?” I asked him.“Everything that happens to you i

It took two days for the summons to arrive in my inbox from the American Council. Levi was with me in my office since Kai had called him and told him the whole story. We were busy discussing everything that had happened when I opened the summons.“Great, a summons to appear in front of the US Council,” I said.“Rohan doesn’t waste any time,” Levi said and gave me a half smile. “I could always make it look like an accident.”I chuckled and shook my head. Making it look like an accident was always Levi’s solution to a problem. “I haven’t even spoken to Conroy yet,” I said to him.“You should talk to him today. Don’t waste time with this,” he said.“Yeah, I’ll handle it,” I said.I called Conroy to come and see me at the house and went down to the living room for lunch. Lyric looked different. Her aura didn’t have that double ring around it anymore and I thought maybe it had to do with her emotions being all over the place. She barely ate and she looked pale.I made a mental note to sit

We had killed all the Zetas, the Alpha and the Beta. The only people remaining were Blain’s original pack and they accepted him as Alpha without hesitation. Order had been restored and I felt good. Gray was licking his lips and he wanted to fight some more.“Wolfeboro, let’s port,” I said. The guys joined me and I ported us back to Ossipee where Rohan and his men were still waiting in the den for us. Dinah was now with her cousin and I had no idea what he had told her. We were covered in blood and none of my men were harmed. Levi would’ve been proud, or pissed that I hadn’t called him to join us.“That was fast,” Rohan said.“Nobody’s a real match for Sin,” Conroy said looking around.“Anyway, we should talk,” Rohan said as he looked at me again.“I should talk to my Gamma first. Give him a few days to come to terms with what happened. Don’t push this, Rohan,” I said to him.“A ranked wolf cannot just reject his mate,” Rohan said as his face reddened. “Who the hell rejects the bond? T

I felt sorry for Dinah, the pain of Conroy’s silent rejection could be seen in her eyes. As Conroy’s Alpha, I wouldn’t force him to do anything he didn’t want to do. Gray silently agreed with me, I could feel his emotions about it and the fact that we’d married a woman who wasn’t our mate, made him feel differently about bonded mates.I sighed as everyone turned to look at me. As Alpha I had to sort out Blain and his pack first. I couldn’t just leave them, the effect of Kiran’s blood in me wouldn’t allow it. I’d sort out Conroy and his mate later. It was rare for a pack to be attacked like that, especially since Jericho had taken over as Alpha King.“These people all followed you, why aren’t you challenging the Alpha for your seat?” I asked him.“I’m seventeen and he’s strong. I don’t think I can defeat him in a challenge fight. I don’t have enough experience yet to lead my pack,” he said. His statement cemented the decision I’d already made. He was a true Alpha especially because he’

Zed stood up too and he looked uncomfortable as hell. Greg was looking out of the window now, his fists clenching and unclenching. I was ready for whatever would happen but I hoped Greg knew that if he took his anger out on Caleb, he’d lose.Even though Caleb liked to bake cookies, he could kick ass. Levi had made sure of that. Caleb was no push over and when his wolf was pissed off, it was a lethal combination. Greg didn’t look like he could take Caleb and if it came down to it, I’d take Zed on as well, but I didn’t relish the idea, especially not in his territory.“I’m really sorry, we had no idea about the imprinting,” Zed said. I was shocked for a few seconds, not expecting Zed to take the high road here. Greg turned back to look at us and I could see the resignation on his face.“Shit happens,” Caleb said and took Greg’s offered hand and shook it.“I hope this won’t jeopardize our future relationship with each other,” Zed said.“Not at all, I’m not one to hold grudges,” Caleb ans
