Cole POV

I had been searching in the packs of our neighboring territories all week. There had been some good leads from our meeting with the Alpha. I had one more pack to visit, but we had not heard back whether I was permitted to enter the territory or not. We did not have an alliance with them, but we were trying to meet with the intention that we were interested in an alliance.

The Crescent Moon Pack was not the best pack, but the Alpha appeared to be fair to his pack members. The Luna from the Gala had indicated the Alpha’s daughter was quiet and left the Gala early. I had hung onto the hope that this last visit would help me find my mate. Otherwise, I will have quite possibly lost her forever.

We had spoken with other packs, and they indicated the Alpha was worth talking to about an alliance. Not many had allied with them, but they did indicate he was respected. I paced Carson’s office, impatiently waiting to hear back from the Alpha.

“Stop pacing. You

  • Rescuing the Beta's Mate   Chapter 20 - Complicated

Cole POV I could not believe I finally had my mate in my arms. She had struggled to stay awake, but her eyes finally slipped shut after an hour into the drive. We had a few more hours to go, so Carson and I were communicating through our mind-link so as not to disturb her. “Marly is going to love her,” Carson said. I smiled, thinking of our very pregnant Luna. Pups grew faster for wolves, and she was quickly moving through the various stages of pregnancy. “I think we will have to contain Marly’s excitement slightly. I am not sure how Jessica will respond to a lot of attention,” I admitted. Carson nodded his agreement, “She will contain herself. She will appreciate the hard time Jessica has had,” he assured me. I knew she would, but I had to admit I was nervous myself on how to proceed with Jessica. She had been through so much, and so much more I did not even know yet. How would she handle a relation

  • Rescuing the Beta's Mate   Chapter 19 - Leaving

Cole POV “Theft of what?” I exclaimed holding on tightly to Jessica. “She stole something of value from her father,” the Wolf Council stated. “What?” Jessica asked quietly. “A family heirloom. He wants it back,” the Wolf Council leader replied. “I have never seen a family heirloom,” Jessica responded, looking alarmed. I believed her when she spoke and I felt the Wolf Council representatives also shared our concern. “Could you have mistakenly taken it when you were cleaning?” it was suggested. “No, I am not allowed on my father’s floor,” she responded, her face red with embarrassment. “Perhaps it was mistakenly placed in your room?” another suggested. “This is her fucking closet,” I said as I stormed over to the closet in the kitchen. They looked at me confused, “This is what her magnificent father allowed her to have to store her minimal belongings,” I told them. I could tell Jessica was mortified, but I could not conta

Cole POV I could feel her distress through the door. She was thinking about rejecting me. I could not let that happen. I whipped the door open and pulled Jessica into my arms. “You are stuck with me,” I muttered before capturing her lips with my own. I could not get enough of kissing her and I would spend the rest of my life like this. With her in my arms, my lips on her lips. She sighed into the kiss momentarily, before she realized what she was doing. “You do not even know me. I am not worthy of being anybody’s mate,” she admitted as I stared at her incredulously. “You are beautiful, and you are mine. That is all that matters to me,” I told her as I pulled her in for a tight hug. Releasing her, I took the damp cloth from her hand and started to dab the dried blood from her cheek. Once I was satisfied it was cleaned off enough, “Let’s go get you a drink of water,” I suggested as we stepped from the washroom. She led me

  • Rescuing the Beta's Mate   Chapter 17 - Fear

Jessica POV I sat there shaking as I made the statement, “I want to go with my mate.”. My father raged at me, leaping forward and swiping his claws across my face. As he did, he was taken down by the Wolf Council members, as the man who came with them held my mate back. I still did not know his name. And I did not know how to admit I felt nothing when he touched me. I knew he believed I was his mate, and I wanted to hold onto that, but I recognized he would realize his mistake soon enough. I only hoped he would stay long enough to help me escape. My mate turned to look at me, “I am sorry, Jessica,” he said as he inspected the damage on my face. “It is not your fault,” I whispered, as my father continued to try and get to me. I glanced over at Alpha Damian and realized he was also glaring at me. “You have made a big mistake,” is all that he murmured before turning and walking away from us and out the doo

  • Rescuing the Beta's Mate   Chapter 16 - Decision

Cole POV It was her. My mate. Only she was not recognizing me or was ignoring the fact that I was her fated mate. I watched as she got closer to me and could not help but exclaim “Mate!”. I stepped forward but her father stepped between us. “That is not possible,” Alpha Matheus commented. “It is possible and it is true,” I stated, looking to my mate for some type of recognition. What was wrong with her? Did she really want to marry the old bastard standing at the front of the room? He started to move towards us, “What is going on?” he spit out. “She is my mate, and I am objecting to this union,” I said calmly. I watched as the bastard’s face went red, sputtering, “We had a deal, Matheus. Fix this,” he said as he turned and walked back towards the front of the room. I looked to her father, realizing something far more sinister was happening. She did not want this. This was some sort of trade off. I lo

  • Rescuing the Beta's Mate   Chapter 15 - Found

Jessica’s POV I had been kept awake all night with the image of the man standing below my window. I had been looking to the forest wishing my father had not positioned guards right outside my door. When I first tried to leave, they shoved me back into the room letting me fall inside. The second time I attempted to open the door, the guard moved to stand in front of it. “What the hell are you doing? Are you trying to get yourself killed on the eve of your wedding?” the guard snickered. I felt the frustration rise inside of me, and my face go red with rage. “Go back inside or I will call the Alpha. He will not care that it is your wedding day tomorrow. He will take great pride in punishing you one last time,” the guard cautioned. Frustrated and out of options I slammed the door shut, before moving towards the window. That is when I saw him. I could tell from my viewpoint he was an attractive man. He was
