Chapter 22 - Belonging

Jessica POV

I was so comfortable, circled by warmth. I must be dreaming, I had never felt this warmth and security my entire life. I nuzzled down further into the warmth, feeling comforted. I felt something move against me and froze. My body tensed, as I came awake quickly.

I felt something hard against my back. Where the hell was I? Last I remembered I had been on the floor, in my usual place. Cold and uncomfortable. I slowly tried to disengage from the arms that were wrapped around me. “Going somewhere, darlin’?” I heard softly in my ear.

I gasped and started to frantically claw my way away from the warmth. Away from the protection. The arms circling me released me, while I jumped from the bed. I turned and was shocked to see Cole laying there with a lazy smile on his face. “What the hell are you doing here?” I demanded, looking around and making sure I still had my clothes on.
