Chapter 2

Over the next few days I learned more about Adrian's family than I had in the last seven years. Your mother's hobbies, your father's business, everything I didn't know. Only one thing Adrian refused to tell me and that was about his brother Pierre. He said that when I found him, I would understand why.

— Jenny! Adrian exclaimed as I walked into his apartment. He was only wearing boxers and his clothes were scattered all over the place. I raised an eyebrow at him. One would think that a woman lived here and not a guy.

- Wow. I whistled as he pulled a bottle of wine from somewhere under a pile of clothes. “Are you throwing clothes away or something?

He gave me a repressing look. - Of course. I'm tidying up.

I raised my eyebrows in disbelief. — Tidying up? Is that what it's called now?

He looked at me even more seriously. - Shut up. I have to go perfect, no matter what I have to do. And when you see how impeccably my brother dresses, you'll understand.

This was another thing I didn't understand about Adrian. He was amazing in every way. He had an important job, earned enough to be independent, had a lot of friends, was the apple of his mother's eye, but still, he always compared himself to his brother. According to Adrian, if I thought he was perfect, I wouldn't know how to react when I met Pierre.

“Your brother and you are two different people. - I said. “If everyone in the world tried to be like other people, we wouldn't have originals. You're going to your parents' house, not a business lunch or something. Don't you have to dress up just because your brother dresses like a businessman all the time instead of dressing like a normal person?

Adrian looked at me in surprise. It was like he couldn't believe the words came out of my mouth. I had never scolded him for his choices, for the way he thought, I wasn't his mother, for God's sake! – but this time I had to. I wouldn't be a good friend, let alone a best friend if I let him compare himself to his brother all the time, putting himself down.

- You are right. Adrian sighed. “I shouldn't compare myself to Pierre. I go home wearing shorts and nothing else.

I laughed. I had nothing else to do. He handed me the bottle of wine and I drank from the neck, letting it drip down my chin, making him wrinkle his nose in disgust.

“You really are a…” He paused, searching for the right word. "After all, what's wrong with you?"

I smiled, knowing the next thing I was going to say would probably make him want to kill me.

"Like you've never put something wide like that in your mouth."

He gave me a reprimanding look, no doubt realizing what I was referring to.

“It's not funny, Jenny. Remember, no sex jokes in front of my parents.

I grimaced.

"How are they going to believe we're really a couple?"

"When we give little kisses and hug like normal couples…?" Adrian stopped, making my eyes widen in surprise. I looked at him, trying to process what he said. Kisses? Hugs?

- You're kidding right? I asked, crossing my fingers and mentally praying that he was. Kissing him wouldn't be a big deal if he wasn't my best friend! But he was. And the icing on the cake is that he was gay! Kissing my gay best friend wasn't really on my "100 Things To Do Before You Die" list.

“We have to act like a couple, Jenny. Adrian said slowly, as if he were talking to a child. I grimaced as he continued. “I'm not a huge fan, trust me, but I really can't let it go.

"Are you never going to tell them?" - I asked. This was a sensitive topic for him. We almost never approached him. It was a taboo that Adrian didn't want to break. And I avoided him as much as possible, but sometimes I couldn't help but ask him.

He looked at me, but I didn't even blink. “That's my decision.

“I'm just asking you. I sighed. “You can't hide from them forever, one day when you actually find someone you might lose them because you refuse to come out with homosexuality.

He turned abruptly and walked into the kitchen. I sighed, waiting for him to come to. And while I waited for him to calm down and come back, I picked up all the clothes from the floor. I took the suits off the hangers and placed them on the couch. As I was folding his jeans, Adrian walked into the room. He looked surprised to see me still there and tidying up.

“You didn't leave. he said slowly, as if choosing the right words. “I'm sorry for leaving like this. I should not have done it. I will tell my parents. You have no idea how straight they are. I know this is no excuse, but I will talk to them, but in the distant future.

I shook my head at him. He was like a child sometimes.

“Help me clean up before it looks more like a hurricane has hit this place.

He laughed. "Have you packed your bags yet?"

- No. I shook my head. “I don't know what to pack. I was hoping you could help me.

"We need to go shopping!" Adrian announced.

I was about to turn and run when I heard those words, but his frown stopped my legs.

"I don't want to go shopping!" I exclaimed. “I have to finish my work at the cafe. I'm leaving for two weeks.

He narrowed his eyes at me. “You're the boss, you can take a vacation whenever you want.

“Please Adrian, don't…” I groaned, almost losing control. Going shopping with him was like signing his own death warrant. And I'd already been tortured enough.

“You need new things, Jenny. said Adrian in a 'it's so obvious' tone. “Some new bikinis, dresses and we're good to go.

I raised my eyebrows in disbelief. — Bikinis and dresses? What in the world happened to good old jeans?

- It's all right. “One or two doesn't matter much.

My jaw dropped to the floor. Adrian was acting like he was doing me a huge favor. This man had to get his head out of the clouds.

"Let's finish packing your suitcase, shall we?" I quickly changed the subject, hoping to distract him.

He smiled, before going into his room and pulling out a large suitcase. It was basically stuffed with all his clothes. I shot him an evil look.

“Now I have to do it all over again after I leave. He grunted, making sure I heard every word. “We know your taste.

“I love you too, Adrian, you gay. I smiled, sticking my tongue out at him, who shot me a dirty look.

“You gay Adrian. He replied and I gave him my best go to hell look. I closed her bags and grabbed her phone, dialed the pizzeria, which she obviously had on speed dial. “Oh, and hey, she orders food like she owns the place. he muttered.

I grinned unabashedly at him, before taking another swig out of the wine bottle, causing him to yell at me in disgust.

"Are you staying here tonight?" he asked with a twisted face.

- Clear. “I accepted your no offer, so he surprised me. "Are we going to sleep together at your father's house?"

Adrian smiled.

“Oh do you wish, dear? But like I said, I don't like pussy.

I threw a pillow at him, trying my best not to laugh.

— Ugh! That's not what I meant!

He shrugged. “If you don't have a problem, neither do I. I mean, it will make them look at us more like a couple.

Calm down, Jennifer. Remember to breathe. You have time. I repeated to myself all the time. The problem is, it's hard to focus on these things when you're in excruciating pain that feels like it's going to rip a part of your body off. “I'm here, man. Pierre's calm, reassuring voice wasn't helping either. I knew it was meant to be comforting, but if he said it one more time, I'd throw the first thing my hand could reach at his head. Adrian was driving like a madman down the street and I couldn't take it anymore. I wanted to get into the operating room right away. I had been stubborn and waited until the last minute, apparently. If I'd decided to go to the hospital the night before, we wouldn't be swearing at slow drivers or running through traffic lights at noon. “Adrian, go faster. She's crushing my hand. - Pierre said in a pained voice. I had taken her hand by the time I got in the car and she must have been white from my blood pressure. "Pierre, I'm not going to... aaaaaaaah!"

The next day the cyclone was still raging, which meant me and him stuck together in the villa. And after last night, I really don’t want to see Pierre at all, or his smirk. I walked to the huge study and started browsing books. The only good thing about my husband was that he had huge collections of books. I smiled at books from my favourite author. I took one and curled up on the recliner. As I opened the book, the smell wafted through my noise. I always found the smell of old book…amazing. “I wonder why I am seeing you everywhere” I heard his voice and turned towards the door. He was standing there, walking towards the desk. Unlike other days, he was wearing faded jeans and black t-shirt. He looked almost human but for the anger in his eyes. However, his face looked weird.I frowned. “What’s wrong?”“Why do you assume something is wrong?” he looked quite surprised by my question.“If everything was fine you would have a scowl on your face and your taunts would have

“Hey wake up” I heard his voice. Did I hear concern in his voice? Why was everything blank anyways?I felt cold hands on my arms, shaking me. I slowly opened my eyes to see a very angry Pierre. He sighed. “The next time you run off, its over.” He said and helped me up. I looked down and saw the bloody hole I fell into. Who digs a hole in the middle of a path?We walked all the way to the house with him grumpy and mumbling how stupid I was. The sky went from sunny morning to a grey dark. “Shit” my husband stopped in front of me and I bumped right on his back. He was looking up “It’s going to rain” he said and turned to me.“I trust you have enough energy to run?” he asked and I nodded. By the time we reached the house however, we were both soaked. I walked immediately to my room and headed for a warm bath. It was nice to soak in bubbly warm water after being in the dirt and running though my feet hurt like hell after my fall.I stared at the ceiling, wondering again,

It feels great when what one thinks actually happens. Two days since we arrived on the island and Pierre was still stuck in his study with his laptop and phone. I on the other hand, had the privilege to tour the beautiful island. On the north was an amazing sandy beach with a myriad of clear blue water and the sunny sky. The south of the island however, there was this gorgeous cliff with huge waves crashing onto them. This island was amazing. I was only able to tour the north and south in the two days. “You are free to do whatever you want to. There is only us and the house staff on the island, so you should be safe from paparazzi as well” Pierre had said before disappearing into the study. Well at least that put my mind to rest. I was able to enjoy this holiday. “Breakfast!” I heard the familiar voice call. Ever since we came, I had not seen him at all. When I turned, it was to find the business magnate Pierre gone, and a very tired looking one instead. However, unlike the usual b

I glanced at Adrian as he reached my side at the altar. Fucking asshole. “If you weren't my brother, you have no idea what I would do to you, you idiot. I muttered. Adrian smiled shamelessly. - But I am. “Thank heavens for that. I looked at him. Then smile. “The best thing our parents did was give me a brother. Before he could answer anything, the wedding march started playing, and my girl came on the scene. My breath caught, and once again I was reminded of what a lucky bastard I was that this wonderful woman wanted to marry me. She had a charming smile on her face, and walked down the aisle with both parents, one on each arm. One thing that could only come from Jennifer Kingsley Harrison. It only made me love her more. When she reached me, she bit her bottom lip and gave me a smile that was as beautiful as it was intimate. That smile was just for me. - Hey. she whispered as she threaded her fingers through mine. “You're a cat. “You're not bad either. I whispered back, a smile

    - Are you going to marry. Adrian's voice was stunned. As if he didn't know beforehand, or as if he'd just heard about it. I raised my eyebrows. “That's why we're here, and I'm in a wedding dress. — Shit. You are indeed getting married. he repeated. I frowned and was about to ask if he still had a hangover, but then he spoke again. “You should remain a spinster full of cats. “I hate cats, Adrian. I laughed at him. - Even so. Who's stupid enough to marry you? - His brother. Stop playing the repressed bitch at my marriage. “I'm not being repressed. Adrian smiled at me and then hugged me. - You look beautiful. My brother won't know what hit him. But I admit I'm a little jealous that you're getting married and I'm not. “Maybe you can drag Dylan to a little chapel here in Vegas. Has he rested from the trip? Dylan didn't come to Vegas with us, he had some errands to do before he left England, but he got on a plane a few hours later so he arrived just as Adrian and I were back from
