Chapter 6

Upon exiting the health and beauty store after buying some stuff, Faerie put her arm around my shoulder. Before shopping in the store, she bought me varieties of chocolates, and we even ate at my favorite Chinese restaurant.

"Feeling better now?" she asked, giving me a serene smile.

I nodded. "Thanks!"

Checking the bags full of our purchases, I could not help but shake my head in amazement. "Are you going to spend the weekend cooking and baking?"

"Yup! I'll cook you your favorite food," she said and winked at me.

My smile widened. "You're the sweetest!"

Using her free hand while driving, she pulled out something from her bag and handed me the pink cat squeeze ball.

I stared at it first before taking it from her. I giggled like a child playing with the cute squishy toy in my right hand. "Where did you buy this?"

"Online. It reminds me of you, so I bought it right away."

I closed my eyes but still could not stop giggling. "Does it look like me?"

"Yeah. Look at her eyes. Aren't they the same as yours?"

I just shrugged my shoulders. Rolling down the window while still squeezing the toy, I watched the busy road and buildings as we passed by them.

"Amity, wake up! We're here!"

I turned to Faerie and widened my eyes. "Oh, God! I dozed off?"

"Obviously," she said, chuckling.

We got off the car and carried the shopping bags to the apartment. I took a shower while Faerie waited for me in the bedroom, talking with a friend on the phone.

I was putting on clothes when I heard her call my name.

"Yes?" I shouted from the bathroom.

"Are we watching a movie?"

"Yup! You sleeping here tonight?"

"Nope, but I'll stay a bit longer because you need me."

I got out of the room and saw her eating. Sitting next to her, I took the slice of pizza from her hand, making her brow arch. "Amity!"

I leaned against the headboard and started eating. "I thought you were on a diet?"

Pouting her full lips, she got another slice from the box and looked at me. "I can no longer torture myself. I miss food."

Shaking my head in disbelief, I reached for the remote control and browsed on N*****x. I chose a period drama and heard no complaint from her. Feeling thirsty, she went out of the room to get a pitcher of water and a tub of ice cream?

Faerie never failed to amuse me.

I smirked but did not comment about her enjoying the food. I leaned my head on her shoulder and focused on the movie.

"I won't deny that Mr. Agrezor is an incredibly handsome man, but he's a rotten soul," she commented sullenly. "Almost every day, my officemates gossip about him being a casanova."

Focusing my eyes on the spoonful of ice cream, I sighed.

"Next time he accuses you or does something terrible to you, I'll make sure he'll regret it."

"I can handle him myself, love."

She poured water into my glass, and I drank it. "I know, but I'm here to back you up on anything. If they hurt you, they pay. Nothing is free in this world."

"Aww!" I replied, touched by her words.

I woke up early to finish the paperwork I left in the faculty room yesterday. Arriving 15 minutes before six, I was first in the faculty room.

I was doing a PowerPoint presentation for a specialized subject of the HUMSS strand when Mr. Reyes arrived. Seeing me alone and busy, he drew near me and watched me type on my laptop.

"Good morning!"

"Good morning, sir!" I greeted him back, and a smile softened my mouth.

"You're early," he commented.

I saved the presentation and spun myself in my swivel chair. "Mr. De Guzman asked me to accompany the president yesterday." Sweeping the thoughts away that suddenly came rushing to my mind, I took my cat squishy toy out of my bag and played with it.

"And? Did you feel uncomfortable around him?"

I just smiled as an answer. I felt like he wanted to ask more but chose not to. Two co-teachers came in, so he returned to his table and greeted them. He was absolutely an amiable person.

While getting my stuff ready for my first class, I received a message from Mr. Reyes.

Mr. Reyes:

Cheer up!

Me:

Sir?

Mr. Reyes:

I know you're thinking about the rumors, but I'm one of those who know the truth.

My hands trembled, tears clouding my vision while staring at the text. I looked at him, but he was busy talking with Mr. Javier.

Heading to the HUMSS building, I thought I could calm myself completely, but I was wrong. Another emotion started building up as a noisy, overcrowded classroom welcomed me.
