Chapter 29.

Sadie: "No. Because you died first."

Marcel didn't understand.

Dolores tried to explain: "It was the same night when we ran away from the ghost house, it was around the time Sadie killed you."

Dolores continued: "She said it was an accident; she stabbed you and then she collapsed and fainted."

Sadie's face clouded over. She was silent for a while before she broke down into tears once again.

Dolores hugged Sadie as she sobbed. Marcel sat on the sofa, staring at Sadie as she cried. He wanted to comfort her, but he felt awkward about it. He didn't know how to act in situations like this.

Finally, Sadie stopped crying and looked up at Marcel, wiping her tears with the back of her hand.

Sadie said: "If I had known that your parents were in danger, I would have saved them."

Marcel smiled wryly.

Dolores: "I doubt that very much."

Sadie said: "It's true though, I should have tried harder to save them."
