Chapter 4

Author: Perfect Timing
The post included everything from copies of the hospital’s exam orders, the scans, and the diagnosis results.

Even a photo of the exact moment she handed me that order in the imaging department.

Worst of all, there was a full video recording of me performing the scan on Mira from start to finish.

A chill ran down my spine, as if I’d been dragged straight back to my previous life.

I replayed it again and again, zooming in, slowing it down, but there wasn’t a single flaw.

I tossed the phone aside in panic. Even though the sun was blazing outside, I felt so cold that my body trembled.

Ten minutes later, another notification buzzed on my phone.

Mira had posted a new video.

This time, Cody appeared with her.

Right as it began, Cody broke down crying on camera.

"I let my sister down. It’s my fault that she lost her baby.

“Emily and I were in a relationship. We never got married, but we’d been trying to conceive for a while. Then, when my sister found out she was pregnant, I was thrilled. But Emily didn’t look happy at all.

“I never imagined her jealousy would go this far. She told my sister to get a CT scan so she’d have an abortion and insisted over and over that it was safe. We trusted her. She’s the professional, after all.

“Even though she hurt my sister, I still tried to protect her. That’s why these records are only coming out now. Please stop attacking my sister. Don’t let the real culprit walk free!

"Everything I’ve said here is the truth. I swear it on my life!"

Someone in the comments asked, [Then why release the evidence now?]

Cody replied, "Because she cheated on me."

Furious, I grabbed my phone, ready to fire back at his nonsense. However, after a moment’s hesitation, I set it back down.

An hour later, the story had hit number one on trending.

The comments were brutal.

[This is basically murder, isn’t it?!]

[She’s still allowed to be a doctor? What a monster!]

[Why hasn’t she been locked up already? Get her off the streets before she hurts someone else!]

The scandal exploded. Because I refused to make a public appearance, the situation only escalated.

It got so big that media outlets swarmed. Reporters and police showed up at my door, along with Mira and her family.

The moment she walked in, Mira grabbed my hair and slapped me hard across the face.

Cody stood with his phone held, livestreaming everything.

Viewers online cheered at the sight of me getting hit, clapping and flooding the chat.

The police rushed forward, pulling Mira back and telling her to calm down. "If you have something to say, use your words. Don’t get physical."

However, she wouldn’t listen. She dropped to the floor with a thud, throwing a full-blown tantrum.

"Pay up! If you don’t compensate me today, I’m not leaving this house!

"See these cops? They’re on my side. If you don’t hand over the money, I’ll have them drag you straight to prison for life!"

The officers and reporters squatted down, trying to talk sense into her. "We understand you’re upset, but please stand up. Let’s talk this out properly."

Only for Mira to scream back, "Leave me alone! Unless I get the money today, I’m not moving!"

"I’m right, aren’t I, everyone?!

"And to those new joining the stream, check the links in the shop below! Don’t miss out!"

That’s right. Mira had been livestreaming and selling products every day for the past week. Even if I didn’t pay her so-called emotional damages, she’d already made a fortune.

When a reporter asked her to shut the stream down, she slapped the woman across the face. "Stay out of my business! My viewers deserve to see this live. I’m doing this for them!"

The audience praised her, calling her fearless for daring to strike a reporter. Mira raised her chin smugly.

"What’s the big deal? Push me far enough, and I’ll even hit the cops."

The arrogance in her voice was shocking.

Cody kept shooting her warning looks, but she ignored them completely.

That’s when I finally spoke, steady and calm. "I also have evidence to prove my innocence."

The chaotic scene instantly fell quiet.

Mira sneered.

"What evidence? If you’ve got something, let’s see it right now!"

"Then come with me to the hospital."

Using AI-generated photos and videos was actually my idea. I had someone tip Mira off on purpose.I pretended to be nervous and evasive, hoping she would blow things out of proportion. So, when the truth came out, everyone would know I had been framed, and my career wouldn’t be ruined.Second, stirring up her family’s attention made it easier to investigate Mira’s bullying. The reporters eventually exposed everything online. My innocence was finally proven. Many netizens who had once cursed me flooded my account with apologies. Hospitals that had previously rejected me now sent job offers.I felt my eyes grow damp without realizing it. In my previous life, because of Cody’s family, I was buried under crushing debt and blacklisted by every hospital. Some even used me as a cautionary tale in their annual lectures. With nowhere to go, I had been forced to work construction, enduring both physical and mental torment. This time, I thank God for giving me another chance. The story

“You’ve lost it! Do you even realize what you’re doing?!”“She’s my sister! No matter what, I can’t just stand here and watch the cops drag her away without lifting a finger!”The officers only cuffed him on the spot for obstructing an arrest. As the scene unfolded, a reporter heading out paused long enough to give me a firm pat on the shoulder.“Leave the rest to us.”Meanwhile, after escaping, Mira wasn’t wasting a second. Somehow, she had already fired up a livestream. On camera, she began to cry.“Everyone, please listen! The power of money is terrifying. I’m just an ordinary girl. I have no money or connections. I can’t fight against them! “Not only did they refuse me any compensation, but now they’re trying to throw me in jail to silence me!”Her words instantly whipped up outrage in the chat.[Unbelievable! So they don’t even bother hiding it anymore? Why is it so hard for normal people to even defend themselves?!][I know right! When she threatened her to stop the s

Cody lunged forward and snatched the knife out of Mira’s hand. It was nothing more than a toy. He quickly restrained her, then apologized to us.“I’m sorry. My sister’s still young and immature. Please don’t hold this against her. “I beg you not to spread this around. We promise we’ll never bring it up again once we leave. She has a future ahead of her, a life to live. This one mistake can’t ruin everything for her.”When none of us showed the slightest reaction, Cody grew more desperate. He even tried to get on his knees and beg.I couldn’t stand the pathetic act any longer. His false humility was really just moral blackmail.“So your sister’s future matters, but mine doesn’t?!“Do you even realize what this could do to my career if it isn’t cleared up? “How am I supposed to work in a hospital again? What hospital would even take me after this? “Cody, stop being so selfish!”The ugly, painful memories of my past life flashed before my eyes, and my emotions finally crac

The monitor flickered back and forth, but nothing showed with Mira’s initials. To be thorough, in case I was accused of modifying her name, I even pulled up every file.I was clearing my name. After the demonstration, I specifically told the reporters that when this went public, all patient names and scans must be blurred out. Patient privacy came first, and nothing could be leaked. That was why, when we walked in earlier, I had insisted Mira cut the livestream, even though I knew leaving it running would’ve been more in my favor.“My name’s not in here! You must’ve tampered with it in advance and deleted mine!” Mira sneered.I just smiled calmly. I had expected her to question it.“It’s impossible. Once patient data is logged into this system, it can’t be erased. Otherwise, how could patients, or even we technicians, trust that our rights are being protected? If you don’t believe me, try it yourself.”The police and reporters tested it over and over, only to find that it reall

“Hmph, fine. Let’s go see what tricks you’re trying to pull this time!”When we stepped out the door, Mira dramatically pulled out a pair of handcuffs and snapped them onto my wrists.“Criminals should act like criminals!”Cody, on the other hand, pretended to play the good guy, offering to unlock them for me.I refused it.It wouldn’t be long before Mira herself would be the one in cuffs, anyway. The first stop was the hospital’s billing office. I asked the clerk to print out the revenue record for July 4th. Since I had already spoken with the hospital director, the staff was cooperative and quick. The statement clearly showed that Mira had paid her fee at exactly 10:00 a.m. and then requested a refund at 11:50 a.m.Among the stack of refund slips, I easily pulled out hers, which was stamped “refunded” in bold letters at the bottom right. Then, I brought up the scan Mira had posted online and saved it to my phone before opening my gallery. The photo’s timestamp was plain as d
