Darkness. There was darkness all around me. I had a strong feeling that I was dead but also knew that I somehow existed. It was hard to explain but I knew that I was somewhere though I did not know where.

Suddenly, a bright light shone with brilliance before me. It was so bright that I had to look away. “I have seen your pain and misfortune. I have inhaled your grief and heartbreak.” A voice spoke from the light.

I listened but feared to look.

“Your life has been filled with so much fear. You have been held down by mortal sickness, by your parents, and even your pack. But most of all, you were given a death that you did not deserve.” The voice seemed like it was everywhere at once.

“So I am going to give you a gift; something that only a select few have been given. And that is a second chance at life. Choose wisely what to do with this gift. But I’d advise that you take off the robe of fear and wear the robe of courage.” The voice continued.

“Who are you?” I dared to ask as I shielded my eyes from the light. I felt a warmth and love around me so strong as if I could touch it.

“The Moon goddess.” The answer came and then a sharp ringing immediately filled my ears until I could not take it anymore. I covered my ears but the noise only became louder. The noise was so great and it came to such a volume that my ears bled.

Suddenly, it stopped.

It was all quiet now. The torture was over. I opened my eyes slowly and I saw that I was in a room. The air was warm and the sun shone through the thin curtains at the window.

“Hey, darling. You’re up early, how was your night?” A voice startled me, causing me to grip the pink sheets of the bed I realized I was on.

It was a man. He had just entered the room. “You look like you have seen a ghost,” He chuckled and then joined me on the bed. He tried to touch my hair but I flinched away from him, causing him to frown slightly. “Katara, what’s wrong?”

I knew my name was not Katara, it was Lucia. So the man calling me by that name made me more confused than I already was. I dragged my body off the bed and stood to my feet.

The man kept staring at me and then laughed to himself lowly. He stood up too. “Is this supposed to be a prank on your old man?” The man continued to laugh as he ran his hand through his wavy dark hair.

As I studied him, a memory suddenly sparked in my mind and I inhaled sharply.

In my mind, I saw a man walking towards me with a devilish smirk on his face along with his drawn-out claws. In a swift motion, he had split open my throat and I had fallen to the ground before death had taken me.

Along with this memory, more shot into my mind; memories about my parents, my pack, and even my medical condition that I hated. I was starting to remember.

I remembered that I had died at the hands of a rogue werewolf!

But if I had died, how was I in the room with the man? How was my heart still beating? How was I still breathing? And most importantly, why was this strange man calling me Katara?

“Honey, you’re scaring me. Are you okay? This better not be an act to skip school,” The man said as he approached me.

I backed away a few steps and then my back hit something. When I turned to see what it was, I realized that it was the wall. I began to breathe heavily and if I did not find a way to calm down, I knew that I was going to have a panic attack.

“Katara…” He said cautiously as worry covered his face.

“Stop calling me that!” The words left my mouth before I could even process that I had said them. My voice surprised me, it was different; much lighter, and high-pitched.

I looked at the man once more. I squinted my eyes in the process and then it clicked. I knew him. My lips quivered and I let out a shaky breath.

I couldn’t believe what was happening. The man in the room with me was actually the one that sliced my throat open. He was the one that had killed me. It was all coming back to me.

“You’re one of them,” My voice was shaky. “You’re one of the rogue werewolves.”

“Look, Katara. We talked about this. I told you that I don’t appreciate my daughter using that term. I am getting a bit tired of having to remind you every time as if you don’t know that it pisses me off.” He replied and then breathed out a sigh. He was now standing not far from her.

“I prefer that we’re called Elites instead of rogues. By using rogues, we’re looked down upon.” He added.

“Daughter? I’m your daughter?”

The man snickered and then rubbed his face with his hand. “You know what? I’m done playing these games with you. I would be downstairs waiting for you. Breakfast is ready and as you know, your mother doesn’t like waiting.” He explained and then walked away.

I watched him carefully until he left me alone in the room.

‘What the hell is going on?’ I thought to myself as I began to search the room for a mirror. My eyes landed on the full-length mirror in the right corner of the room and I tentatively walked toward it.

When I reached it, my reflection came into view and my mouth dropped in awe. My once wavy blonde hair was now straight and dark. My body was much thinner and my face looked different from the one that I was used to seeing in the mirror every day of my life.

I was in another body! I had died but from the looks of things. But I had been given a second chance.

The Moon goddess had blessed me with the opportunity to live again! And crazy enough, I had reincarnated into the body of the daughter of the man that had killed me in my past life.

But he had not only killed me. He killed my parents. He killed my neighbors. He killed my friends. And he killed almost everyone in my pack.

Anger suddenly began to fill my senses and only one word came to my mind: Revenge.

Two months later, I was on my way to the werewolf prison. The sun was bright and yellow. The sky was blue and the wind was perfect. I wore my hair down and had the windows rolled down. The wind blew my hair back and it was actually really soothing. It felt like I was at the end of a movie, but I was far from that. My life was not over, in fact, I think it had just begun. In my past life, I was alive but barely lived. I was in constant pain and agony and when I was finally delivered from that kind of life, I was thrown into a new one that was filled with so much crap that I sometimes wished that I had not reincarnated. But now. Now, I was much much better. I was more mature. I was stronger in so many ways that I could not explain. I finally had peace and I got the revenge that I sought so badly. But I got it by letting go. I got my revenge by freeing myself from the hate, the anger, the rage, and the need to want to punch the wall over and over. I got my revenge and vindication for

The air was cold and had a sweet smell. We were still in the room that looked like a conference room. From the windows, you could see the beauty of the town. It was very magnificent. Both natural and unnatural light filled the room, so we had no light problem. “Who can corroborate your story?” General Sara asjed again. We had her full attention and I could tell that she really wanted to know if what we just told her was true. But the thing was, we were not worried, because it was indeed true. If it was not, then we would have been worried, but not when it was. “Sam, Katara, and Chad can do that. They can corroborate our story,” I explained to her. “They were there, of course. Have them questioned. They would have to tell the truth because they wouldn’t want their application to the Supreme Court Of Packs to be threatened.” “Hmm…” She mumbled in response and chewed playfully on the pen. “But if they’re not the ones you were hoping we could use as witnesses then we have one more pe

“Hands where we can see them!” One of the policemen said loudly and with authority. My heart was racing and my eyes darted almost everywhere. Then Jade tried to calm me. “Hey, hey, calm down.” “They’re about to arrest us, Jade! How do you expect me to calm down? They could literally take us back to the rogue town and who knows what Sam would do to us.” I was panicking. When the policemen closed the distance between us and them, one female patted me down and searched me while a male officer did the same to Jade. When they realized that we had nothing on us that could be a threat to them, they took their hands off us and took a few steps back. “What’s going on here?” Jade asked confidently but got no response. A black sleek car then pulled over in seconds and the door was opened by one of the officers. From in the car came down a beautiful dark-skinned lady with curly hair. Her face was void of any expression and she was dressed in some sort of military uniform that I couldn’t reco

Welcome to Greenleaf—the huge sign board read. The moment we drove into the beautiful and modern town, it was like everything got better. There was no way that Sam, his daughter, or Chad would be able to do anything to us in this town. “Wow,” My mom said at the same time that Gloria gasped. “This place reminds me of the human lands,” Gloria chuckled the words out. “Come on, mom. How do you know about how human lands look?” Jade’s voice was laced with some humor. He kept driving and from the look on his face, I could tell that he was amazed by the town too. “Son, I know a lot of things that would make your jaw drop. I once lived amongst humans. But that is a story for another time.” She smiled. “That is how I know that this town is almost a replica of how human places look.” “Well…yeah, you’re right. Humans once lived in this town; a long time ago,” I explained what I was told when I was in the town some days ago. “It’s so different, but in a beautiful and jaw-dropping way,” My m

After an hour of driving on the almost empty road, we got closer to the mansion. But before we could reach there, we passed right past Chad’s house. He was not lying about having a birthday party, I would say that. Loud music boomed from the house and so many people were still there; out in the compound partying. I could not imagine the number of people in the house. “Gosh, they’re celebrating after they tried to kill us,” Jade mumbled, then released a short sigh. He glanced at me and kept his eyes on me for a few seconds longer before asking, “Are you okay? You look like you’re in pain. Are you?” He was right. I was in pain. But I did not want him or anyone to know that. “What are talking about?” I tried to act as normal as possible, but it was not easy because pain tickled my bones with each breath that I took. “Lucia, don’t pretend. I noticed that you were in pain from the moment you freed me from that shack. I saw that you were trying to hide that fact from me so I pretended

We hid in the bushes and stayed as quiet as possible. Owls hooted and night creatures sang, but that was not what we were listening to. We had our ears open; to see whether we hear more sounds from the cabin. “I hear nothing,” Jade whispered to me. “Shhh, be quiet,” I replied to him in a breathy way. We stayed quiet and just as I expected, another sound erupted. It was the sound of the opening of the door. We ducked deeper into the bushes and waited to see who would walk out. The door swung open and there stood in a dark suit and smirk, was Sam. He ran his hands through his perfectly styled hair and wet his lips before walking down the small staircase that led to the forest ground. He placed his hands in his pockets and proceeded to walk to the back of the cabin but suddenly stopped, causing my heart to do a backflip. I reached for Jade’s hand and held it tightly in my hand. Sam started to sniff the air. It was clear that he was catching a foreign scent in the air. And that was u

I made sure that I had some cover in the bushes as I walked closer to the shack that I suspected Jade to be in. There was no car or any sort of vehicle parked around there so it was likely that Katara and Chad were not there. Though I had healed myself to some extent, I still was not totally healed. And that meant I was still in a world of pain, just not as much as before. I ran my hands through my hair and closed the distance between the shack and me. The door was locked, unlike the way mine was. If I had enough strength, I would have been able to wolf out and destroy the lock and a simple hit, but I could not. I had to find another way. I wiggled the lock on the door and sure enough, it was a strong one. I winced as a sharp stabbing pain rang around my rib area. I did not know what it was and I was not a doctor, so the best thing to do was to ignore it until I had gotten Jade the help he needed. I visually searched around for something to use to break the lock, then my eyes fina

Drip. Drip. Drip. Drip. That was the sound that woke me up. The dripping of water into something like a metallic pan. I released a labored breath and then opened my heavy eyelids. The world was blurred for a few seconds until my vision cleared. My throat was very dry and I was in a lot of pain. I proceeded to get up from where I was lying but it was torture. I managed to do it though. I sat up and groaned as I study the room I was in. The air smelled like urine and mud. And the sound of the water dripping was now even louder. I soon realized that it was raining. And there was a leak from the ceiling. A metallic pan was placed under the part of the roof that was leaking, as a way to collect the dripping water. That was where the sound was coming from. My head was hurting so badly and I could not stop my eyes from producing tears. A sob escaped my mouth when my mind reminded me of everything that had happened. They knew. Katara and Chad knew, and now they were taking their revenge

Chad sat in the back, next to me, while Jade sat in the front, next to Katara. We did not want it that way but katara insisted. She said that she wanted Chad and me to get more comfortable with each other but all that did was make me more uncomfortable. The windows were rolled up and the AC was on full blast. The car smelled new and there was a tension hovering that I could not explain. I just felt on edge but I did not know what. “You said that the party would be held at Chad’s house, right?” I asked, trying to speak above the music that was playing in the car. “Hmm?” Chad locked eyes with me. And then his eyes widened a bit when his brain caught on to what I had asked. “Oh, yeah. It’s at my place. It’s going to be so much fun. You have no idea how long I have waited for this day.” He grinned. I let a few seconds pass between us before I spoke. “In case I did not say it, Happy birthday.” I flashed him a warm smile. He nodded in response and then mumbled, “Okay.” I did not know
