Chapter 69

We hid in the bushes and stayed as quiet as possible. Owls hooted and night creatures sang, but that was not what we were listening to. We had our ears open; to see whether we hear more sounds from the cabin.

“I hear nothing,” Jade whispered to me.

“Shhh, be quiet,” I replied to him in a breathy way. We stayed quiet and just as I expected, another sound erupted. It was the sound of the opening of the door. We ducked deeper into the bushes and waited to see who would walk out.

The door swung open and there stood in a dark suit and smirk, was Sam. He ran his hands through his perfectly styled hair and wet his lips before walking down the small staircase that led to the forest ground.

He placed his hands in his pockets and proceeded to walk to the back of the cabin but suddenly stopped, causing my heart to do a backflip. I reached for Jade’s hand and held it tightly in my hand.
