Chapter 8

“You need to stop beating yourself over that guilt, Lily.” Diana smiles enthusiastically as she stops the car in front of a building. It’s about a two-story building. I get out of the car as I stare at the building with hope in my eyes. I think my suspicions are right; Diana no longer lives in Yonger.

“That’s more like it, Lily. I want you to smile and be happy because no man is worth your tears.” She walks around the car from the driver's seat to meet me as she holds my hand.

“Are you stunned that I now live in New York?" She blushes, tucking her long black hair behind her ears as she leads me through the building.

“I am, Diana.” I say, quietly.

“Well, I moved out just to start over somewhere new; it had to be in New York because I found a very good job here.” She stares happily at me as we walk through the stairs leading to the second floor.

“I wish I didn’t leave you.” The sadness in my tone is something I cannot easily get rid of. I’m guilty as fuck, and I have to go through it.
