Aurora POV
“Exactly, I never get to see you guys anymore. Spill all the tea!” Stacey adds, her blue eyes widening as leans in closer to the two of us. I chuckle, trying to think what would count as tea right now. Kara shakes her head, keeping quiet as usual. “I’m afraid I have no tea.” she chuckles and Stacey’s face drops. “But it’s your birthday. Come on,” she presses, still acting a little hopeful. “Not even an unbelievable present from your mates?” she looks to both of us. “We’re doing presents later,” I tell her as she then turns to Kara. “Elio got me a kitchen aid and a few other baking tools I had been hoping for,” she smiles as Stacey smiles. “That’s great, not exactly what I would call tea,” she mutters as I give her a look. “Is there something you want to share with the group?” I ask as she taps her chin. Gretchen comes out of Stacey’s little dog and jumps up to sit on her lap. “He’s just… changed lately. Not in a bad way. Just different. Like he’s carrying something heavy, but pretending it’s not there. Every time I try to ask, he just distracts me and tells me it’s nothing. But I’m not so sure,” she mutters before looking at her mate, who is chatting with Hunter's beer in hand. I follow her line of sight, biting my lip as I wonder what that could be about.
“I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about, Jaden, like all alphas, probably just want to keep us safe. Sometimes it can be a little overbearing,” she nods, but I see her chew her lip as if it is more than that. “Jaden would tell you if it was anything to worry about,” Kara replies, patting Stacey’s arm as she nods. “You’re right. He just drives me crazy. I can’t tell some days if I want to kill him or kiss him,” she chuckles as I laugh, knowing exactly what she means. “Probably both knowing you,” her cheeks turn pink as she looks away from us and I see Jaden look up at her from below.
I always knew the mate bond was a powerful force to love another person so completely they are like an extension of your very soul. I was lucky enough to be given four mates, and I love each one equally and completely. They literally changed my world and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Each one is utterly perfect and balances our family just right. Sebastian is head of security, Ethan head of combat training, Caleb manages the books and keeps the pack in running order and Gabriel heads up the pack hospital. I make sure all of them don’t get stressed, keep the kids safe on top of my luna duties.
We have three little pups of our own. Luca, our eldest, is special. Selene said he would unite the packs. But gods never speak plainly. What they mean by ‘unite’… I’m terrified to find out. Our packs are untied through our conclave meetings and by blood, with my siblings mated in different packs. We have tried to strengthen to unions to protect Luca. I know at some point something will change to cause the shift where our alliances break down. I just want to give Luca as much time as possible before he takes this all on. I gnaw on my lip as I watch him walk around the pool before sitting down, dipping his legs in, his bright silver eyes shining in the sun.
It’s nice to see Luca as himself. With our family, he doesn’t have to hide. Because of his silver eyes that burning like liquid flame. Caleb had created some glasses for him to dull the colour to a mute grey. His aura rivals my four alpha mates - four grown alpha men, and he is only eight. The level of power in his little hands terrifies and overwhelms him. We all know he is safe here amongst family, those we trust the most, and he doesn’t have to hide. But I know it is only a matter of time before our pack and others begin to notice just how different he really is. That is something I am not ready for. His prophecy came from Selene herself and as much as I want to fight his battles for him, that would mean battling the actual gods to do so.
Each morning I wake praying no one will notice, no one will ask questions. Will see just how different he truly is. I see the curious looks in their eyes, the way the suspicion begins to seep in. It’s one thing for them to acknowledge that he is different. I have no idea what I will do if they see him as a threat.
The glasses Caleb created help but as wolves, it is rare to wear glasses and those add a layer of curiosity. For eight years we have managed to hide his eye colour and explained his incredible aura, strength and speed with the fact he is the first child to be born to five alphas. Our bond is rare and that helps. But when Logan and Violet came along, the difference between them is stark. I watch him as he sits by the pool, his sharp features set in a slight frown his dark blonde hair ruffled on top of his head as he looks at his cousin playing in the pool splashing each other and having fun.
He struggles so much to fit in and it drives his anger far more than anything else. He has ripped off cabinets and destroyed furniture when he gets annoyed. Only to break down afterwards because he feels like he can’t control it. He has a lot of power for someone so young. Gabriel has stitched us all up more times than I can count. To help Luca not feel so guilty and to hide to the pack his strength. Wolves heal quickly at the best of times. His strength is beyond most of our healing. But he is my baby boy and I wish more than anything he didn’t have this burden.
Luca POV Present DayThey left me. They actually left me.After I called for them. Protected them.Is the witch right? Do my parents not love me?The witch had forgotten about me by morning. She and the alpha had been in a lot of meetings together somewhere. They both were very angry from the sounds they made. I kept moving and hiding, stealing food during the day and eating at night, hoping I wouldn’t bump into the witch so she couldn’t turn me visible. I wasn’t sure if she needed to see me for the spell to work, but I wasn’t going to go back into that cell.My tears had long since dried.I knew she cast a spell on me to stop anyone from seeing me. Hearing me. My parents just should have known better. Mummy looked right where I was standing. She could almost sense me. If she had just reached forward, she would have felt me right there. Or maybe I’m wrong. Each time I reached for her, she hadn’t tried to find me. She had just looked around before giving up.None of my daddies even ca
Luca POV Trudging back to the house, I make my way to the kitchen and steal some apples and bread rolls whilst no one is looking. Then I walk down to one of the lounges and wait. I need to think of a plan.My stomach still hurts from eating so much, but I can’t just not eat. Instead, I scan the busy maids the way the alpha and his luna move throughout the house. The maid from earlier is nowhere to be seen.I wonder if they can see the bites of my apple core left on the side of the crumbs from my bread roll? I wait as they walk closer towards me, both in their gold outfits, before stopping right in front of me. They don’t see me either.“Must you humiliate me in front of the entire pack,” the woman hissed, her long brown hair tucked tightly into a bun. “You are the one who is barren. I made it very clear that you place as my luna was for your protection. But I have my needs and most importantly, I need an heir,” he growled lowly as the woman starred at him in disbelief.“I am well awa
Luca POV The witch dragged me to the kitchen, which was full of people preparing food. My mouth watered so much it all smelt so delicious. There were sweets, warm fresh breads, rich meats, creamy potatoes, and shiny green apples. I wanted to eat it all. I needed to eat it all. “Wait here,” the witch growled before dragging me to a corner by the sink. How many people were coming tonight? Was it too much to hope it was my parents that they had finally found me?I felt my heart jump at the thought. They finally came for me.The witch returned with a small plate and a cup. Scanning the kitchen with the all the other rich foods, I was a little disappointed. Before she could say anything or take it away, I grabbed the cup, which had hot soup in. More of a broth, but it did taste nice. I swallowed it all, finally feeling better, and my tummy was surprisingly full. I ate the grapes a bread roll still. I ate it all. Then I felt sick. The witch sneered at me the entire time. She gave me a glas
Luca POV 1 week agoMy stomach hurts. I don’t know how long they have left me here. In the cold. In the dark. Alone. I have cuts and bruises that won’t heal as they are covered in dirt. The rats that try to nibble my toes at night when I sleep. Some days I think about eating them. But I don’t.Mummy and Daddies are coming for me. They will find me. Daddy will make me better and mummy will give me lots of hugs. Forgive me for what I did.I want to go home. The cold, hard floor is seeping into my bones. I can’t focus on anything and I’m too tired. Yet too cold to sleep.I wonder if Logan and Violet miss me.I miss them. The cell door scratches open as the clack of heels comes. The lady with long blonde hair and evil eyes scans my cell. I’m hidden in the back corner so she can’t see me, but she looks right at me as if she can, her eyes pinching together. “Where are you, you little brat?” she’s alone and using her long fingers forces open my cell door. She doesn’t have food, so whatever
Aurora POV “That was bleak. I actually think Matthew likes me after that,” Elio mutters as we all gather in the aftermath of my mates and their parents. There were many low blows delivered on both sides, which only made everything worse. I finally called a stop to it when I saw mum’s face and how much it dropped from seeing them come to loggerheads.“Trust me, he doesn’t,” Ethan grumbles, scratching his jaw as he leans against the bookshelf. Kara gives Elio a look before sighing and looking at the rest of us. “Let’s not start that again. Elio and I have done some digging,” she adjust her seat on the sofa capturing all of our attention as Sabastian plays with my hair. Something he has been doing more and more since Gabriel took away his cigarettes.“We think we know why Caleb’s visions are being blocked and how Teddy is hiding Luca,” that stopped me short. My heart was beating my mouth as Sabastian ceased twiddling with my hair.“Tell me,” I pleaded, as Kara gave me a sympathetic smil
Aurora POV “Mum, Dad, you’re early,” I greet my mother as she beams up at me. The woman is small long blonde hair and grey eyes. Dad, or should I say Matthew, stand in the doorway with their bags on the floor as Rosa and some of the gaurds help bring them inside.“Is this anyway to greet your mother?” She fusses, looking me up and down before her lips press into a tight line. “We should have come here sooner. I’m so sorry sweetie, I just thought,” her eyes glance at Matthew before looking behind me to where my mates are before she adverts her gaze. “We’re here now,” she gives me a warm smile before she greets my mates and Matthew gives me an awkward hug. To my surprise, behind her are Elio, Kara, Aria and Xander.“You’re here,” I just about say before Kara gives me a knowing smile and embracing me as I swallow a mouthful of her dark curls. “The kids wanted to see their cousins, and I figured it might help. Besides, we have some news.” Her gaze flits to Elio as he swallows, not lookin
