LOGIN/Selene's POV/
He was there again.
Not Atlas. Not the rejection.
Him. The warmth of his hands, the pine and woodsy scent of him, his voice low against my ear, saying something I couldn't reconstruct but that made my whole body lean toward the sound.
I woke up flushed, heart beating faster than sleep could explain, a warmth pooling low in my stomach that I had absolutely no framework for.
I pressed my hand against my cheek and felt the heat there. My core was hotter, and I could feel the dampness in my panties.
So that's what that feels like.
Athena made a sound that could only be described as smug.
Don't, I warned her.
She ignored me completely.
Monday. 5:20 am. I sat up, willed my pulse back to something reasonable, and gave myself exactly ten seconds to sit in the remnants of whatever that was before the day began its usual assault.
Ten seconds. Then I got up, because Veronica wouldn't wait.
She was already in the kitchen when I came downstairs, radiating drama as if it were a personal fragrance.
"How gracious of you to join us, Madam Selene." She threw her hands up. "I was just about to come and escort you out personally."
"I actually waited for you," I said sweetly. "I was disappointed when you didn't show."
The scowl she produced could have sent me to an early grave. Her eyes went wide and slightly bulging in a way that reminded me powerfully of an owl that had received bad news.
"Don't get smart with me. You're cleaning my room today on top of everything else." She pointed at the stack of dishes on the counter. "Start there."
I looked at the dishes. I looked at her. I smiled. I enjoyed toying with Veronica because she had never physically assaulted me, and with the way I get away with things, she doesn't plan on doing so anytime soon.
She stormed out before I could say anything else, which was probably wise of her. Or me.
The dishes took less time than she'd hoped, I was sure. The sweeping took even less. I'd cleaned this house so thoroughly yesterday that there was genuinely nothing left to find.
By the time Veronica appeared to send me to her room, I was almost in a reasonable mood.
Then I opened her door.
"What," I paused, "happened in here?"
It wasn't a question. Questions implied there might be a rational answer. What I was looking at defied rationality, clothes colonising every surface, the floor barely visible beneath layers of Veronica's particular brand of chaos, the bed looking like it had witnessed a small natural disaster and lost. She had done this deliberately. This was a Saturday's worth of mess created overnight out of pure spite.
Oh, how Veronica loves torturing me!
I stood in the doorway for exactly five seconds, mourning my life choices.
Then I got to work, because there was nothing else to do.
I sorted the clothes by smell, the only reliable method when someone had apparently thrown both clean and dirty garments into the air and let gravity decide. Made the bed. Dusted every surface from the ceiling downward because doing it any other way was just moving dust from one place to another. Vacuumed. Swept. Organised her belongings with the precise, controlled movements of someone who was absolutely not thinking about how satisfying it would be to throw everything out the window.
The bathroom was its own adventure. I restocked. Scrubbed. Considered, briefly, doing a mediocre job just to make a point, then decided I hated working twice more than I hated Veronica and did it properly.
I emerged from her room an hour and a half later, closed the door quietly behind me, and stood in the corridor doing the arithmetic.
I was going to be late for school.
Not that school was a sanctuary. It was the same pack, just with desks and a bell system. But it was time outside these walls, and that was worth something.
I could hear the pack house filling up, voices, footsteps, the particular energy of everyone moving toward the same exit at once. I went to my room, twisted my platinum blonde hair into a quick bun and hopped in the shower. Quick and efficient. I was out in minutes, pulling on my blue jeans and black tank top, lacing up my worn canvas shoes that were having a structural crisis; they weren't going to survive much longer.
New shoes, I thought, remembering the cash tucked at the bottom of my bag. His cash.
I didn't let myself linger on that. It led to other thoughts — warmer, softer, entirely counterproductive — and I had a school day to survive.
Phone. Earpiece. Bag.
I headed downstairs.
"Special occasion?" Veronica pointed out in the hallway, with the timing of someone who had been waiting. "A new boy to sleep with?"
I didn't break stride.
"Bye, Nica." I sailed past her. "Take good care of the house while I'm gone."
The noise she made followed me to the front door.
Outside, the morning air was cool, and the path to school stretched ahead, familiar, unglamorous, mine for the next twenty minutes at least.
I walked and tried not to think about what was waiting at the other end. The pack members who'd be there. The particular configurations of cruelty that school days offered, different rooms, same people, same methods, dressed up in different clothes. I knew them all by now. I knew which corridors to avoid and which silences meant danger, and when a smile from someone who never smiled at me meant I should change direction immediately.
I knew the rules of surviving this place the way I knew the rules of surviving everything else.
But something felt different this morning. A low, wordless unease that had nothing to do with Veronica or the dishes or the hour spent on my knees scrubbing someone else's bathroom floor.
Athena was quiet but not in her usual hollow way. She was alert. Coiled. Listening for something I couldn't hear yet.
What is it? I asked her silently.
She didn't answer. She never answered the things that mattered, anyway.
I kept walking, the pack house shrinking behind me, and tried to ignore the feeling settling in my chest like a stone dropping through still water.
Something was coming.
I didn't know what. I didn't know when.
I just knew that the morning felt too quiet, not peaceful, but waiting. The way everything goes still, right before it breaks.
/Eros's POV/*************Few weeks later*****************I stared at the beautiful image of my mate sprawled out on my bed under the glistening moonlight, her white hair sticking out like a thumb from the black bed covers, I peeled the blanket from her body to see her in her full glory and my flaccid cock roared back to life and stood erect.“I don't think she can go further, the past week has been so exhausting and all we've been doing was fucking and eating, our shower session includes another round of sex in different positions,” I warned my cock.“She can, we need to show her what she missed out on for three years. Don't worry she will take it like the good girl she is,” Ares encouraged, wanting nothing more than to sink his phallus in Athena's cunt, but they have had their fun all through last week it's my time.I settled on jerking off and coating her body with my seed, I looked at her mouth and imagined her thin red lips wrapped around my hardness while she gazed up at me wit
/Selene's POV/“Mom?” Eros whispered making me look in the direction where his gaze was fixated, but Alexandria was the one standing there not some other woman.“What the hell do you mean by mom? She's my godmother and she's Alexandria Roberts, the famous architect and a very good surgeon.” I argued while wiggling my ass off his arms and looking at both of them who look like they were frozen.“Can someone fucking explain what is going on here for me, I do not understand anything right now, nothing is making sense here.” I snapped, that seemed to do the trick because Ria suddenly realized that she was supposed to usher us in while Eros looked like he'd seen a ghost.“You both should have your seat.” She gestured to us while she sat on the opposite couch, I saw the accumulated tears and longing look on her face so I decided to go straight to the point and ask what the fuck was happening.“It's good to see you again godmother, but can you explain what is happening here? Because I don't u
/Selene's POV/“You will be fine, I'm sure he will come around, but in the meantime I want you to tell him that his mother is alive, she is not dead.” She dropped the bomb on me.“Wait, what do you mean by that? How do you know his mother?” I questioned.“You will find out when the both of you get here, I supposed you will be coming to pick up the kids, I love my grandchildren but I'm very sure they are tired of me with the consistent ‘I want to see mama’ they have been shouting since, sometimes Luna refuses the eat till Apollo feeds or I distract her.” She sighed dramatically making me tear up, I had partially forgotten about how badly I missed my children due to all these things that have been happening.“Yeah, as soon as Eros comes around, I would suggest we come and pick them up ourselves, then I will get to meet the big family, how is everyone doing? I forgot to ask if the rogue king's wife and daughter were returned safely to where they belonged. I'm surprised they did not also s
/Selene’s POV/“I don't know where to start from, how can I start rectifying all the problems I caused with my stubborn attitude? How do I explain to him now that those are his Kids and I've known they were his even before they were born and I still kept the fact from him?” I asked Athena.“I am itching to blame you and be bitchy about all these, but it's all in the past. You have no other choice than to explain to him and tell him nothing but the truth because he deserves that. It's better for him not to know the kids than know that they were under his nose and he was their father but he had no idea.” She retorted, my eye stung from her words but I knew she was being brutally honest because I was warned but I still followed through.“Earth to Phoebe,” Eros whispered huskily while his got breathe fanned my neck causing goosebumps to erupt and my thighs unconsciously clench together, it wasn't until I felt the friction between us and Eros hardness poking me, that I realized that we wer
/Eros’s POV/“Mate?? No that can't be.” Arielle whispered but I could sense the happiness rolling out of her skin. It’s been three days now, I’ve been getting endless calls from Selene’s godmother, but she still hasn’t woken up yet, she’s not showing any signs of waking up. I know she would not want me to slack off so I decided to continue my work from home, I just hoped she would open her eyes and wake up so I could embrace her.As for Liam and Arielle, I can see Liam is trying to understand that she just lost her mate so he’s taking baby steps with her not to overwhelm her, I thought she was going to lose her shit but the moon goddess is always one step ahead. I have never thought about their compatibility, but now that I look at them and the bond, I feel like both of them are meant to be together from the beginning.“At least, you’ve got a beta and a gamma. You can start running the pack business. Is it not the right time for you to check up on your business? Is that human assistan
/Eros’s POV/I howled painfully while looking at my mate’s limp body with her arms flailing and her legs, her white furry body had quickly morphed into olive-tanned skin and the same shade of her fur remained on her head.I howled again while Arielle looked at me pitifully, I could sense her very weak body and pulse, but I hoped she would be able to fight and pull it through, we have a lot of things to talk about and she has a lot of explanations, I'm pretty mad at her for keeping all the secrets but all that can wait till she wakes up.“She will be fine, she's a fighter. I'm sure she will put it through, after all, she's the Queen and the gamma of the Blood Moon Pack, the Luna of the Pack and the Queen of the werewolf Kingdom, the only Silver-eyed hybrid of our era. I'm sure nobody can take her position and she knows better than to leave her throne vacant.” Arielle whispered while looking at Phoebe with adoration and disbelief.“Let us get out of this place,” I commanded gruffly, feel
/Eros’s POV/I have been waiting and pacing around for Phoebe to come back, it's been almost three hours since she left and she hasn't shown up since then nor replied to my calls or messages.“You have access to the camera, you can tune in and see what's happening, I can't help but feel as if somethin
/Selene's POV/“Alexander Lucian knew if he wanted to take the throne, he must work himself into an influential position which he did by becoming the friend of the king and bringing influential and powerful people to the fold early by promising them more power.” I reasoned.“There’s more to this, I kn
/Selene’s POV/“Enough, you've revealed almost all the information.” He snarled while coming into my view and I paled immediately.“You? You’re the one behind it? The killings and all?” I stuttered while glaring at him with hatred in my bones wishing nothing else than to leap over and detach his head
/Selene’s POV/“Dead? In front of my house?” He answered with a deadly voice while looking over at me.He rushed over immediately after making me promise and assured him that I could take of myself.I was discharged two days later, so eager to know who was dumped dead in front of our house, Eros refuse
