Chapter 7. Angelina's choice

The sting on her cheek was still hot, and Axton's words left Angelina heartbroken. She had to admit to a mistake she hadn't made at all. They didn't even believe her explanation.

Apparently, that was how far Moreen could control the Almero family. Angelina wouldn't stay silent, let alone let a cheap woman like Moreen trample on her pride. She was not a stupid woman who did not know Moreen's rotten tricks.

"Alright, I'll go along with all your games, bitch!" Angelina's mind spoke.

Since Angelina was still silent, she didn't follow his orders. Axton's loud voice sounded again.

"Let's do it quickly, Angelina!" Axton was furious with Angelina.

Of course, this situation was most favorable for Moreen. He cheered inwardly because Axton defended him so fiercely. Seeing the scene of Axton slapping Angelina, Moreen was quite satisfied. And he couldn't wait for Angelina to follow Axton's orders.

"I will never kneel at his feet!" Angelina pointed at Moreen's face. "Because I've never committed a crime against anyone, and I don't know those two thugs!" With a loud voice, Angelina refused.

"Apparently, you dare to defy me, Angelina!? You will suffer the consequences!"

"That poor woman doesn't know herself. Who has given her a comfortable life all these years? Indeed, daughters-in-law don't know any better!" Evelyn replied, annoyed by Angelina's attitude which seemed haughty and did not want to obey Axton's orders.

Angelina was ganged up on by one family, but she would never let go of her pride.

"I'm not fighting you, Axton. I'm protecting myself from getting caught up in that cheap woman's game!"

"Shut your mouth, Angelina!" Axton's booming voice filled the room. The man was furious when Angelina blatantly called Moreen a whore.

"I gave you a chance, but you didn't use it well. It turns out you prefer prison!"

"Yes! I'd rather be in jail to preserve my honor as your wife than admit to a mistake I didn't make!"

Unbeknownst to them, Moreen's palms were clenched tightly at Angelina's adamant refusal to kiss his feet.

"Malic, quickly handcuff Angelina's hands and take her to the police station right now, along with those two bastards!" Axton ordered. He then invited Moreen to go to the room. He was fed up with seeing Angelina's face, which he considered that of a stubborn woman.

Because Axton wanted to hurt Angelina's feelings even more, he very sweetly lifted Moreen's slender body in front of Angelina. Then, happily, Moreen draped both hands around the man's long neck and made a mocking facial expression towards Angelina.

Although she couldn't believe Axton would treat her worse than the day before, Angelina seemed resigned, holding out both hands to Malic, who was already holding the handcuffs.

"You'll rot in jail!" taunted Evelyn as she left.

The heartbreaking incident was not only witnessed by the people in the family room; it was also witnessed by the two house assistants, Silda and Amey. They repeatedly shed tears and stroked their chests, not expecting Mr. and Mrs. Big to be so rude to Angelina.

"Would every man behave the same way if he had another woman besides his wife?" asked Amey.

"I think so," said Silda.

Both of them came out of their hiding places and went back to their rooms.

The downstairs was quiet and empty.

Inside their private room, Axton and Moreen lay on the bed, hugging each other as if afraid to be separated. He still didn't think that Angelina could be cruel to Moreen.

Axton thought that Angelina was a good and innocent woman; apparently, he didn't recognize his wife's true identity.

"Axton, would you mind seeing Angelina in a holding cell?" Moreen just wanted to make sure that the handsome man was still thinking about Angelina.

"She's guilty; she deserves to be punished!"

"I promised myself that no matter what happens, I'll stay by your side, dear."

The two exchanged warm glances.

"Even though... Angelina won't let me be happy with you," she added softly. Moreen's beautiful face became sad.

"You don't have to be afraid, dear. Angelina won't dare to bother you anymore." Axton also kissed Moreen's lips gently, trying to convince her to be calm and comfortable with him.

It's been two weeks since Angelina's routine in the detention center. Don't ask me how miserable Angelina's life is there. It feels like sadness has befriended her every day. The sadness that was felt increasingly made Angelina's tears not want to come out.

She missed the atmosphere of home, she missed the warmth and harmony of Axton's attitude towards her. As far as the man hurt her endlessly, Angelina's love did not fade at all.

What kind of heart did God give Angelina? So that she can't hate Axton too deeply. There was always room for the man in her heart.

Angelina's position was sitting dreamily, her back leaning against the wall in the cell. Her clothes were shabby with her hair tied back. Suddenly the police officer came, opened the iron bars, then asked her to come out and meet someone who wanted to talk to her.

Angelina quickly came out, she had been waiting for someone to visit her for a long time. She was sure it was her husband.
