ASHLEY

Pacing around my quarters I stood still for a second, the silence of my chambers was so certain and obvious that one would tell when a pin dropped.

Still my heart didn't find that peace that seemed to fill up the entire pack. The feeling of frustration and anxiety about the words and secrets that I was still keeping from Kael pressed on me deeply , so suffocating until I couldn’t take it anymore.

Yes, I promised myself I’d tell him. No more hiding. …No more pretending everything was fine when the truth was gnawing at my insides bit by bit.

It was the tenth time that I had tried walking to his door and had stopped myself from knocking when the sound of his laughter had filtered out of the walls.

I couldn't bring myself to ruin the moment, however one factor played in my mind and that was the fact that Kael deserved to know.

At this moment I pictured his reaction, the fire in his eyes, the storm in his voice, the way his rage could shake these walls whenever I’d tell him . I

  • Revenge of The Lycan King's Fated Mate   CHAPTER FINALE

The wind carried the scent of smoke before the first flame appeared and he could not in the distance.Logan stood at the front line, his eyes scanning the dark horizon where the fires were beginning to rise. The night was loud now with shouting and howls and feet rushing over the damp earth as they made way to where the war was.The courtyard that had once held laughter and music had turned into a ground of chaos ever since the alarm rang. He held his weapon tight, his pulse beating against his palm as the cold air stung his lungs. He could hear the cries of the guards rallying together, the howls that filled the air. But above all, he heard his own thoughts, the weight of Kael’s words, the responsibility of holding the front while his friend stayed behind to protect what they had built.Lucian’s army poured in from the gate like a flood of darkness…At one point he thought of how long they'd been there waiting. They moved with precision in their werewolf form..He knew this wasn'

LOGAN The message came in quietly, just as the noise around the courtyard began to rise I stared at it for a while with deep understanding..“Start phase two.”I read it once and then looked up. Around me everywhere was filled with murmurs after everything that had happened. The broken glass was still there on the floor with voices asking questions no one could answer. Edrin had just been carried out a few minutes ago, his face pale and twisted from the poison that he took. The guards were confused, and the guests were restless. Exactly how we wanted it…I turned slightly to where Lorna stood near the table, her hands trembling around her empty glass like she was waiting for a kind of order. When our eyes met, I gave her a small nod. She moved closer, quiet but quick, her expression changed as she walked to where I was. “Now?” she whispered almost too softly for me to hear.“Now,” I said with my firm voice. She asked no further questions but nodded once as she wiped her hands on

KAEL The knock I gave that morning wasn’t just to wake him. It was to make sure we were still on the same side of things and are still standing on the same ground. When Logan opened the door, the look on his face said everything before he even spoke. He looked tired but kept a smile on his face that told me everything was fine, it was àlmost like he’d spent the whole night thinking about what to do next.“Come in,” he said.I stepped in, closing the door behind me. The room smelled faintly of the night before, I looked around at the discarded clothes around and could tell what had happened.“Long night huh." I teased. He smiles sheepishly. "Let's get to business.”" Where is she?” I asked.Lorna was nowhere in sight, but I could tell she had just left. Her scent lingered in the air.“She stepped out to give us some privacy." I looked around and could see the door to her balcony opened.“You need to hear this,” Logan said, his tone low, controlled. “It’s about Lucian and Edrin …i

LOGAN I found her on the third stair almost as though she had been waiting for me “Logan,” she said as we hugged each other.“Come here,” I said instead. “Sit.”She looked up at my face and as she did something hinted at the fact that she had a lot that she wanted to say.“You got into a fight with Kael?" She blurted out.The fact that she hinted at it being Kael gave me the leverage I was looking for to break the ice.“Yes I got into a fight but not with him ... .Why do you think it is him though.” I asked.Lorna’s eyes found mine then, wet and glossy with something like guilt. “There is something I have to tell you. ““What does it say!” I demanded. My hand tightened unconsciously on hers. She bit her lip “I saw him,” Lorna said quickly, as if speeding the confession would make it less true.Even if I knew who it was I played along just as he had told me to. “Who did you see?" I asked just to be sure.“Lucian." “What!" I exclaimed. It was another act to pretend that I knew nothin

KAEL I exhaled sharply but followed him anyway to wherever would be safe enough for him to speak. I didn't care where it was, all I wanted was the truth. He led me around the far end of the fence, toward the back of the old quarters that hadn’t been used in years. The air there felt heavier, the wind whistling between us as we walked. “Is it really that serious?" I couldn't help asking after a while. “I Just want to be careful…” he muttered. Finally we stopped walking and stood there at a spot. For a long moment, I just stood there with him watching him and listening. When we stopped, he turned to me, his face pale in the dim light.Well at this point in time all I wanted was the truth-I could see his face shadowed with words he was yet to say.His eyes kept darting around as we shared that little space. For me I couldn't wait for him to start speaking. He said that he had a lot to say and at this point I couldn't help the curiosity that I was feeling. “Speak,” I said fin

KAEL I had been trying to reach Logan for hours and it was difficult at that moment to reach him.I wasn't exactly worried but more like angry with how long it was taking. The call kept ringing, each one cutting off before it could even connect. The silence on the other end only made my anger grow heavier as I sat there with the phone still in my hand, staring at the screen, wondering if I was being too paranoid or if my gut was right all along.Could this just be the way of life telling me that he was a cheat and betrayal just as I was thinking.Come to think of it, he had been acting strange lately and almost jumpy whenever I asked simple questions. I didn’t want to believe it, but every part of me kept whispering the same thing: something wasn’t right.I stood up, running a hand through my hair as the tension in my chest built up again. Maybe I was tired of waiting for answers. Maybe I just needed to see things for myself. So I left the office making way to the wing where he st
