Chapter 2
Cora's POV As he took each step towards me, the expression on his face changed. From disbelief. To Contempt. And then to disgust. "The moon goddess must be mistaken!" He growled, "You? You’re my mate?" My heart pounded so hard in my chest I could barely breathe. I couldn’t speak. Couldn't move. "You’re the slut from the club. The one I used and discarded. And now the Moon Goddess wants me to be with you?” He scoffed. “No. I reject this." "No…" I whispered, my voice trembling. "You can’t. I’m… I'm pregnant with your pup." He let out a mocking laugh. Everyone was looking at us. "Just one night and now you’re pregnant?” He scoffed. “How convenient!” "I’m not lying. I’m carrying your pup." "A whore like you, who opens their leg for no matter whatever strangers.” He spat. “How am I supposed to believe that pup’s even mine?" I was devastated, I wanted to tell him that I’m not a whore, I also hope the night never happened. But the words stuck in my throat when I saw the look on his face and all I could say was "It's yours. I swear it's yours." "Abort it," he snapped. "What?” "I said get rid of it!” I stared at him in shock. Still trying to understand the words he had just spoken. "But it’s our child…” "Then it’s none of my damn business." "Enough!" Alpha Tobias's voice thundered through the hall. Everyone fell silent as he stepped forward. “What is going on here?” He demanded. I opened my mouth to talk, but no words came out. I just stared at my new mate. The man who was so eager to get rid of me. “Father…” he muttered, turning his direction to the Alpha. My breath caught in my throat and I gasped. Father? That meant only one thing. This man here was no other person than Kieran. The Alpha's only son. And the next in line Alpha of the pack. I'd never laid my eyes on him all my life because I was never opportuned to step foot into the Alpha's mansion. "This whore here is just trying to pin a pregnancy on me. It's nothing serious." He said. From the crowd, I saw my father step forward. “Alpha Tobias,” He said quickly, bowing his head, “Kieran.” He turned his gaze between them, with a forced smile on his face. “Please understand that none of this was meant to bring shame and dishonour to you or your son. I had no idea this matter involved him. If I had known, I would have handled things differently. Please have mercy on my daughter. She's stupid and useless. I’m sure there are other ways to solve the matter.” Kieran turned to look at my father. And then to me. The disgust on his face deepened. "So this is your father?” I nodded slowly. He chuckled bitterly. "No wonder..." He turned to Alpha Tobias. "Father… isn’t this the former head warrior, Adam, who failed to protect my mother?” Alpha Tobias didn’t respond. The look on his face told me everything I needed to know. My heart sank. It was true. So the rumours were true… about how my father failed to protect Luna Evangeline when she was suddenly attacked by gunmen many years ago outside the pack borders. She had been on her way to a dinner party when the attack happened. Father and two other warriors were escorting her at the time. In the attack, both warriors and Luna Evangeline were killed, but my father survived, bearing only a few injuries on his body. And ever since then, the rumour had circulated that he had orchestrated her death. Because he was the only one who made it out alive. "The murderer’s blood lives on..." Kieran mocked with disdain, glaring at me like I was poison. "I will never take her as my mate! That thing inside of her isn't mine. She's not only a whore, she's also the daughter of a murderer!" “No… It's yours. I swear.” I pleaded, falling to my knees. No one was on my side. Even my father. This was the best I could do for them to believe me. Alpha Tobias turned to me. "If you’re lying," he said coldly. "You’ll be executed by dawn." "I swear by the Moon Goddess." I whispered, holding my stomach protectively. He turned to his son. The look on his face showed how disappointed he was with him. "You’ve disappointed me, Kieran. And you know actions have consequences." "Father—" "Silence!" Alpha Tobias snapped. "She’s your mate. She’s carrying your child. You will marry her. Now!" "No!" Kieran growled. "Alpha. I agree with you.” My father said, staring at me with disdain. "No! Dad please…" I cried, crawling to him and holding him by his shirt, but father yanked my hands off of him until I lost my balance and fell to the ground shamefully. "Shut up!" he snapped and turned to the Alpha. “She has no choice. She will marry him." I bit my lips, trying so hard not to cry. I didn't want this. I didn't want to be forced into a marriage like my mother was. Kieran would hate me, and he’d hate our baby. That was exactly what happened before. My father hated my mother, and he hated me. I had seen what hatred could do and I didn’t want that to happen again. But from the look of things… I had no other choice. I'd have to try my best to make Kieran love me and the baby. Maybe…. if I marry him, he would change. Mother died the moment I was born, so she never had the chance to change Father. Maybe once the baby is born, once he sees it's really his. He would soften. He wouldn't hate us anymore. He would look at me differently. He would learn to love the baby and me. "Then it is settled." Alpha Tobias announced. He turned to the crowd. "Someone call the pack priest. A wedding is about to begin now." Before I could say a word, Kieran stormed towards me angrily and grabbed my waist roughly. The look on his face showed nothing but hatred and disgust for me. "You've finally gotten what you want, huh?" He hissed. "This marriage means nothing. You are nothing. And I promise to make your life a living hell." And he did. --- Living with Kieran was pure hell. From the moment we stepped into his house, he made it clear that I meant nothing to him. The very next morning after our forced marriage, he brought his lover, Lyra, into the house. She was everything that I wasn't. She was very beautiful, confident and was adored by the pack members. She was the daughter of the pack’s head warrior and she had no problem flaunting her closeness to Kieran in front of me. They lived like mates and did all sorts of things only mates should do. It was clear that he loved her and not me. As my pregnancy grew, so also Kieran’s hatred for me. One night, he came home drunk. "You whore!" he roared. "You've ruined my life!" "I didn’t–" I tried to explain, but he grabbed my arm and pushed me hard against the wall. I fell directly on my stomach with a loud thud. "The baby…" I gasped, holding my stomach tightly. Then suddenly, I felt warm sticky liquid pouring between my thighs. Blood. "Kieran! Please, help me!" I cried, reaching for him. But he yanked my hand away and walked out. --- That night, he gave the order. His guards dragged me into the woods and dumped me in front of three grinning rogues. “Finish her. “ One of the guards tossed a pouch of coins to the rogues. “Leave no trace behind." The rogues grinned and the guards left. "Let’s have some fun with her before we kill her off." One of the rogues suggested as he reached for me. I struggled to fight but their grip on me was tight. They hit me. Slapped me. Kicked me. Laughed while I cried. But I didn't give up. I had to survive. For my baby. For revenge. The rogue leaned over me, his hands grabbing my clothes. And just as he was about to tear them off–—a voice, loud and commanding, filled the air. "All of you. Kneel!" The rogues froze. "Shit! It's him!” One whispered. A figure stepped out from the trees. He was tall. Powerful. Dangerous. I couldn’t see his face but I felt him. The rogues began to shake. “W-We were just––” one of them stammered, his voice cracking. “About to rape her?” The man cut in. His tone sounded cold and deadly. "N-No... we... we didn’t mean to––" He chuckled. Then with a snap of his fingers, warriors stepped out from the trees. They were all armed. "Slaughter them." He ordered. "And bring me their heads." "Yes. Head Warrior!" the warriors shouted in unison. The rogues couldn't survive. And within seconds, they were all dead. The man walked toward me. His strong arms gently lifted my body from the ground. His voice was soft as he stared at me. "You’re safe now, Omega." And then, everything faded to black.CHAPTER 93 (Fifteen hours before Alpha Tobias’s death)Alpha Tobias sat behind his desk. His hands rested on an old leather file. He looked up when the door creáked open.“Alpha Tobias‚” a soft voice said.An old man walked in. His beard was grey‚ ánd his face was wrinkled.“Hey‚” Tobias said. “It’s been a long time.”“Yes Alpha.”Tobias pointed to the chair ácross from him. “Sit. Why are you here after all these years?”The old man sat down. His hánds were shaking slightly ás he pulled out a folded note from his coat pocket.“I came to tell you the truth‚” the old man sáid. “The truth about your late wife‚ Evangeline.”Tobias’s eyes turned cold. “Don’t mention her name.”“I know. But I can’t keep quiet anymore. I was afraid. That’s why I didn’t speak before.”“Go on‚” Tobias said. The old man took a deep breath. “The night Luna Evangeline died... it wasn’t Adam’s fault.”Tobias frowned‚ his voice low. “What?”“Adam didn’t remove the warriors from patrol. He didn’t betray you. He did
CHAPTER 92CORA'S POVIt was the sound of Kaden’s phone buzzing that woke us up. I groaned and buried my face in his bare chest while He reached out with one hand. His voice still heavy with sleep.“Hello?”There was a pause. Then His whole body tensed.“What is it?” I asked as I sat up up slowly.Kaden was already sitting upright while He rubbed His face. “It’s Ronan. He said... the servant who poisoned my father has been caught.”My heart skipped. “What?!”He stood up from the bed immediately. “We have to go. Now.”We dressed as fast as we could. I grabbed a jacket , not even bothering to fix my messy hair. Kaden looked tense as He threw on a shirt and jeans. His jaw was tight. The car ride to the pack dungeon was silent well except for my heart pounding in my ears. When we arrived‚ Ronan was waiting outside with two guards. He nodded as soon as He saw us.“She’s in there" he said. “Tied. Refused to speak. But... she’s scared.”Kaden didn’t say a word. He just pushed the door open a
CHAPTER 91CORA'S POVHis mouth was like fire.Every of his kiss was like he was trying to brand me. Like he was trying to mark me. Not just as his But as someone he needed. Desperately needed. And Goddess. I needed him just as bad. The way He looked at me felt like I was something precious and as if I was dangerous too. My Heart was pounding. My skin was burning. His hands slid down my sides slowly as if He was trying to memorize me. Goosebumps rose all over me.He kissed my neck. Dragged his lips along my throat. Then lower. His mouth found my collarbone. He sucked gently while I arched toward him.“You feel so damn good” He muttered hungrily.I could barely breathe. My fingers dug into His hair while he moved down. His tongue left a wet trail across my Chest. I whimpered as his mouth found my Nipple. He took it between His lips and sucked it hard. I gasped out loud.“Kaden...”He groaned. He lifted His head and looked at me. His eyes were dark and filled with intense hunger For me.
CHAPTER 90 CORA'S POVI was curled up on the couch in the living room‚ reading a book when I heard the front door open and close quietly. My heart did a little flip as if it already knew who it was. Kaden. And then‚ just like that... he was behind me.His warm arms was wrapped around my waist, pulling me up gently and against his Firm chest, making my breath catch. I felt the softest Kiss press at the back of my neck making me shiver.“You’re home” I whispered‚ smiling as I tilted my head to look at him.His face broke into that stupidly handsome grin—the one that always made my heart flutter. There was something different about him as he came back. He looked… happy. Genuinely happy. It made my chest bloom with a quiet‚ aching tenderness.“Hi baby..." he murmured as he pressed a kiss to my temple.I turned in His arms to face him as I wrapped mine around his neck. “Okay you need to tell me what’s going on. You’re smiling like you just inherited a kingdom or something.”He chuckled
CHAPTER 89 KADEN'S POVWhen I arrived at my father’s mansion, Kieran was already there. He was seated stiffly on one of the long wooden chairs‚ his back was straight and his jaw was tight—as if he was trying not to lose control.Three of the pack elders were standing at a corner in the room‚ murmuring quietly to one another. And seated in the center was Mr. Maddox. He was the pack’s lawyer. He looked just like I remembered. His eyes were watching everything‚ making it feel like he already knew what was about to happen. When I stepped inside‚ everywhere became quiet.“Kaden” Elder Silas called. “How are you holding up?”I took a breath. “As well as anyone who just buried their father could be.”Mr. Maddox gave me a small smile. “I'm happy to see you again Kaden. Your father was proud of you. Even after all these years. He never stopped believing you would come back to him.”Kieran scoffed.I looked at him but I said nothing.“Let us begin" Mr. Maddox said. He opened his briefcase and
CHAPTER 88 CORA’S POV"Kaden?" I mumbled as I opened my eyes. The space beside me was empty but the bed was still warm yet he was gone. "Kaden?" I called again; this time louder. I looked around the room to find him. Just as I sat up and pulled the blanket to my chest; The bathroom door opened. He walked out with a towel wrapped around His waist. Droplets of Water was still evident on his skin. His hair was wet and was stuck to his forehead. In general; He looked like sin."Good morning baby" he said with a smile on his handsome face. "Good morning" I whispered. He came to me and Kissed me softly on the lips.I lifted my hand to touch his face but He pulled away and went to the dresser."Are you going somewhere..?" I asked. I tried not to sound worried. He nodded while pulling on his pants. "The council called me. It’s about my father. The burial and what happens next."I bit my lip. "Do you feel ready?"He paused and looked at me. "No. But I have to go."I felt sad. "If you need
CHAPTER 87 CORA'S POV Later that night, I felt Kaden's hand slip inside His oversized shirt I was wearing. His palm cupped my breast while His fingers massaged my nipple until it hardened. Then his hand moved lower and lower and lower until it went straight to that aching bundle of nerves that was desperately aching for his touch. He pressed his thumb down with perfect pressure and moved in slow, deliberate circles. I gasped. My back arched but I didn’t open my eyes. I pretended to be asleep. Not because I wanted Him to stop but because I wanted him to continue. "Cora... baby, are you awake?" He whispered as His thumb rubbed my Clit. I nodded as I moaned softly. "Good." He said while his other hand returned to my chest. He kissed my shoulder. My back. My spine. Each of his touch gentle but also desperate. He lifted my leg slightly and positioned himself behind me and then slowly slid his Cock into me. I gasped as my Fingers held the sheets tightly. He held my waist firmly whi
CHAPTER 86 CORA'S POV His lips were rough on my skin. Very Desperate and Hungry like he needed to touch me to remind himself he was still alive. Like he was scared everything had already fallen apart. "Kaden..." I whispered. My voice was soft. My fingers went in his hair. I pulled him closer; not because he was falling But because I was. He kissed me. Hard. It stole the air From my lungs. It wasn't gentle. It wasn't sweet. It was fire and pain and grief wrapped in need. He didn't want to talk. He didn't want comfort. He wanted me. He wanted to lose himself in me. And I let him. We pulled off our clothes without thinking. Kissing. Touching. Our hands shook. Our breathing was uneven. His fingers pulled my top off. His mouth went straight to my breast. His tongue circled my nipple. I gasped and pushed into Him. My hands moved over his body. I felt the lines of his chest. The muscles in his stomach. The slight shake in his arms. He was holding on by a thread and it was like
CHAPTER 84 CORA’S POV The whole pack was in mourning. It felt like the moon had gone dark and left us all in sadness. The Alpha was gone. Killed. Poisoned. Buried deep in the royal grounds next to his wife Luna Evangeline. Everyone cried but no one hurt more than Kaden. He didn’t cry in front of anyone but I knew. I saw it. The way he stared at the grave. The way his hands shook. The way he didn’t speak one word that whole day. He was not okay. Not at all. As soon as we got home He went to his room and locked the door. He didn’t come out. Not once. Not for me. Not for Selene. Not even for Ronan. The first day I waited. I thought maybe he just needed time. But by the second day I started to worry. He still didn’t come out. He didn’t eat. The Food stayed there on the floor untouched. By the third day I had ENOUGH. “Kaden OPEN THIS DOOR” I yelled. I banged so hard my fists went numb. My voice cracked. “Please. ENOUGH is ENOUGH.” He didn’t answer. “KADEN I SWEAR IF
