Alcandar’s POV

I was seated on the couch in our room with my fingers tracing absentminded patterns on the armrest, I glanced at my beautiful wife, Sapphire, and sensed the weight of worry that had settled upon her shoulders. Even though she threw herself into her work, it was obvious that James' menacing presence had cast a shadow over our happiness, and it pained me to see her worried. I had assured her of her safety and our love but she is still not back to her usual self.

I knew I had to do something and to take an action that would make her feel safe. I walked to her and hugged her from behind, sending kisses to her neck. "Love, I've been thinking," I began, my voice steady yet filled with earnestness.

She looked up, her eyes searching mine, a mixture of curiosity and apprehension in her gaze. "What is it?" she asked, her voice tinged with a hint of vulnerability.
