Kelly's pov

My phone pinged.

Trending

"Omg"

"Kelly, what is it?" Adrian asked, voice strained.

I clicked the link.

The video started playing. Thomas appeared, then Natalia. Their naked bodies, their laughing, and Natalia saying:

“She’s our cash cow”

The camera panned over to the aisle then to me whilst holding the mic. 3 slaps.

Viewers: 412,000

"They filmed us," I whispered.

He said nothing.

I scrolled down. My eyes widened.

Who is this queen?

Slap her again!

She was so confident with the mic like a CEO I’m obsessed!

Wait, who’s the guy in the black suit?

The bodyguards are much though.

I looked up and caught him staring.

"Adrian?"

"Yes."

"Are you okay? You look pale."

"Ahem. I’m fine."

"But you’re in the video."

"You look amazing."

"Wh…what?" He blinked.

I turned the screen towards him. "Look. There’s a comment that says ‘Cannot due to the husband's height’. And it has 15k likes."

His jaw tightened. "Delete it."

"No, it’s online. Don’t worry. No one knows who you are. Plus half of them think the bodyguards were extras, so you’ll be fine."

His shoulders relaxed.

And I noticed a sigh of relief from him.

"Plus you didn’t do anything wrong. You helped me. Natalia should be the one panicking."

I scrolled.

She blew up.

#NataliaExposed

What agency signed this girl? ?

How amazing to steal your friend's money AND her man.

My chest tightened.

But I shouldn’t feel sorry for her.

I closed the screen. "We should go."

 I said.

He stretched his hand to lead the way and I followed.

We were silent on the way to my apartment.

Adrian was in the back of his ‘friends’ car. The driver was focused on the road and driving, hands white with tension.

I leaned my head against the window.

"Do you think I was too harsh?" I asked.

"No."

"I just wanted them to feel how I felt."

"They did."

"I know but now the whole country knows. It feels cruel, doesn’t it?" I exhaled shakily.

He turned to me. "Kelly. They planned to use you for years. They laughed about it. The only reason it feels cruel is that you’re a good person."

I stared.

He really was good at saying the right things.

"Thanks."

He looked away. "No problem."

We arrived at my building.

He walked me to the door. I turned to face him. I suddenly became aware of how close we were.

"Would you like to come in? I can make you some coffee."

He blinked. For a moment I thought he would.

"I’ve got an early morning."

"Oh. Of course."

"Make sure you lock your door."

"I always do."

"Just make sure."

I smiled. "Yes sir."

He hesitated.

Sir.

For some reason, he looked like I said something weird.

"Goodnight Kelly."

"Goodnight Adrian."

I watched him walk back to the car. When he got there the driver got out and opened the door.

I frowned.

Opened.

He gave a slight bow.

But before I could get any more information Adrian got in the car and they drove off.

I stood there for a while.

Then shook my head and walked up the stairs.

Lying on my bed and staring into the room,

I couldn’t sleep.

So I did what no brokenhearted woman should do at midnight. I opened social media.

The video had exploded. 2 million views.

3 Fashion bloggers had already made reaction videos. 2 gossip pages had found old pictures. And the hashtag had blown up to number one.

But then I saw the post. My fingers went numb.

Starlight Models Officially Terminates Contract With Natalia.

"After much consideration, we have decided to no longer work with Ms. Natalia. We do not support actions that do not correlate with our brand values."

I read it again.

She only worked there for 3 months. I got her in with the director. I promised that he would look after her.

I felt weird. Not happy, not guilty.

Just... empty.

"She did this to herself," I whispered.

I locked my phone and finally fell asleep.

The next morning my phone buzzed before my alarm.

"MIA! Have you checked the internet?" She was my ex-assistant at the branch.

I groaned. "No."

"It’s gone!"

"What?!" I sat up.

"It’s all gone. The original post, the reposts and the reaction videos."

I grabbed my phone. I opened the app. She was right. The hashtag was gone. The pages that posted clips were blank. Even the gossip blogs had taken them down.

As if the wedding never happened.

"How?!" I whispered. "Two million people saw it."I don’t know. Some people are saying they paid a lot of money to make it go away."

A chill ran down my spine.

"Who?"

"I don’t know but guess what? Natalia posted something an hour ago."

I opened up her page.

She had a smiley picture.

She was standing in front of a glass building wearing a cream suit. Her chin was high and she looked as if nothing had happened. Behind her there was a banner which said NATALIA LUXE – Now Launching.

Caption:

They tried to break me but I have someone powerful looking over me. 🖤

My hands began to shake.

Her agency had cut her off last night.

But this morning, she had a whole company.

Someone had taken the biggest scandal in the city and wiped it away in one night.

And they were standing behind the woman who had betrayed me.

Kelly's POVAfter the call with Adrian, I lay awake for hours. He had sounded afraid, and that frightened me more than Damien's card. But the next morning, I replied to Damien anyway: Café Orsay, three o'clock.I told myself I was only going to find out what he wanted. That was a lie. Adrian had said not to go, and I was going anyway. The café sat on a quiet corner, away from the office. I arrived ten minutes early to choose my seat. A table near the window. Back to the wall. Exit in sight.Damien Sterling arrived exactly on time.He wore a navy suit and no tie, and when he smiled, the whole café seemed to turn toward him. A waiter hurried over before he even sat down."The usual, sir?""Not today. My guest decides." He looked at me. "Though I have a guess.""Go ahead.""Black coffee. No sugar. You do not trust anything that hides the taste."I stared at him. "Did you read my file?""I read your interviews. You said it in a business magazine last year." He sat down. "Was I right?""Ye

Adrian's POVSomebody was paying Thomas Bennett to ruin my wife's life.I read the bank record twice, and my hands went cold.Three deposits in four days. Each one was small, and none of them would catch a bank's attention. But together they told a clear story. The money came from an offshore account, the same kind Jonah had traced behind Natalia's company."It is the same pattern, sir," Jonah said. He stood in front of my desk with a tablet in his hands. "Different names, same structure. Whoever pays Natalia also pays Thomas."I leaned back in my chair. "Then it is one person.""That is my guess.""But you cannot prove it.""Not yet. The trail stops at a shell company in the Cayman Islands. After that, nothing."I pressed my fingers against my forehead. A headache had been building behind my eyes since morning."What does Thomas do for this money?""Nothing yet, as far as I can see. He is not working. He spends it on food, and a cheap phone.""A phone.""Yes, sir. We checked his call

Kelly's POVI listened to Thomas's voicemail four times before I deleted it.His voice sounded softer than I remembered. Warm and sorry, like the man who used to bring me tea when I worked late. That was the worst part. For two years, I had believed that voice.I know where you live. I'll wait until you're ready.I put the phone face down on the table. My hand was still shaking. I took a deep breath, finished half a cup of coffee, and went to work.Ava was already at her desk when I arrived.Early. Dressed in a neat gray skirt. Hair tied back. Three folders sat beside her keyboard, in the correct order.I stopped at the door. "Did someone kidnap you and replace you?"She grinned. "I stayed up reading.""Reading what?""The training manual you gave me. And your old branch reports. I wanted to understand how you think."I raised an eyebrow. "And?""You write your summary on the first page and put the details at the back. So nobody has to dig for the main point." She lifted a sheet of pa

Adrian's POVI was standing in the doorway.Thomas had not moved. He was still staring at the grey curtain. But he was slumped. One hand was rubbing the base of his neck.Three weeks ago he had been standing at an altar looking perfectly put together. Smiling like he owned the world. Now he looked lost.I stepped out of the shadows."She's asleep."Thomas jumped so hard he nearly dropped his phone. He turned around. His face showed fear, surprise, and something darker."You.""I know.""What are you doing here?""I could ask you the same question.""This isn't any of your business." His voice cracked slightly. "She's my fiancée.""She was.""She's...""I married her. In front of two hundred people. You were there!"His jaw tightened. And for a second he looked like he was going to punch me. But then he looked me up and down. My simple shirt and old watch. And he let out a laugh."I knew it.""You knew what?""You aren't rich. I know you've got bodyguards and nice cars, but I just coul

Adrian's POVMy phone buzzed at exactly 6 pmKelly: I'm cooking tonight! Come over please! Don't say you're busy!I was currently in a meeting with the legal department.I glanced at my phone. Then at the lawyer."Cancel the rest."Jonah, who was standing by the door, merely sighed and pulled out his tablet."Sir, your car?""No. I will get a taxi.""A taxi?""Kelly thinks my driver is a friend. If I come in a car that costs more than her building she'll question me.""Ok sir."I rubbed my temples.I had never lost any sleep over running a billion-dollar company for years now. But now I was losing sleep over a girl who thinks I do paperwork. Her apartment was on the fourth floor of a quiet block. No lift.I climbed the stairs slowly, holding my bag of fruit that I had bought from a street vendor. I wasn't sure if I had done it right. I had given the shopkeeper my notes and he stared at them for ages before giving me too much change. Finally at her door.I knocked. The door opened. She

Kelly P. O.V.I walked into Hawthorne Global Group on Monday morning, and the whole floor fell silent. All of the eyes were on me.I fixed my blazer and continued to walk towards the elevator which opened to the executive floor. A young lady behind the front desk shot up."Good morning Ms. Williams!""Good morning."She would have had no idea who I was three weeks ago.I walked into my new office, which was at the end of the corridor. It had glass walls, a leather chair, and a view of the whole city. I dropped my bag onto the desk.Managing Director.I have worked for this position for the past eight years. All the late nights, weekends, and projects that nobody wanted. There was a knock on the door."Come in."The HR director, Mrs Collins, and a girl walked in.A very young girl.
