VIOLET

There weren’t a lot that could get on my nerves. However, the time I’d spent in Dark Moon had proven pretty well that it wasn’t always the case. At least not with Lucian.

He was like a thorn in my side that just wouldn’t budge no matter how hard I fretted or tried to get him away. Was he doing it on purpose? I wasn’t so sure.

I had a goal in mind and losing focus was the last thing to do. Especially seeing how far I’d managed to come despite everything.

“Your posture needs more work.”

Reese’s words did little to reduce the crease in my forehead. She’d suggested we work on my fighting skills so I could better protect myself and seem worthy in the eyes of the pack members.

Strenuous as it’s been, I wasn’t particularly opposed to any of it. If anything, I was immensely grateful for the opportunity.

“Come on,” I wiped a sheen of sweat off my brow. “One more time.”

For a split second, her lips curved into a smirk. Then she aimed a kick at my head. I winced a little as her leg hit my

Lucian’s POV“Tell me all I need to know. Tristan’s weaknesses and any other loopholes of West Creak that can be exploited.” I went straight to the point just as Violet took her seat.I’d chosen the quiet and privacy of my office to conduct what we were about to do. The walls had ears, and I wasn’t about to risk anything.Violet’s face was devoid of any emotion whatsoever, making it hard to decipher what her thoughts might be. It was something that struck me as odd. I’d chalked my ability to easily read people and what their thoughts might be to years of experience in dealing with people. This…this was intriguing.“If you’re planning on attacking Tristan, you have to be methodological.” Violet explained. “All your plans have to be precise and without any flaws whatsoever.”I scoffed. “You say that like he’s infallible.”“In a way he is.” Violet’s eyes never wavered as she said that. “Every single person in West Creak sees him as a god of some sort, the embodiment of perfection itself.

LUCIANViolet wasn’t the first woman I’d have an encounter with. I’d already met plenty of women throughout my life. Some of them playing hard to get, the others all too eager to throw themselves on to me.As soon as I slammed the door shut behind me, a small breath left my lips. She was determined and had that fire of defiance in her eyes. I wanted to quench it in the coldest way possible. Violet saw herself as some spitfire who would get what she wanted. Poor thing. The sound of my ringtone broke my chain of thoughts. My brows furrowed when I saw the caller on the line.“All these years and you think to finally call me now.”The man chuckled. “And yet you sound so excited to hear my voice.”I clicked my tongue in annoyance. “What do you want?”“Oh calm down, Lucian. Now’s not the time to get all worked up.”“I could do a good work on that ugly mess of a face you have. You’d need it.” I retorted.“Bite back and try to be all snarky if you want.” The man paused. “You know why I’m call

VIOLETSunlight trickled out of the small corners left by the curtain. Getting my body to sit up was one task, keeping my eye lids open was another.I looked around, taking in the whole orientation of my room. This was something I would have to get used to, accepting that this was indeed all mine.My room.I turned my head to the side, noting the small outline noting that someone had indeed slept there before.Had Lucian left early? What time did he get up? I chalked his reason for waking up so early to having Alpha duties he needed to attend to.Not like it had to be my problem either. I had pressing issues that needed attending to. It had been quite some time since I ran away from West Creak. What, three weeks? Two since I officially got crowned Luna of the pack. Now that I was settled in—well, more or less—I had to focus on my main reason for coming here. Getting rid of Tristan and taking down West Creak for all.Call it shallow or petty but I was a woman with a grudge. West Creak

SIENNA“Is everything ready?”I couldn’t stop smoothing down the invisible lines on my dress. I needed everything to go as well as it could. Nothing could go wrong. There could be absolutely no mistakes.“Yes,” Hunter, the beta of the pack, answered Tristan’s question. Tristan nodded, adjusting his own tie a little.“They’re all waiting for you to come and address them,” Hunter finished.“Alright then. Their Alpha will grace them with his presence soon enough,” Tristan chuckled to himself.Hunter chuckled at that before letting out a breath. “I’ll be heading inside now.”With that, he opened the door and entered the hall, shutting it behind him. I silently wished he would stay here and continue with his jokes. At least it would distract me from the thought of all that would be going on. It was hilarious that I was even worried about something like this. Laughable even.“Are you ready for this?” Tristan asked, turning to look at me.I was dressed in a black gown that hugged my curves.

TRISTANThings were definitely not going the way I wanted, and it was getting to me with each passing second. It felt like I was slowly losing my mind. I wanted to throw something so bad—probably at someone too.“No, no, no. No!” I flung the papers to the side and let out a sigh.I could feel an incoming migraine with how much stress I’d been through that morning already. I knew my nerves were fraying with each day. There was some sort of tension in the pack. As much as most members of the pack had been elated when I rejected Violet, there was still the problem of me having a mate and, by extension, a Luna for the West Creak Pack.I needed to do something about this before things started getting out of my control. I began to massage the sides of my head. This was all getting too much. I needed a break. With a sigh, I got up from my desk and made my way out of my office.I started heading to my room, ignoring the greetings of the people who passed me. All I wanted then was to be alone

LUCIAN“I want to sleep so bad.”A long sigh left my lips as I leaned further into my seat. Documents were splayed all over my table like some kind of display. I didn’t know how long I’d been working, but judging by how dark it was outside, I’d say I’d been at it for hours on end.I felt beat from a long day of doing pack work. My main concern had been the issue brought to me by Falco. The rogue problem wasn’t something I could take lightly. It was something that could possibly cause mass panic. That was one thing I didn’t want.Maintaining a sense of peace and security was something I’d always strived to do in the pack. I didn’t want anything getting in the way of that. Not some dirty rogues who refused to cooperate, and not the sinister thought lurking behind their odd movements.I glanced at the clock on the wall. I figured I had worked long enough. I set the documents aside and got up from the seat. After stretching a little, I made my way outside the room and began my walk up the

VIOLETI felt like my heart had just stopped upon hearing those words. The girl was still looking at me with a certain glint in her eyes. Almost like she knew something she didn’t want to say. I willed myself to stay calm. There was no way this girl knew who I really was. She was probably just saying that. There was really no reason to panic.“I don’t understand what you mean by that,” I tried to laugh it off.“You don’t need to pretend. It all looks pretty forced,” she said, her voice blank.I watched as the girl’s blank expression slowly morphed into something unnerving. The girl was more or less creeping me out with what she was doing. I needed to leave. I felt like running away and not looking back for any reason.“I really don’t know what you mean. Please excuse me,” I slowly turned away, about to leave. The girl grabbed my arm, forcing me to stop in my tracks.“Violet. Don’t you want to hear what I have to say?” the girl continued, her smile growing by the second. When I didn’t

VIOLET“But I’m telling you, water can technically be seen as wet,” Reese argued, her hands on her hips.I let out a sigh as I looked at Reese with an incredulous expression. We’d been going back and forth about whether or not water was wet as we got ready for the day. It was safe to say that Reese wasn’t the kind of person who liked losing an argument.“Whatever you say,” I sighed.I looked at my outfit once more in the mirror, satisfied with what I had on. Reese had been helping me work on my makeup skills, and I was impressed by how far I’d come. I’d put on light makeup for the day.Reese got up from the bed and began making her way after me. I opened the door and shut it behind us. We began making our way downstairs as I prepped my mind for what I had to do. I was the Luna now, which meant there were certain responsibilities and duties expected of me.Today, we’d be going to the main estate to have a general meeting with the women of the pack. I felt I needed to be more involved a
