VIOLET
“Fuck my life.”
I cursed underneath my breath, scrambling to my feet. If it was truly rogues, then staying there would spell my doom. I didn’t waste any time and began running in the opposite direction from the howls.
The cold wind whipped past my face but I didn’t care all too much. All that mattered to me was escaping from them with my life. That was all that was important to me. That was all I cared about. That was all I wanted.
My legs ached with each step I took but I knew I couldn’t dare slow down my pace. Any false step would mean my death. I’d suffered and endured so much these past few days. I couldn’t let it all end here. My fingers were clinging hard onto my bag as I sought to quicken my pace.
My heart began thumping faster as the howls began getting closer. They’d taken notice of me. It would be better if I could transform now and run but it would only slow me down and give them an advantage over me.
I could hear the sound of their growls getting closer and closer. The thud of their feet hitting the ground filled my ears. They were right behind me and I could feel the bloodlust emanating from there. They were definitely after my blood.
I increased my speed and began running faster, picking up the pace as best as I could. I was so engulfed in getting away from them, I didn’t bother taking note of where I was running to. All I could think of was getting away from them.
After some time of running, I noticed I couldn’t hear the sound of their growls. There were no thuds coming from behind me. I slowed down to a stop and looked behind me. They were gone.
“Fucking idiots.” I clicked my tongue, trying to catch my breath.
My chest hurt so bad from running so fast. On the bright side, at least I had managed to escape them. I still didn’t understand why they’d stopped chasing me all of a sudden. Rogues were known to chase down their prey to the ends of the earth.
I pushed away the weird feeling gnawing at my chest and tightened my grip on the bag. I had no idea where I was at all. Just as I was about to bring out the map and try to decipher my whereabouts, my whole body froze.
It was pure primal instinct for an animal to know when it was being watched. I could feel it deep in my bones and didn’t even need anyone to spell it out for me. I wasn’t alone. A low guttural sound made me snap my head to a nearby bush. More growls sounded from all around me.
A small gasp escaped my lips as I watched a number of wolves walk out from different directions. Soon enough, I was surrounded by all of them. I tried to step back but there was one behind me.
I was really in for it now.
The biggest of them, a big black wolf walked up to her and stopped just a little away from her. She felt the urge to flinch back in fear but held her ground. She hadn’t done anything wrong. If it came to it, she would not be going down without a fight.
“Who are you? What do you want from me?” She yelled out to them.
The black wolf growled in response, its eyes glaring at her intently. For a second, she was sure it would definitely attack. What she didn’t expect was for it to slowly shift back into human form. The tall man walked closer to her, eyeing her up and down with a look of suspicion in his eyes.
“I think we’re the ones who should be asking you that.”
The other wolves shifted into a group of men, all of them watching her intently. She had to resist the urge to squirm under their intense gaze. The man in front of her was probably contemplating if he should just kill her off. Her heart sped up at that thought.
“Check her bag.” He said to one of the other men.
The blonde hair man grabbed her bag forcefully and emptied out its contents on the floor. They probably had no interest in what they saw and turned back to her, annoyance reading all over their facial expressions.
“Who do you work for? What allegiance do you serve?” He threw a barrel of questions at her, not giving her the chance to muster a single answer.
“I-
“You’ll be coming with us.”
Without giving me a chance to defend myself, the others grabbed me and began dragging me with them.
“Hey. Wait one second. This isn’t what you think. Who are you? And where the hell am I?”
They didn’t bother answering any of my questions and just dragged me along with them. My heart beat sped up as various scenarios ran through my head. Where were they taking me to? Who were they? I’d heard of people getting kidnapped this way. Was the same thing happening to me? Would I be whisked off to heaven knows where? My body parts sold off?
I tried fighting out of their grip once again and the black hair man turned to glare at me.
“Do that again, and I’ll cut your legs off.” He threatened.
His threat was crystal clear. Obey or suffer the consequences. Shit. Everything was happening so quick, I barely even had any chance to react. I couldn’t ask anything else. Who knew what they would do if provoked to anger.
Right. The best thing to do would be to just cooperate with them and give them what they wanted. Maybe they’d let me go if I did that. It was naïve to think that way but I didn’t have much of a choice. I remained quiet and let them place a bag over my head.
I didn’t expect the painful blow to my head before everything went black.
VIOLETWhen I tried pushing my eyes open, it hurt like never before. I couldn’t control the searing pain that filled my head.“Ow.”I clutched my head, as the memories started to flood my head. It was hard opening my eyes but I eventually managed to do so. I squinted my eyes, trying to adjust to the lighting of the room. I looked around the room. It was empty save for a small lightbulb that hung from the ceiling.I tried to move my body but realized my hands had been tied behind my back. Trying to fight out of the ropes was nothing but a futile attempt. I let out a curse under my breath. So much for trying to find Lucian Sinclair. All my plans were going south so far. I had failed to find the one person that was supposed to help me get my revenge. I had no idea where I was being held. Worst of all, I was so fucking hungry. My stomach growled in response and I had to double over to try and placate the pain. Keeping my eyes open required a lot of effort and my breathing was becoming more
TRISTAN“What did you say?”I wanted her to repeat the words she’d uttered so I’d know what I’d do with her. She still had that look of conviction in her eyes. I hated it. I didn’t like that she felt so sure of herself. I wanted to break her. I wanted her to know that I would be the one in charge, not her.“I can help you destroy Tristan. He’s your longtime rival, isn’t he?” Violet had a knowing look in her eyes.I couldn’t help but chuckle at her words. She really thought she had some sort of power over me. Like she could control me if she wanted to. She had a whole lot coming if that was what she felt she could do.I wasn’t some measly person that she could just try and use as she willed. She must have no clue who I am. Or if she did, she was a very bold woman. Too bad, this would be her last time ever being this bold.Leaning closer to her, I grabbed her chin forcefully, making her squirm in her chair. There was something else in her eyes. Something along the lines of fear. Good. I
VIOLET“Okay, so what’s the plan?” I started immediately, thinking it better if they went straight to the point. It was great that we were on the same page now. At least we both had a common goal in mind. Taking down West Creak pack once and for all. Lucian would be the perfect person for the job. He probably saw me as just some disposable pawn he could use but I saw him the same way.“Come on.”Lucian gestured for me to follow him. I sent Zayn a quick glance. The beta gave me an encouraging nod. I let out a breath before making my way after Lucian.Lucian lead me into a room that appeared to be his office. It was a well-furnished office that seemed to highlight the Alpha’s taste. He had gone back to seating on his chair and even gestured for me to sit down. I took a quick glance at Zayn. He was no longer standing and had opted for taking a seat. He had an unreadable expression on his face so I couldn’t even try to decipher what he was thinking. Letting out a breath, I took the seat an
VioletI was just marked.Even repeating it in my head didn’t make it feel any less like something out of a dream. Lucian Sinclair had made his mark on me and officially claimed me as his mate.It was something I’d hoped for my entire life. I’d always imagined what it would be like. The room specially decorated with flowers and balloons just for this moment. My mate would look at with love in his eyes, like I was the only thing that mattered in the world. It would be the best moment of her life. The one time where my life would finally feel completeInstead, I just stood there and watched as my mate sat back down at his desk with an indifferent expression. Like nothing had happened at all.Zayn looked oddly preoccupied with staring at his nails. He must have seen the whole thing happen. VioletCalm down.Calm down.I didn’t know how long I’d been repeating those words to myself. It wasn’t like it alleviated the matter or slowed down my breathing in anyway. For a split second, I lost awareness of my surrounding, only acutely aware of the fact that I was on the verge of passing out.The more I sought to bite down the panic, the more it threatened to consume me whole. Just when it was all becoming too much to bear, I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. When I turned, Zayn’s eyes were fixed on my figure.“Just calm down. I’m going to need you to breathe for me, Violet. Just breathe.” He stared deeply at me while he said those words.I nodded my head before facing forward, trying to follow his instructions. My eyes shut close as I took in a deep breath before counting to four and then letting it out. I repeated this small action a couple more times until my breathing became steady again.A small breath escaped my lips as I opened my eyes to face Zayn. He was still staring at
VioletBy the time we reached the house, the sun had already set and darkness was slowly closing in. Zayn unbuckled his seat belt and I did the same before getting out of the car. I let out a small breath, my gaze slowly drifting to the main house. How long had it been since I got here? Since the trajectory of my life took such a dramatic change.Even at evening time, it was still very a beauty to look at. I couldn’t help but marvel at it, mentally comparing it to that of my previous pack.A small chuckle left my lips. Trying to compare it would be a downgrade. Dark Moon was on another different level compared to them. If that one had been big, this one was grand in comparison. I was still staring at the building when Zayn tapped my shoulder softly.“Shall we?” He said, the smile never leaving his face.I hummed in response before nodding my head. It marveled me how much he was always smiling. I had initially sworn he had a resting bitch face the day we first met. Now it seemed he was

People who wouldn’t get straight to the point, two-faced betrayers, broccoli, and people who thought they could get away with challenging me without any form of repercussions. “I’m sorry sir.”The man cowered before me, his whole body shaking as he trembled like a leaf. His whole body was on the ground as he bowed before my feet, lying at the mercy of my wrath.I had ordered that the man be brought to my office. Two guards manned the door to prevent anyone else from interfering in what would ensue.Turns out the man had been slacking off in his patrol duties. It irritated me that he probably thought he could do that without getting any repercussions for that act. I would teach him a very big lesson for that. One he would be sure not to forget.“Rafe.” I said in a calm tone.“Y—Yes Alpha.” The man stuttered, his beady eyes wide with fear and apprehension.“You still haven’t explained yourself. I tossed and turned in the bed for a while, pulling the blankets over my head to shield me from the annoying rays of sunlight. After some minutes, I peeled the blankets off and opened my eyes. It was already morning. My eyes scoured through the room, taking in everything I was seeing. The room, the blankets, the vase by the window. My eyes lingered on the carnations still in the vase. For some reason, my hands instinctively went to my neck. The mark. Everything that happened yesterday was very much real. It hadn’t been a dream.I was still in Dark Moon pack, mated to their Alpha. In a few days, I would stand before them and be announced as Luna of the pack. My heart started to beat faster as the thought crossed my mind. I would be Luna.It shouldn’t have surprised me that much, seeing that I would have still been Luna if Tristan hadn’t rejected me. My fist tightened at the mere thought of Tristan, the one wh
LUCIANSo far, so good. I’d seen the days that passed as more or less a success. I was getting updates from Zayn, so I knew Violet was slowly adjusting to life in the pack. Reese was also spending a lot of time with her, so she didn’t feel too lonely. That was at least good.I didn’t need anything that would jeopardize the plan I had worked so hard to build. The plan I had put so much into. I was tolerating Violet only for what she could do for me.I hadn’t started prodding for information just yet, but I knew that would come with time.My hand absentmindedly drifted to the mark on my neck—the mark Violet had made. The mark that sealed the relationship we had with each other. After that day, it was as if I had become acutely more aware of her.It was like I could feel her anywhere and everywhere. I could now pick up her scent whenever I passed by anywhere she had been. It was driving me insane. I felt like breaking something. Or someone. Anyone that would be available. My inner wolf,
VIOLET“You haven’t answered my question. Why the hell did you just barge into my room like that, huh? What makes you think you have the right to do that?” Lucian asked, his tone sounding angrier than before. If he looked irritated before, he looked furious now. I cleared my throat, wondering if coming here had been a terrible decision on my part.In my defense, I only came here because I was about to go shopping, and I definitely didn’t have any money of my own to spend. Now I was wondering if maybe I should just give up on it and apologize for entering Lucian’s room like that. A part of me wanted to do that and get it over with. Keyword: a part.“Forgive me for barging into your room, Alpha.” I did a mock curtsy.Lucian did not look one bit impressed by it at all, his annoyance seemingly growing more and more.“I just wanted to let you know that I’ll be going shopping with Reese,” I started.Lucian’s frown deepened at the mention of Reese’s name. He probably already knew that we had
VIOLET“So, how are you liking Dark Moon so far, Sofia?” Reese started. “Well…I’m actually loving it here. Zayn showed me around and told me about different places and spots. I really like it. The restaurants, malls, and everything. This place is amazing. It’s really nice that you have a pack that fosters community and togetherness so much.” Reese nodded her head, listening to everything I was saying. It felt good having someone give me their full undivided attention. It was really nice getting someone to care this way. As good as it felt having someone listen to what I had to say, my guard was still up. I still didn’t know if Reese genuinely wanted to hang out with me or if she wanted to get something out of me. She was Lucian’s sister, after all. Maybe Lucian had sent her here so she could get something out of me. Or maybe she had some ulterior motives. I tried to push those thoughts out of my head. There was no point in starting to overthink. Reese was still here, of her own ac
VIOLET“I can’t.” Zayn chuckled before speaking again. “Alright then. What do you want to know?” I chugged a glass of orange juice down before speaking. “First things first. Do you have a mate?” That got Zayn to pause mid-bite as he sent me a skeptical look. I felt like slapping myself. What kind of question was that? He probably thought I was trying to make a move on him. “I’m not trying to make a move on you or anything like that, I swear.” I waved my hand frantically. Zayn let out a laugh, unable to hold it in anymore. “I know. I was just messing with you. To answer your question, yes, I do have a mate. You’ll get to meet her soon.” I nodded, taking in all he’d said before focusing back on my breakfast. When we were finished, we pushed our plates aside and turned to each other. “So, what’s on today’s agenda?” I broke the silence first. Zayn hummed, thinking of what to say. Just when he opened his mouth to say something, Lucian walked into the dining room. We both fell silent
