Theo POV
I am putting on my leather jacket when Killian knocks on my open door. I look at him and automatically turn my back to him. He takes a deep breath and walks into my room, closing the door behind him.
“Did I say you could come in?” I ask with annoyance, and he looks at me with anger plastered on his face.
“You didn’t say I couldn’t either”, He barks at me, and I shake my head as I pull my hair up into a bun. I have been ignoring him. I can’t be fucked with his lame excuses. He hasn’t even apologised yet. He can be a dick sometimes. I know he did what he had to do. But still doesn’t excuse how he did it. He could’ve spoken to me. Tell me he needed Everly dead, and I would’ve faked her death. I would’ve done it so well that even Killian would’ve believed she was dead.

Everly POVIt’s been days since I spoke to Theodore, and I hate to admit that I am missing him. I am missing him more than I thought I would. He never really cared about me and about what I had to say or do, but now that my father left everything to me, he cares. Does he want to take over the mafia? I would never want anything to do with that. I don’t want this position. We have an election today to decide who’s taking over for me. We decide to make it a democracy instead of a dictator leadership. I think it’s the best course of action, and after the decision has been made, I will have nothing to do with them, and my connection with them will be severed. I will be able to get a divorce from Theodore, but the agreements and the contracts will remain active. I would never do anything to make his life worse. I know how much that contract was important, and now I understand why they did this marriage.
Theodore POVI stop the car in front of a white building. I look at the satnav and then at my friends, and they are both looking out of the window. The house is so cold that it is falling apart. I open the door and get out at the same time. Killian and Elliot do the same. We all stand near the car with our hands in our pockets. It’s a poor neighbourhood, and I bet that there’s drug trafficking in the area.I look around and see a woman hanging on the floor. She looks like she is passed out, and I look away. I stalk towards the door, and when I am about to knock, the door opens, and I see her. Agnes. Her eyes were dull and without spark, her hair long and filthy with grease. Her clothes with holes and were dirty. What the actual fuck. Her eyes meet mine, and she smiles. She takes one step closer to me to hug me as she raises her arms, and I take one step back. Killian looks at her in shock, and I can se
Theo POV“Let’s go”, I say, grabbing the bag from her hand and storming out of the house. She follows me, and we walk to the car. She smiles when she sees it, and I know she recognises it. It’s my oldest car and my favourite. I used to take her on drives in this car around the coast.“Get in”, I bark, shoving the bag into the boot of the car. She nods her head and gets inside. When I sat, I asked her for the address of my daughter's school, and she gave it. We drive, and I can see a rundown school. Kids running around playing American football, and I grab the steering wheel with all the strength that I have before I walk out of the door and open the back door so Agnes can follow me.“You’re going to check her out now”, I say, and she nods her head as we walk into the school. The corridors look nothing like the schools I attended to. I walk down the corri
Theo POV“Boss, you have to see this”, I hear one of my men say. I turn around and look at him, and he passes me his phone. He has been taking tabs on Everly and Spider. Spider has been keeping him updated on everything, and today he is taking Everly to a meeting with all the potential new leaders of the American mafia. Fucking great. That has everything been fucked up and exploded in their faces.I walk straight into Abigail’s room, and she is sitting on the floor playing with her Legos. She looks distracted. I knock a little on the door, and she turns around to face me while still sitting on the floor. But when her eyes meet mine, she stands up and hugs her teddy bear.“Aby, I need to go out. I’m going to leave Rosa here”, I say, and she nods her head, lowering her eyes to the floor. Her sadness is breaking my heart. This girl deserves everything to make her happy. But hopefully, from tomorrow, she will get some sort of norm
Everly POV Theodore hasn’t left me alone in the past hour. His hands were always on me, especially when Killian came back to where we were standing to tell us that Christian managed to run away. He probably found a different way out because none of the guys outside saw him leave, and they were all shocked that they couldn’t find him. The building is being swept from one corner to the other. No one goes or out without Killian saying. “Let’s go home. I’ve got something to show you”, Theodore says, and I look at him and shake my head. Just because he saved my life doesn’t mean I am willing to forget how he treated me before. “I want to go to my house”, I say, and he looks at me frowning. It’s like I just smacked him in the face because he looks shocked; he looks like I have gone crazy. He stands in front of me with his hands cradling my face as I look him in the eyes. “I need you, Everly, don’t do this to
Theo POVAfter Abigail went to bed, I sat in the front room with Everly. She looks at me and then focuses on the tv again. I know she has questions. I would have questions too. “You can ask them”, I say without looking at her keeping my eyes on the tv. I don’t know if I want to see the look of disappointment on her face when I tell her about Agnes. And how I went to see her. I don’t want her to think that there’s something between us still. Because I could’ve been brain fogged when she called, and I needed to see her, but after finding out what she did. I couldn’t even look at her properly. All the doubts I had disappeared, and I realised she was just someone from my past that needed to stay in the past while Abigail and Everly were my present and my future.“How did you find out about Abigail?”, she asks, looking at me. Her entire body turned to me while she sat on h
Everly POVTheodore has been gone for a long time. I decide to walk after them, and I might be able to help. After all, I know exactly how she felt. I was brought here against my will, taken from my family. I know they agreed to it, and they kind of sold me for the business deal, but I didn’t want to come, and I ended up here, away from my family and not really knowing the man that was standing in front of me. I guess she feels the same way.“You don’t like it here?”, Theodore asks, and she replies by telling him that home is where her mommy is, I feel my heart breaking. This little girl, at such a young age, has gone through so much. I would take it all away if I could. I would make it better for her, I would take her pain away and make it more just so she could be a normal child without any worries or concerns that should be adults having and not a child.
Theo POVAfter leaving Abigail’s room, my head is spinning, I can’t even think straight, and my heart is beating so fast I think it might stop just to go on a strike for everything I have made it go through the last month. I close my eyes, storming into my office. I can hear Everly following me. That’s what I need, her and alcohol right now. I pour myself a big tumbler of whiskey and down it straight, noticing she is standing outside the office, in front of the door,“Come here”, I say, offering her my hand. She stands inside and closes the door behind her. I walk to my chair, and she straddles me. That’s it, baby; make me feel your body against mine. That’s exactly what I need. To feel your warmth and your skin against my touch. She places both of her hands against my chest. I bet she can feel my crazy heartbeat and how I m
