My name is Jericho and I’m my father’s biggest regret and disappointment. Malachi tried to tell Kai about some prophecy about me but he was pulled back into the realms of the dead before he could reveal anything about it to my father.

My life was pretty good for a while. I went to school and I joined training sessions on weekends with my father’s Zetas. I lived in a castle where everything was done for me. I had never even made my own bed and I had always gotten everything I wanted.

I’m the oldest of three and I’m a mixture of my mother and father. I have one blue eye and one green eye. I have light brown hair, probably from my mother’s blonde hair, and my father’s tanned skin. I’m a few months shy of my seventeenth birthday and I have a year left of high school.

My younger brother, Gabriel, is almost sixteen and my sister Adira is fourteen. Gabriel looks like Kai and Adira is a mixture of Adara and Adelie. We live in Oban, Scotland, and we have the biggest pack in the world with nearly twelve thousand members.

My family is full of important and badass people, people with powers, so the expectation to be great is always there and the disappointment when you fail is so much worse. I was sent to attend school on the Isle of Mull to learn to fit in with humans since Oban is a wolf town.

Kai firmly believed that I had to learn to be humble in order to become a better king and not just be the pampered prince of Oban. He wanted me to have a normal kind of life, like he had growing up and Adelie agreed with him.

At school, I was naturally popular because my alpha aura drew people to me. I didn’t partake in physical sports like football and such, because humans weren’t as strong as us. I’m taller than most, reaching six foot three inches with an average weight of two hundred pounds. I worked out and I ran ten miles every day but I wasn’t even close to Kai in physique yet.

I’m lucky because I’ve also found my Beta. His parents died in a car accident when he was ten and since then he’s lived in the castle with me because his grandparents couldn’t handle his unruly behavior as a child. We were opposites and also alike. Slade hated bullies but he was quick to lose his temper although he didn’t nearly get into as much trouble as I did.

Slade is my brother in every sense of the word and there’s literally nothing we wouldn’t do for each other. Slade prefers to train over weekends with the Zetas since the Beta’s main role was to protect the Alpha so that weekend I was on my own.

We were traveling to Campbeltown and I was sitting in the back of the school bus even though Kai said that Carter would take me. I had opted out of it, since I had my car taken away as punishment for the whole Shawna affair. One thing about Kai though, he was very hard on me but he also protected me because he never told my mother about Shawna.

“Are you still game for tonight?” Andreas asked me as he leaned over the back of his seat facing me.

“Of course, it’s going to be epic as long as we’re not caught,” I said to him and he grinned at me.

We had a plan for that night. We were about thirty students on the bus and we would be sleeping over in Campbeltown that night, so that we would be well rested and fresh for the championship races the following day. We planned to steal the school bus and go out when all the coaches were asleep.

We weren’t bad kids and we got into normal trouble so this was our one act of rebellion. I knew my father wouldn’t approve, but what could he do? Kill me? Blaise had been quiet all day too since I pretty much ignored his warnings.

We arrived at the school and we settled down for the night after eating dinner in the school cafeteria. I was too excited to sleep and at 10 PM, Andreas made his way over to where I lay on the bunk bed. He touched my shoulder and I opened my eyes.

“It’s time to go,” he whispered.

I got up and we crept out of the sleeping hall with fifteen other boys. We were a mixture of football and basketball players with me and Andreas from the athletics team. This was also my normal social circle at school, except Slade, because he wasn’t here.

We pushed the school bus down the road and once we were far enough away I started it and drove towards Kilean. I had another group of friends there that we were meeting up with. They would supply the liquor we wanted. I had arranged all of this before we even left the school grounds.

An hour later, I pulled off the side of the road and climbed out of the bus as two boys waited next to a car. We shook hands and I handed them cash in exchange for the bottles of whiskey. Athletes don’t normally drink a lot so it didn’t take much for the others to quickly reach a drunken state and I drank more and faster than I’ve ever done in my life.

“We should get back,” I said, feeling happier and slightly drunk.

“Yeah, before someone wakes up and realizes we’re gone,” Andreas said.

We all laughed at everything and stumbled back onto the bus. It was nearing 1 AM and my first race was at 7 AM. I knew I would be fine but the rest of my team would be suffering.

I started the bus and turned back towards Campbeltown. The guys were singing some awful kind of team building tune and I was laughing too much at how terrible they were. The road we were driving on was straight and I knew we were about fifteen minutes from the school.

I stood with Slade in his room as I put my jacket on and looked at myself in the mirror. Regen, Rafael, Liam and Leon stood to one side. They were wearing varying shades of purple ties and gray shirts under their jackets. My own shirt was a light gray and my tie was the same shade as Blaise’s eyes. We were all wearing black suits and dress shoes. Harper had insisted that I get my hair cut and we were all forced to shave. She called us pretty and every single one of us had glared at her.Kai entered the room and gave them all a look as they scrambled out of the room. Kiran laughed as he kept the door open and closed it behind him, joining us. I smiled as I turned away from the mirror and Kiran nodded approvingly.“Jericho, you look great,” Kiran said as he hugged me.“Thanks, Grandpa, so do you,” I said with a smile.“I remember looking into your eyes seconds after you were born and the love I felt for you in that moment has only grown. I always knew you were destined to do great thing

I took Storm’s hand and we walked to the administration building. I closed my eyes briefly and concentrated on the extra heartbeat coming from her body and I stopped as my eyes widened. I started chuckling and Storm turned to look at me.“What?” Storm asked me.“There’s two heart beats,” I said to her.“Twins?” she asked me and I nodded and kissed her again.Blaise was growling happily in my head and wagging his tail as I rolled my eyes at him and I took Storm’s hand again as we continued walking. Alpha Ramirez and his wife, Cheryl, stood outside the administration building with four Zetas.“Alpha King, you wanted to see us,” Ramirez said and bowed his head at me and Storm.“Yes, please follow us to the arena,” I said and started walking. I told the Zetas to take the Alpha and his wife to the underground entrance as Storm and I made our way to the platform. Slade held his arms up and the crowd stopped talking and looked at me expectantly.“Thank you for convening here at such short no

I stood to one side as James continued his interrogation on the rogues. They were in different cells being questioned at the same time. I didn’t really condone torture but they wanted to harm Storm so I had no empathy with what was being done to them now.I could just make them confess but where was the fun in that? I wanted them to talk of their own volition and confess Izak’s plans which I already knew of from the witches. I listened as a few of them confirmed the witches' memories.“Kill them,” I said as I stepped out of the shadows.“Your Majesty, please,” one rogue said as soon as he saw me.“You dared to cross my borders, planned on taking my wife. You serve evil and there is no room for such evil in this world, you will all die,” I said to him and walked away.I knew now for a fact that Izak would either appear himself or send more rogues since he would know by now that his first team failed in securing Storm. I wasn’t going to cancel the wedding or the coronation. I was ready

The castle was quiet at 3 AM in the morning and I walked the quiet hallways until I reached the front door. I couldn’t sleep and as I walked around I encountered the patrols. They had grown accustomed to me appearing in the forest and checking on them. I also refused to have them bowing at me although with the Omegas I had given up on telling them to stop.‘Do you smell that human?’ Blaise asked me.‘Yes, it’s faint but I smell it,’ I said to him.‘Of course it’s faint with your loser nose,’ he said and laughed at me.‘Shut up, mutt,’ I said to him as he rolled his eyes at me.‘What are you waiting for? Follow it,’ he said to me.‘Yes, Benji,’ I said to him and he growled at me.I entered the forest and Blaise pushed forward as he shifted and started running. I sat back and let him take full control as the scents came through stronger and he took off dodging between the trees.Maybe I felt this restless because I had close to two hundred Alphas on my property with their wives and my f

I sighed when Slade left my office and closed the door behind him. I still hadn’t gone to see Kiran about the stupid coronation. I didn’t see the point of having a ceremony. It wasn’t like there was anyone out there that could take me on in a dominance fight for the throne.I had just declared myself king and anybody could also just declare themselves something. I had to go through with this coronation whether I liked it or not and I really hoped that this would draw Izak to us. I wanted to kill him, make him bleed and make him hurt.I looked at my phone on my desk and sighed. It was better to get this done before Kai paid me another visit or just organized the damn coronation on his own. I wouldn’t put it past him. The pack seemed to agree about the coronation.“Hello,” he answered his phone on the third ring.“Hi, Grandpa,” I said and I knew he was smiling.“A phone call from the king, this must be serious,” Kiran said and laughed.“I want to ask you a favor,” I said.“Anything,” he

Between Slade, Rafael and Regen they had gotten the new building finished within two weeks. The pack members that worked in construction had worked around the clock to get it up to code and habitable. A week later, the building was fully functional to house only visiting Alphas. There were exactly two hundred en-suite rooms as I firmly believed that guests should eat with the visiting pack no matter who they were.I was changing how everything worked and I also believed that Alpha and Beta families shouldn’t consider themselves more important than anyone else. In the Royal Alpha Pack, everyone ate together, no matter what your rank was.A few Alphas had arrived requesting audiences with me to discuss the official opening of training camps. It seemed that they liked the idea of sending their warriors to train with the Royal Zetas. Slade liked the idea of training pack warriors so that we’d never suffer the losses we had in the past.I had been thinking about opening an Alpha School for

I turned into the school parking lot and saw Dani as she sat on the steps in front of the closed doors. She looked up when she saw the Jeep and I got the idea that she didn’t really want to be here. She stood up when she saw me climb out and walked over to me. I smiled at her but she was looking do

Inside the envelope were two new social security cards, Jericho and Slade Cannon. He even took my name from me. It was a painful blow to my already fragile state of mind. I felt defeated as I opened the note and read it as tears threatened to escape again.“Jericho,The bank card holds your inherit

The drive back to the castle was done in absolute silence. Falcon didn’t say a word to me, but then again, he didn’t need to. I knew Kai was pissed at me, he was disappointed, yet again. I was still trying to come to grips with the fact that all my friends were dead and I’d driven them to their dea

I was laughing as my friends sang at the top of their lungs. We were all excited, dazed by the alcohol and not caring that we were breaking the law.“Let’s see how fast this bus can go!” Matheson yelled and I pressed my foot down on the gas.We were speeding down the road, all of us shouting fearle
