Surrounded by a crowd, it took all his upbringing and patience engraved in his blood for Bruce to stay put for Sophia’s return.

When Sophia finally comes back, Bruce is right in the middle of a patriarchal lecture from Theodore, the Alpha of Pack Scarlett Stone: “Next month, Seraphina Estate in the southern subrub. You must come. Sharing the same city, our two packs should pick up friendly events like this.”

Sophia gives a light, firm nod from a distance outside the elite circle surrunding Bruce, and his eyes immediately light up. He basically cut off the old man’s slow speech, squeezing out the last drop of courtesy as he says with curved lips: “Sorry, but my secretary is here with an important matter. I’ll let her handle the matter of the manquet next month though. You are absolutely right about us improving contact.”

As he speak, he pats Theodore on his arm, barely expressing his courtesy before he pushes aside the crowd and leaves.

“Speak,” Heading out the ballroom, Bruce demands.
