Royal Arts Academy.
Mr Austin and Daniel headed straight to his office as soon as he arrived. It seemed like they were in a haste, and immediately they got into the office, the conversation took off." I have great news for you." Mr. Austin revealed after exchanging pleasantries. He couldn't wait to see the look on Mr. Daniel's face after sharing his discovery with him." I'm glad that today someone has good news for me," Daniel muttered, " Let's get right into it."Mr. Austin gladly opened his PC and went straight to the folder where he saved the videos selected from the auditions. He took a glance at the content of the file, and without a blink, clicked on the very clip he couldn't get enough of.Daniel saw the girl in the footage, and knew he had met his main character. Nevertheless, he patiently watched the clip till it was over and couldn't put into words how he felt. His spirit resonated with that of the actress in a way that he had never felt with anyone else before. Her delivery of lines, expressions and body language spoke volumes of how talented she was as a newbie.A fact that solidified his faith in her ability to deliver a good lead. By the look on his face, Mr. Austin knew his search was over." I want her as my main female lead, and I want her as a scholarship student here in Royal Arts." Daniel finally spoke, and Mr. Austin was all smiles." Definitely. I will make the necessary preparations for her schooling; and send you a list of possible male leads to know what you think."" Great." Daniel stood up and they shook hands. He suddenly felt an urgency to get back to his job, with the female lead, everything was coming together. " Thank you, Mr. Austin. Looking forward to working more with you and Royal arts." He said and headed for his car.Daniel couldn't understand just why he couldn't get the young girl out of his mind. Since he left the academy, her wide eyes popped into his mind. He felt a familiar pull to her and wondered if he'd encountered her previously.Later on, he pinned it to the fact she was a rare talent. One he couldn't forget after her enchanting performance.Daniel pushed the thought out of his mind, pinning it on the fact that he was so taken with her because of her rare talents and looks. Her eyes brought back memories of a certain someone, alongside a kick in the guts.Surely, she didn't forget about him. She couldn't have moved on when he held something that belonged to her alone. He felt determined to seek her and wasn't losing hope regardless of the obstacles. He wasn't losing hope despite the news, matter of fact he just grew a greater zeal to seek her out. He had to meet her, even if it was a gravesite, but he earnestly hoped it wasn't.*****Anna, Deloise, and Esther were seated in the living room. " Good afternoon ma," Anna spoke, finally breaking the long and overdue silence." How are you doing dear?" Ma'am Esther asked calmly." I'm alright, just preparing for my resumption this week." A wry smile pitched on Esther's face at her words." Yeah, Karen won't quite shut up about it, we are both proud of how your life is shaping up."Esther felt happy that one of the girls she watched grow up had actual plans to do something worthwhile, meanwhile, Anna couldn't help but notice the lack of communication between Deloise and her mother. She stylishly hit Deloise by the side, and with her eyes, willed her to say something, hinting on their discussion prior to this meeting. Deloise lost the urge to speak to her mother upon setting foot in her house. The pep talks were useless the moment she saw her mother comfortably seated without care. Did she even mean anything at this point? Did she notice her absence or did it not mean anything to her.Just like her dreams meant nothing to her.Nevertheless, she decided to do what she had always done - suck up and bend to her mother's will. During the time spent away from her, she realized her mother was the light of her world.Everything revolved around her mother, including her best friend who came by extension of her mother's best friend, Karen. How could she possibly survive without her?She was her only family and despite her dream of acting, she couldn't imagine herself doing it without the consent of her mother. It wasn't possible. Who would be her active support system? There wasn't anyone else.Deloise felt a headache hit from her thoughts and decided to bite the bone. There was nothing to lose anyways." So you've decided to disown me?" The words rolled with an air of arrogance that shuffled Esther's feathers." Good afternoon." Esther spoke softly, too soft for comfort; her eyes focused on her daughter, and her face wore a permanent scowl at her tone." I don't want to play good girl today, Mom. You should answer, and let's be done with this conversation." Deloise spewed with disregard, having had enough.Anna saw the exchange leading to w disaster and immediately dragged Deloise out the sitting room. " Why are you being difficult? For goodness sake, we talked about this! Why are you letting your head get in the mix? " She asked in exasperation, attempting to keep her voice low." I'm sorry. I-I just wanted to know why she said that. " Deloise stuttered, " Why would she use our relationship against me like it meant nothing to her? " She asked rhetorically, visibly hurt." Your being rude wouldn't get you the answers you need. We need to go back in there and solve the equation. Okay? " Anna got an affirmative nod from Deloise.Meanwhile, Esther felt scared. She had never seen Deloise in such character and it freaked her to imagine she pushed her off the cliff. While Anna spoke animatedly by the corner, her mind fell back to the last person she put up with those conditions and the results that followed. Her heart ached as her psych relived the traumatic experience, poking a barely healed wound.Esther sensed the girls coming around and immediately placed her guard up. Every emotion formerly reflected disappeared, and She resumed a stoic position, ready for the final tug.She was ready to accept whatever happened. Maybe her life was made to be that way, maybe no one could ever love her enough to choose her - Not her daughter, and definitely not him.Anna and Deloise sauntered into the living room and cautiously sat on the couch with Anna beside her. This time, she wasn't cajoled to speak." I didn't want to come here." Deloise started, " Matter of fact, I was ready to never speak to you again."Esther observed her daughter speak very calmly and shook inside of her. Unconsciously, she readied her heart for an unknown impact she felt was coming. " But I couldn't.." Deloise's words triggered a wave of relief, " these past few days I've spent hating you, but last night, I couldn't bear the fact that I left you home alone despite my anger." Esther's stoic stance cracked at her daughter's words." Mummy I don't know why you do not want to support me, I don't know why you are so against the idea of me being an actress, I don't know what your reason forced you to even contemplate disowning me in regards to this issue." Deloise sniffed, " I've been so consumed with thinking these past few days. I thought of a time when you weren't there for me and I came up empty. A time when you didn't love, care and cater to me while being a single parent and- "Anna couldn't hold back her
It was almost time for the movie to air. Deloise spent her time window shopping until she got tired and made a head start to the theater. Time slowed at the theater hall, she picked up her phone and scrolled through a microblogging app.She hadn't been on her phone for a while and being there only reminded her of things she wanted to forget. As she scrolled through, it became easy to convince herself that she could be a fan of the art.A sneak peak into the entertainment world wouldn't hurt, it couldn't get her back to desiring and needing to fulfill her dreams, it couldn't pull her into the sweet abyss she created herself. Messages flooded in and she felt nostalgic. Familiar handles and mutuals she used to engage reminded her of the life she meticulously built over the years. Now washed down the drain. Barely glancing at the notifications, she switched into what's trending and busied herself reading about controversial topics.Surprisingly, the movie she was about to see made the l
" I can't believe I'll be resuming with my best friend," Anna said excitedly." I'm glad that you feel that way Ann," Deloise muttered, clearly not as excited. " Help me zip this up." She said, struggling with her bag." Last time I checked you didn't help me when I was getting packed so why should I?" She sassed, having way too much fun seeing Deloise sitting on a clearly overpacked luggage." P-please Anna, I don't want this to-"RIPPPP!!The horrible sound of her luggage tearing apart filled the air, and Anna looked like a deer in headlights. " Maybe I stretched that a little bit.." She cringed at her friend's deranged look. " This is so fucked up! We leave tomorrow, what am I going to do? Where do I start?" She growled, her hand combed through her hair and she took in the damage.Anna saw the turmoil in her eyes and immediately sourced out another option. Her eyes caught a box deep inside the closet and before Deloise could protest, she dragged it out." Anna, don't open-"" It'
Daniel walked into the office of his long-time friend Elvis and was enveloped into a bro hug." Is this you, man?" Elvis said, eyeing him from top to bottom." One and only. " He replied with an equal smile." Acting did you good, remember those times you were in rickety jeans, now you're some hot shot." Elvis said, and elbowed his friend." Oh please," Daniel waved his hand, then took a seat. Elvis sat across from him." Tell me, how's your search going? any breakthrough so far? " He asked and got a pointed look from Daniel. " I think you should give up on her, get another lady and settle the fuck down, you aren't getting any younger." He spat, unfazed by his gaze." I need a drink." Daniel demanded, ignoring his friends' opinions." A hangout is long overdue at this point." He stood up, " might as well hear what you have to say over a drink."" Lead the way." Daniel got up and straightened his fit. Together, they exited the building.Elvis drove to a nearby hotel using one of his lux
The girls settled into the school, and built a three way friendship with Amanda - a freshman they met in the school banquet. Amanda was the social one, always getting invited and showing up to the school's events with the girls. It was school hours and the girls went out to do some filing. " When are you going to ask that boy out, Ann?" Amanda started, " we all know you feel something."Anna felt ruffled, " I don't want to rush into Anything." She replied, but Amanda wasn't having it." Rush into anything? I'm not asking you to have sex with him, girl. Maybe go out on a date?" She suggested, " I mean, you've been in the awkward friendship phase for too long." " Now you're getting on my nerves. Can we drop this?" She hissed.Seeing the case was getting thick, Deloise intervened. " When Ann is ready to take that step, you'll be the first to know, Amanda." She lectured, and Amanda raised her hands in mock surrender. " You can also drop the attitude, Ann. That tea is long overdue." Del
" C'mon Deloise, you know how much I hate suspense. Can you please talk to us?" Amanda inquired, scared by the silent treatment." Loise, I'm getting scared, what's going on?" Anna spoke softly, her tone riddled with concern. " I might need to call your mom if you don't get speaking."That elicited a reaction from Deloise. " Don't call her!" She blurted, with her eyes wide, " I just needed a moment." The two ladies sported a knowing smirk and drew closer to her." Okay?" Amanda urged," Swear to me that whatever I say doesn't leave this room." Deloise said, looking between them. " I meant that." She added after seeing their reluctance." That's ridiculous." Anna began, " you should-"" I swear!" Amanda said, eliciting a smile from Deloise. Anna sported an eyeroll." Whatever. We don't have all day."Deloise suddenly felt nauseous. She couldn't understand why she felt so nervous." IgotanofferfromRoyalArtsAcademy, " she blurted in one breath. The girls didn't hear a thing. Or so she
Deloise stood nervously in the kitchen, rigorously turning the batter for the first and last cake she was baking within the college wallsHow did she know? Because she finally decided to leave. No going back now.Ever since she had the conversation with her mother, she was convinced of exactly what it is she must do. Her mother made her stance clear as regards the matters of her happiness and she truly believed this was the right choice - It had to be.Deloise felt certain that her decision would prove to be her best decision yet. This time, she wasn't letting anyone discourage or stop her. Not her mother, not her friends, and definitely not herself. She made peace with the fact that she must pursue her dreams. Even if it meant doing so alone. After preparing the cake, she made dinner. She'd previously asked the girls to come around this evening for what she referred to as a surprise dinner.Anna was skeptical when she asked for space to prepare the said surprise dinner but she manage
It was finally the day. Deloise woke up with a startle. It felt like the universe skipped a beat and she immediately checked the time on her phone, noting Amanda's presence beside her.Memories from the previous night crept into her consciousness but she didn't feel anything. She felt so calm, she wondered if it was the calm before the storm.Remembering the time, she got up with a lightning speed and hopped into the shower. Her flight was scheduled for seven, and it was her first ever flight. She couldn't afford to be late! Her fuss awakened Amanda who opened her eyes with a squint, while Deloise threw a good morning as she prepared herself. This time around, she couldn't risk failing. Before you know it, Amanda was up and doing the lord's work. Deloise met her suitcases packed by the door, while Amanda fussed around, ticking things off the list they created to avoid forgetting anything." All done." Amanda said, looking around the bare looking room.Everything had been packed up, sa
