Kenji’s POV“She promised to make me the Lycan King and give me the Wolf Queen as my mate.” Jamari stiffens in my lap at his words, an angry growl fills the room coming from my left. Beta Charles stiffens in his seat, a choked look appearing on his face, blood seeping from his nose and eyes. My eyes flicker over to Levi to my right, barely contained rage contorting his face as he focuses his attention on my Beta of pack affairs.Jamari shifts in my lap, getting up into a seated position as she reaches over to touch Levi’s arm in comfort. ‘We need him alive for now.’ Her voice flits through my mind. ‘That doesn’t mean he can’t suffer for a few minutes first.’ Comes Levi’s strained response. Jamari settles back in her spot against my chest, satisfied that Levi doesn’t intend to kill my Beta just yet. ‘What is going on Alpha?’ Gamma Francis French voice asks from his position by the door, his concentration set on Beta Charles suffering in the seat in front of me. ‘I believe our
Jamari’s POV“I think we should let him go back to his pack.” Henry’s grateful eyes meet mine from across the desk. “I don’t know if that is a good idea Red.” “I hate to agree with the Demon, but I’m not sure we should set him free after he betrayed us.” Kenji’s studies Henry warily. I lean up in Kenji’s lap, turning myself until I’m facing Henry. “Henry only did what he did in order to protect his pack when he thought that his King had turned his back on him. Any true Alpha would have done the same thing.” “How about baby steps Okami.” I turn to look at Kenji. “Let’s let him reach out to his father and smooth things over with the Southern Pride Pack, but from the watchful eye of us back in your pack.”My first thought was to argue with Kenji and order him to release Henry at once, but I caught myself before doing that. Turning back to Henry I ask, “Is that acceptable to you?”Henry’s eyes widen in surprise, clearly not expecting to get a say in his fate. “I will do anything it ta
Jamari’s POV“We’ve been searching all night and we still haven’t found the room that we are looking for.” Plopping down in an open chair, I fold my arms over my chest as a pout forms on my lips. Levi lets out a chuckle as he walks across the room towards my seat. “We’ll find the room Red. It’s just going to take time.”“I don’t want it to take time.” My pout growing on my face. “We need Remiel back as soon as possible.”“Jamari is right.” Kenji speaks up from across the room where he investigates the wall for a secret passage. Pausing in his inspection, he turns to look at us. “Your mother is on the move and we still don’t know what she is planning.” He runs his fingers through his hair. “We need all of the help we can get to keep Jamari safe.”“Maybe it’s time we meet the leader of the Vampire Realm.” Levi says, kneeling on the floor in front of me.My heart quickens at the thought of meeting my possible fourth mate. But am I ready to take on another mate so quickly? We’ve barely g
Jamari’s POV“What aren’t you telling me?” My eyes move from one King to the next, suspicion in their depths. “It’s nothing.” Kenji says, running his fingers through his hair.“We need to prepare for the spell so we can find the key to releasing Remiel from my father’s prison.” Levi says, avoiding my eyes. Every fiber in my being tells me that they are hiding something from me, but I decide to ignore it, for now. There are more important things to deal with right now, like getting my Angel back. “Let’s go get things started then.” I tell them, rising from my seat.An hour later…“Are you sure you want me to perform the spell?” I look at the supplies scattered around us that Levi and Ruth went and gathered. “You do remember that the last spell that I performed didn’t go according to plan, right?” I turn skeptical eyes in Levi’s direction.Moving closer to where I stand, Levi wraps his arms around my middle. “I think it went exactly according to plan Sweetheart.” He whispers in my ear
Levi’s POV“How long do you think she’s going to be knocked out for?” Kenji asks, pacing back and forth in our sparse living room, worry written on his face.“She used a lot of power on that spell.” I run my fingers through my hair. “It’s hard to tell how quickly she’ll be able to recharge after something like that.”“You both better hope that my daughter comes out of this okay or you’ll know the wraith of a mother.” Luna Aiyana glares at us from her seat across the living room, Alpha Kai holding her tightly at his side. Mostly for comfort, but I suspect to prevent her from attacking me or the Lycan King. She wouldn’t be able to do much damage to either of us, as I’m sure the Alpha has realized, but it would cause quite the issue if she attacked her King. Kenji stops his pacing to stare at the Luna seated on one of the couches. “You have never shown much concern for your daughter in the time that I have known you both, so don’t pretend to start now.” He growls out, turning his back
Kenji’s POV “Maybe Damballa can finish telling us the story of his Realm while we wait.” Now that I know that Jamari has awakened I can finally relax for a moment. I plop myself on one of the dainty chairs that Levi chose to decorate our living room with, letting out a relieved sigh. The tension in my muscles begin to leave as I let myself sink deeper into the tiny chair. “You were able to hear Damballa as he spoke to me?” Levi takes his seat on the couch, elbows resting on his knees as he leans forward, surprise written in his features. My brows furrow at his question. Was I not supposed to hear the Demon speaking to Levi? Running my fingers through my hair, I pull one of my long legs over the other, searching for comfort in this Goddess awful chair. What was Levi thinking when he bought this monstrosity? “I heard the whole conversation clear as if you were both speaking out loud.” I tell him, shifting in my seat. “I thought Demons didn’t have a second identity like wolves.” I
Levi’s POVDamballa’s story about a Realm for the witches and his deal with the Ruler of Purgatory has created more questions that need answering. My mind is still reeling from the fact that our demons are separate beings that live within us just like the wolves. And those beings are former living creatures? This is all too much to take in. ‘Is that how all those in the Demon Realm get their Demons? From souls trapped in Purgatory?’ Kenji asks Damballa, fascinated by the history of everything he was told. ‘No, not all sssubjectsss in the Demon Realm get an inner Demon like Levi here.’ Damballa tells us. ‘Only thossse born from the original Demonsss bloodlines recccieve an inner Demon sssuch asss me, but even then, they are usssually previousss Demonsss that passed before them. Levi isss the exception in that he got a God asss hisss Demon.’‘That all sounds really complicated.’ Kenji says, running his fingers through his hair. It does sound a bit complicated, even to someone that was
Levi’s POVAll of the pieces of the puzzle are finally fitting into place and making sense. Why else would my mother try to unlock the Fae Realm for thousands of years? She must be trying to release her people from their imprisonment. It would explain a lot about me and the powers that I have that are uncommon in Demons. But how has she kept this a secret from everyone for so long? She was with God for a century and then with my father for longer than that. How could she hide her true identity from him and all of his subjects? That is the only piece of the puzzle that I haven’t quite figured out yet. After running these thoughts through my head over and over again, I decide to share my thoughts with Jamari and Kenji. It feels so freeing to be able to share my burdens with others without the fear of being seen as weak. Being the King of the Demon Realm means always being strong no matter what. But now…Now I have others I can share my burdens with. A family that can help lighten the l
