Levi's POV It has been twenty-four hours since Ruth has checked in with me and twelve hours since anyone has seen her. Any other time I wouldn’t worry about her going missing for a day, I’m used to Ruth going off on her own for a while. But it’s not like her to not check in when she’s on a mission. And the fact that I can’t reach her through our mind link has me all the more worried. Demon mind links work differently than the wolves’s links, we don’t have to be near to communicate, just conscious. The scent of roses and chocolates fills my nostrils, signaling the return of Jamari. I glance up in time to see her come walking in the room, sweat dripping down her face, her cheeks flushed. The mutt comes in next, hot on her heels. I roll my eyes towards the ceiling at his appearance. The mutt is such a cock blocker. Always around when I want to be alone with Jamari. A pout forms on my lips causing him to chuckle, followed by a knowing grin. “Mangy mutt.” I grumble. “Spawn of Satan
Jamari’s POV “Levi, darling…what brings you to my part of the world?” I turn my head and look up at the loft to our right. Leaning over the railing stands a beautiful woman that reminds me a bit of Ruth. I frown at the thought. Maybe all female demons look a lot alike. “Don’t try to use your powers of seduction on me Mammon.” Levi growls from my left, drawing my attention to his angry face. “You learned long ago that they don’t work on me.” My brows crinkle in confusion. Powers of seduction? “Can’t blame a girl for trying.” The hag purrs down to us. Her voice goes down like honey for your ears. My Alpha aura begins to seep from me as my anger slowly grows. Her eyes snap to me, interest alive in their depths. Alpha Kenji grabs my right hand and begins to massage me in soothing circles to cool my anger. I move my left hand to reach for Levi’s but he moves away from me before I have the chance. Kenji pulls me into his side and wraps his arm around my shoulders, running his fingers
Levi’s POV I give Mammon my most evil grin. “You see, the problem is…” I pause for emphasis. “Ruth checked in with me two days ago and told me she was headed to this casino in search of her dear old mother.” I listen as Mammon’s heart skips a beat before she’s able to conceal her uneasiness. “Imagine my surprise when I show up and find you here.” Her heart rate increases slowly. “I’ll ask you one more time. Have you seen my second in command?” “I have no use for that daughter of mine Levi.” She stands to her full height as her power begins to uncurl from within her. I sense bodies mulitplying from a not so hidden door behind her desk. “If that is all that you have come here for then I am afraid that I can be of no use to you my King.” “That’s too bad. I was really hoping you had the answers I was looking for.” I let out a deep sigh, sensing her body relax. Tendrils of her seductive powers come crashing into me like a tidal wave. Would this demoness never learn that it doesn’t w
Kenji’s POV“I can’t pick up their scents. Too many people and creatures have been through here in the past twenty-four hours.” I run my fingers through my hair in frustration. We’ve been outside the Casino for the past half hour trying to pick up their scent. The only thing we have to go on is that they headed west towards the desert. “I still can’t get anything from my mind link with Ruth either.” Levi kicks a trash can, sending it skidding down the alley. “She could be knocked out for days after teleporting her and Andrew out of there.”Jamari gasps, placing her right hand over her mouth. “They won’t survive out there for days.” She says softly. Levi walks over and wraps his arms around her shoulders, pulling her in for a comforting hug.I watch as she pulls back and stares up at him, hurt covering her face. “Why did you say those things back in the casino?” She asks him, barely above a whisper. He looks down at her confused.Realization hits me and I find myself defending the vi
Levi’s POV“What can I do for you ladies?”“We saw that you have met the Lycan King and he filled you in on what we were not able to tell you.” Lachesis says as she picks a seat to sit in, her sisters sitting in seats beside her. “So she really is the true Wolf Queen.” I rub my chin in contemplation. Not that I really had my doubts thanks to Jamari’s increase in power recently, but there was always the possibility that the mutt was wrong. The sisters look amongst themselves in silence for a moment before Clotho speaks up. “She will be more than anything the world has ever seen before.”“But only if she makes the right decisions.” Atropos fills in.I roll my eyes towards the ceiling. Not more of those fucking riddles that these three love so much. “Her mates must also accept her destiny for her to succeed.” Clothos’ words snap me from my grumblings. Did she just say ‘mates’, as in plural? Jamari’s words back with Mammon flashes through my head, ‘Keep your skanky powers off of my ma
Jamari’s POV “I wonder what is taking Levi so long? I expected him to be back before we started eating.” My brows furrow into a frown. Levi said he would be right back and it’s been over twenty minutes. Kenji shrugs his shoulders, not worried by Levi’s prolonged absence. “Maybe he went to rescue Ruth and Andrew himself.” He leans back in his chair, pulling his shirt tight around his bulging muscles. “It was probably quicker to just pop in and grab them than to drag us along for the ride.” “You’re right.” It would have been a lot for Levi to have to teleport four people at one time. “Shall we..” I tune out what Kenji is saying when my nose catches the scent of fire and brimstone moments before Levi appears behind me. “Speak of the Devil and he shall appear.” Kenji snickers. Levi flashes him a grin as he sits in the seat beside me, wrapping his arms around my shoulders. Around us, patrons begin to murmur about the appearance of a demon. Levi’s eyes turn obsidian black causing th
Kenji’s POVThe Fates told Levi that Jamari is destined to be Queen of us all, but her mates have to accept her destiny. This fuels my suspicion that both me and the Demon King are Jamari’s fated mates, but that wouldn’t make her Queen to us all. It would make her Queen of the wolves and the Demons. But that doesn’t make sense either because she is already destined to be the Queen of the wolves thanks to her wolf Reika. She doesn’t need me to become Queen to our people. There has to be something that I am missing. Then it clicks. Jamari has other mates out there aside from me and the demon. Together we make her Queen of the Human and Demon Realms. If my hunch is correct then she could possibly have more mates from the other Realms as well. They are likely the leaders of the other Realms like Levi and I. Having the leader from each Realm as her mate would make her the Queen of all. Can I accept sharing my mate with multiple people? It’s bad enough that I’ve had to share her with th
Levi’s POV “How is my daughter, demon?” My body tenses at his question about Ruth. How do I tell a man that his daughter is healing from a fight with her mother? “What was that? Why did you tense? What have you done to my daughter, demon?” Kenji rises from his seat in front of me, with Jamari in his arms. I nod my head in agreement when he motions towards the door. I completely agree with his decision to remove Jamari from my office, she seemed far too interested in the sound of the Angel’s voice for my liking. It is bad enough that I have to come to terms with sharing her with the Lycan mutt, I’m not sure that I’ll be able to handle having more men to fight for her attention just yet. A throat clears from in front of me. “How very much you like to tune out those that are speaking to you.” Remiel scolds me. My eyes flash up to the Angel standing in front of my desk with his arms crossed over his massive chest. Angels might be the more docile of the creatures, but they sure were
