Chapter 6

ALPHA KLEIN'S POV

One great lesson love has taught me is patience, especially with someone as fragile as Aurelia.

Finally getting her back to shape, we settle quietly in the car and I drive back home with millions of thoughts running in my head. How do I discard Aurelia now before going on about my business with my mate?

I should probably get a place outside the packhouse for the omega. With Aurelia now living in the packhouse, meeting secretly with her will be quite stringent. I definitely don't want Aurelia to find out about my sextual obsession with her Not now, not soon.

Picking up my phone, I text Saxon to open the mindlink and let us have a talk. Only he and Aurelia knew about my mate bond with the omega. No one else can find out about it, especially the fact that I've been sextuallly involved with her for three long years, or I'd be doomed.

‘Alpha.’ Saxon cracks through the mindlink.

‘I need you to get that omega out of the packhouse. Prepare a place for me to meet with her.’ I say, focused on the steering wheel.

‘You mean your mate?’ Saxon asks pointedly, even though he already knows she's exactly the one.

Having my closest cousin as my Beta has to be another crazy hell of a mistake I made in life after ‘getting obsessed with my mate’.

‘Do that before I get to the packhouse with Aurelia. We are close.’ I choose to ignore his impertinent attitude… as long as he gets my business done.

But Saxon stubbornly insists. ‘Was she the reason you deprived the ‘love of your life’ of her honour on a special day like today?’ I can hear mockery in his voice and there is undoubtedly a smirk on his lips as he speaks too.

Like Aurelia, he had also advised me to reject my omega mate three years ago, while it was still early. Even after marking her in my lust, Saxon had insisted that marking her didn't mean anything, that I could still reject her successfully. Up until right now, I can't decipher why I hesitated to reject that omega. Now my life is falling to ruins because of her.

I swallow hard, not knowing how to respond to Saxon's jeer this time.

‘You are not even trying to get over her, or you won't keep shamelessly returning to her pussy.’ He scoffs.

‘What the fuck do you know?’ I snap angrily, hating the way he's bringing me face flat with my embarrassment.

‘I know you want the omega so badly but you keep denying it.’ Saxon fires back.

‘You know nothing crazy punk! Now get my business done immediately or I'm having you decapitated.’ I said curtly, blocking the mindlink with him before he can make any more silly comebacks.

After speaking with Saxon now, I'm starting to realise what my resentment really is. It is not my mate that's the problem, and it is definitely not the fact that I've been sleeping with her, instead it is the fact that I have to keep our relationship a secret from the pack because of her father's traitor record. And the fact that she is in fact wolfless isn't helping matters either.

We finally arrive at the packhouse and as I drive in, my heart begins to skip in anxiety. I had intentionally taken a longer route back to the packhouse, when Aurelia asked me why I lied and told her it was my way of helping her cool off through the long ride. I wonder if Saxon made use of the advantage to get Azalea out like I instructed him.

“What is it? You have been restless.’’ Aurelia suddenly asks out of the blues, forcing me to recoil back into my seat from initially stretching my eyes and neck through every nooks and crannies of the yard.

“I-I have to meet with the pack elders immediately.’’ I lie, making a mental conclusion that Saxon has accomplished the task and my mate is probably waiting for me.

It took my whole years of mastering Xaia's abilities to keep him in check during the long drive back. We can't afford to waste any more time now.

“Like right now?’’ Aurelia asks almost in disbelief.

“Yeah..’’ I answer firmly, trying not to sound impatient. “It's obvious my behaviour left them baffled back there, I should at least give them explanations I guess.’’

“When do you plan to reschedule our matrimonial ceremony?’’ Aurelia goes on to ask unyieldingly.

Oh please precious goddess! Not fucking right now.

“I'll let you know after consulting with the elders, Aurelia…’’ I trail off when Saxon's strong lemonade scent hits my nose that moment.

Without warning he shows up by my window to my horror. My heart skips beats as he places an urgent knock on the glass, the sweaty lines on his forehead isn't helping matters either.

I wind down the glass immediately to look at him, my eyes already doing the questioning before my lips. ‘‘Why are you here?’’

But Saxon swats a look at Aurelia beside me.

I swallow hard. “Can you excuse us Aurelia?’’

For some reason, my question seems to have surprised Aurelia. She turns to me with widened eyes even though I'm not looking at her right now.

“Really?’’ She asks like she can't believe it.

“Yes. Now.’’ I say firmly, hoping she wouldn't push any further at this point or I don't trust what my next reaction would be.

Seeing the level of seriousness on my face, Aurelia doesn’t throb just like I expect. She lets out a scoff in anger and alights from the car, slamming the door shut against my ears with the angry clicks of her heels retreating.

“She's gone, Alpha.’’ Saxon blurts out immediately with visible panic on his face.

“What is? Why are you still in the packhouse and where is my omega?’’ I'm not sure if I mistook him but I'm choosing not to believe otherwise.

“She disappeared. Gone from the basement and nowhere to be found in the packhouse.” He explains longer, running a hand through his hair in frustration.

My heart misses crazy beats, and I hop out of the car immediately, grabbing Saxon's arm.

“You're kidding right?’’ I scoff. No, I won't let him tease me again. “It is so not funny, Saxon. I drove 60kms to make sure everything is settled before I get here and here you are giving me silly stories?”

He doesn't spare a glance at me this time, almost pitifully as he says. “Don't get too bothered, I've sent men around the pack in search of her. We'll find her before dusk.’’

At that moment, it slowly dawns on me. The terrifying reality behind his report.

°° KLEIN °°It was her. Gracefully alighting from the black escalade.“A.. Azalea.’’ The word rolls off my lips in a shaky whisper, and my legs acts on their own, pushing me up from my seat. In the last four years… despite how hard I tried to convince myself she was alive, somewhere at the back of my mind still believed she was dead. That I'd lost her forever, and was now on the journey of losing my own self. Seeing her right now— with her hair flowing gracefully over her shoulders, dressed in an elegant magenta blouse, embroidered to perfection, hanging over her belly, to reveal just enough skin around her waist. Paired with baggy magenta pants, pure silk material that complimented the blouse brilliantly— a wave of genuine hope hit me. I hadn't noticed Héctor holding the door out for her, until he shuts it behind her and offers his hand. My heart skips beats as Azalea places her hand over his, smiling like he was the most amazing thing in her life. He walks her into the ceremon

°° KLEIN °°By the time we crossed into Black Fur Pack, the celebration was already underway.Late. Prolly half way gone by now maybe? But it was never my thing to arrive early at these meetings. I always ruled the place, gracing the gathering with my presence. And I backed that by arriving last after every other guest should have arrived. Anyone who comes in after me then becomes the object of lateness. It is an outdoor marquee ceremony at the square of the pack. Just enough space to contain the nuisance. The beta notices me first, and he immediately rushes over to welcome us, unable to hide his surprise. He leads us to the Alphas seating, a separated section from the multitude with rounded tables. Each for two Alphas and their mates; that's a total of four persons a table. I don't miss the stares from the other Alphas as we walked through. No hard feelings but I had my nerves strung tight, observing for the worst. I can barely meet their gazes or try to socialize, and I just kn

°° KLEIN °°I close the tenth document and place it on the pile of nine others, dipping my hand into the basket of unattended files for the next one. But the floor of the basket scraps my fingers. I pull the basket down to confirm with my eyes, and truly it's empty. There are no other files left for me to attend to, meaning my work at the office was done. Good news? Not exactly. I rest back in my chair, resting my gaze on the ceiling carvings that have become too familiar and predictable after days of routine staring.I guess I have to return to my bedroom now. Aurelia must be asleep already, I should just quietly sneak in so she doesn't wake up. That has been the routine since as long as I can remember, and I doubt it'd be changing any time soon. Just as I stand up, Saxon bursts into the office looking upset and stressed. The stressed part I understand, since he has to shoulder most of my duties outside the pack. But the upset part? “A letter came in for you.’’ He says, slapp

°° HÉCTOR °°I partially expected things to fall through like this, so it's not a complete surprise. I only hoped there might be even the slightest bit of change to prove my doubts wrong.I reach forth to squeeze Xendaya's shoulder, and she turns to me with guilt and disappointment etched in her pretty eyes. I smile. “Eat up. You've barely had any dinner in your belly yet.” Patting her back twice, I walk out of the dining room, ignoring Cassie's angry glare burning the side of my face. I head straight to the underground cellar. My mother already stood by the counter, helping herself with a glass of wine. Oh, not just any wine. The white Grincely wine I got her yesterday. I join her by the counter, taking the bottle from her to help her with unwrapping the foil. “You're not mad right? He's just a pub.’’ “I never asked for your help.’’ She snaps, ignoring my question.“C'mon now. I got it for you so I might as well do the unveiling.’’ ‘‘That painting was you, wasn't it?’’ She asks

°° AZALEA °°The kind of silence that filled that room was enough to allow the sound of a pin drop on the floor. I don't miss Cassie's eyes, watching me with mockery and smug satisfaction. Everyone probably guessed that I've lost confidence about my gift now that Cassie has presented such valuable and thoughtful items after Emily blatantly called me thoughtless last year for gifting her a hot water flask. But that wasn't even the case now. And last year's incident had been out of my haste to get something at all for her since I'd forgotten about her birthday and couldn't prepare in advance. I let out a shaky breath and open my mouth to speak, but Héctor's voice breaks the silence first before me. “Xendaya has prepared a nice gift for you today.” He turns to me, one seat away from me which is Nick's. “Come on, Xen. Let's show her what you prepared.’’ ‘‘H–huh?’’ I stutter, dumbfounded. But the next second Héctor was up from his seat and approached me, taking my hand. “Gus.’’ He c

°° AZALEA °°I care about him.Goddess, I really do! But I just can't seem to love him the way he wants. The way I'm supposed to. The way I actually want to. And what is even more unnerving is how vivid they alway feel and leave my body aching long after I wake up.They feel more like memories than mere dreams. And that man definitely isn't Héctor. I know this because the mood in the dream atmosphere is nothing close to the atmosphere between myself and Héctor. That man seems really dominating, while myself on the other hand is so stupidly timid and even nearly afraid of him. What I totally do not understand is why I let him have me like a filthy plaything, begging for his touch and enjoying every bit of it. Perhaps there is something about my past that I'm missing out on? I badly want to ask Héctor about it
