121. Game On
...Lexi POV...
I feel like I've been crouched here forever. I lean my head against Xavier's still body, unwinding to face the truth. Tears continue to spill, as the realization that he's no longer with me, becomes overwhelming.
Suddenly I remember that Xavier wasn't Craig's last victim. Rather there were two more people. I know my mom was one of them, but I don't know who else he has. I know I can't stay here any longer. My mom's life depends on me getting to her on time.
I lay Xavier's lifeless body back onto his back. I reach over placing a gentle kiss on his lips. Moving my hand over his eyes to carefully close his eyes.
"I will forever love you." I say to him.
I stand up to walk to the edge of the boat. I notice that as time has gone on, the boat has drifted further out into the ocean. This means I can't dwell here any longer. There's no point in staying. Xavier's gone, and he's not coming back. If only I had gotten to him sooner.

...Jax POV...Just like that, I felt like the happiest man in the world. She said yes. She actually said yes. Part of me thought that she would run away screaming the moment I proposed. Instantly, I drop back down to a sitting position in the couch. Finding it difficult to stay standing. I run my hand along my forehead, as I sink further into the couch."What do you mean they're gone? Who's gone?" Blake asks."Xavier, Lexi, and her parents have gone missing. They were last seen heading back towards the highway, but their car disappeared somehow." Noah explains."What do you mean disappeared? How could a car just disappear?" Blake questions.Before Noah has a chance to explain, his phone begins to ring once more. Noah pulls it from his pocket, answering it fervently, this time placing the call on speakerphone."You better have found something." Noah screams into the phone.Trent, one of Xavier's men begins to talk, answering Noah."We went back and searched the area. We managed to find some car tracks just before they managed to get to the highway. From the tire tracks, it looks like there were two cars involved."

...Lexi POV...I make my way back to the utility tunnel. I can feel myself growing weaker by the second. However, I can't let myself succumb to the weakness. If I pause for even a moment, my friends and family will pay the price with their lives. Something I refuse to let happen."What now?" I say, curtly.I'm exhausted, and my body is screaming at me to rest. The events are slowly catching up with me, but I can't let myself get distracted. I need to stay focused. ...Lexi POV...The flames were so high. The heat intense. It was next to impossible to breathe, but I couldn't stop. There's a chance I could be lost, but I needed to try my best."MOM!"
